Current rock trailblazers Geese marked a milestone in their rise to success on Saturday night with their debut as musical guests on ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL), performing two songs from their 2025 album ‘Getting Killed‘. The appearance, filmed in NBC’s Studio 8H in New York, came on the January 24 episode hosted by actor and singer Teyana Taylor, placing the Brooklyn band in front of one of late-night television’s broadest audiences.

Having shifted from DIY basement recordings to major network TV, Geese used the slot to cement their growing reputation as one of guitar music’s most innovative young bands. They delivered a pair of tracks from ‘Getting Killed‘, starting with ‘Au Pays du Cocaine’, followed later in the show by ‘Trinidad’. For a group that has built its following through relentless touring and word of mouth, the episode represented a pivotal first appearance on the long‑running NBC sketch series, which often serves as a national breakout stage for emerging artists.

‘Au Pays du Cocaine’, the eighth track on the 11‑song album, showcased the band’s slower, more atmospheric side, with touring keyboardist Sam Revaz joining the core lineup on stage. Frontman Cameron Winter’s vocals leaned into the song’s drifting, narcotic mood, while the band kept the arrangement taut and restrained. For their second slot, Geese shifted into a harsher gear with ‘Trinidad’, the album’s diverse opening track, balancing stripped‑down, eerie verses with a chorus of heavy chaos that highlighted their dynamic control.

The episode was hosted by Teyana Taylor, star of the film ‘One Battle After Another’, who was making her own hosting debut on the show. First announced as musical guests for the January 24 broadcast on January 7, Geese’s appearance alongside Taylor was quickly picked up by music outlets and fan communities. The performance arrived after the group spent much of late 2025 on the road in support of ‘Getting Killed‘, an album that saw them dominate year‑end lists, spark intense online discussion and sell out shows across the globe, including multiple packed dates in the band’s birthplace, New York.

Forming in Brooklyn in 2016, the band currently consist of vocalist and multi‑instrumentalist Cameron Winter, guitarist Emily Green, bassist Dominic DiGesu, and drummer Max Bassin, with Sam Revaz joining on keyboards for live shows. The SNL spot underlines the band’s growing profile on American network television and signals the scale of opportunities now available to them.

To date, Geese have released four studio albums: “A Beautiful Memory” (2018), “Projector” (2021), “3D Country” (2023) and “Getting Killed” (2025). Their SNL debut is set to be followed by further touring in early 2026, including a show in Honolulu on January 31 and appearances at several major festivals around the world later in the year, positioning the band for an even bigger year ahead as they push their sound to wider audiences.

Hozier joined actor Martin Short and the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL), as the musical guest for the NBC programme’s final pre-Christmas episode of this year.

Returning to SNL for a second time, the Irish musician played two tracks, the first ‘Too Sweet’ from his 2024 EP ‘Unheard’ which later went on to make the tracklist of his third album’s deluxe edition, ‘Unreal Unearth: Unending’ along with a cover of classic festive track, ‘Fairytale of New York’.

Completing a performance as brilliant as the studio version, Hozier delivered ‘Too Sweet’ with his usual richly soothing vocals. The ambience in the SNL studio with the contributions of backing vocalists and instrumentalists enhanced the pre-existing ethereal nature of the track, further exposing Hozier’s poignant vulnerability in ‘Too Sweet’.

The performance of ‘Too Sweet’ was highly anticipated given on the same day (December 21), former President Barack Obama released his annual ‘favourites’ which saw ‘Too Sweet’ feature on this year’s music recommendations. The track achieved commercial success having achieved the number 1 position on the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100, and received considerable traction online this year, being a popular audio for TikTok users – the sound currently has over 248,000 posts contributed to it.

Hozier pulled out all the stops on Saturday night performing a surprise cover of Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s ‘Fairytale of New York’. Despite the controversial nature of the track given the homophobic and misogynist slurs which feature in the original, ‘Fairytale of New York’ remains one of the most popular Christmas songs in the UK. As Hozier changed some of the lyrics to fit with modern times, the ‘Eat Your Young’ singer effectively captured the tongue-in-cheek rambunctiousness of the song. This specific cover displayed the husky deepness layered within the intensified warmth of Hozier’s Irish vocal twang, perhaps a clever homage to the original.

Although an impressive performance given by Hozier on Saturday night, viewers are to be reminded of the singer’s SNL debut back in 2014. He performed his breakthrough single ‘Take Me to Church’ alongside ‘Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene’ both of which feature on his self-titled debut album released in the same year.

A decade after his first performance on SNL, it’s hard to believe Hozier is only just returning as a musical guest on the show. However, with the momentum of his success in 2024, it will not be surprising if he features as a guest again in the near future.

St Vincent has announced brand new dates for the artist’s upcoming tour, ‘Daddy Goes Abroad’. The artist will hit the road in Summer 2022 in support of her recently released new album.

The tour will feature the artist’s biggest UK show to date on 22nd June 2022 at London’s Eventim Apollo. The singer’s largest headline date will also mark the final stop of the artist’s UK dates, the summer tour will also include a performance at Usher Hall, Edinburgh on 28th June 2022.

‘Daddy Goes Abroad‘ will not only support the new album, ‘Daddy’s Home’ released 14th May 2021, but will also see the American musician play her first UK shows with The Down And Out And Out Downtown band. The band is made up of musicians who also supported St Vincent in her debut appearance on the American TV show, Saturday Night Live. The singer, otherwise known as Annie Erin Clark, appeared on the popular show as the episode’s musical guest on 3rd April 2021, where she debuted two tracks from ‘Daddy’s Home’. Clark put on a luxurious show which has captured the world’s attention, during ‘Pay Your Way In Pain’ she performed a dance routine and whilst performing ‘The Melting of the Sun’ she was accompanied by backing singers whilst she sung sat in a plush armchair. The singer’s performance was a hit among the audience and critics alike, and inevitably caught the attention of the press.

Her performance was critically acclaimed and produced many reviews heralding the singer’s performance with many critics shouting her praises since the episode aired. The theme of nostalgia was somewhat evident within St Vincent’s performance, since the set aired critics have made astute comparisons to celebrated musical icons within their reviews, with many comparing the singer’s aesthetic to the 1970s.

Entertainment Weekly had this to say regarding her performance, “… this performance, with its retro ’70s rock aesthetic, truly rules… this is top-notch.” Whilst AC Club drew similarities to rock god David Bowie and other music stars. “St. Vincent brought some old school art-rock theatrical glamor… I got some Bowie, some Talking Heads, maybe a touch of Gaga and (dare I say) Madonna—a potently bracing combination.”

The artist’s recent release, ‘Daddy’s Home’ features the nostalgic qualities in which the singer’s Saturday Night Live performance seemingly drew from. It is not hard to miss the 1970’s appeal to the singer’s sound and look, this is clearly evident with the album’s cover art which sees the songstress dressed in a slip dress covered by a fur coat. Perhaps the studio in which held the recording process is the key to the album’s retro feel. Part of the new material was recorded at Electric Lady Studios located in New York City, home to many legendary artists such as Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder and David Bowie, whom the singer was compared to by AC Club. The 70’s filter is transparently applied to the new album, seen in to the lead single, ‘Pay Your Way In Pain‘, released 4th March 2021. The single’s release also marked the first time a critic compared the singer’s new material to ‘Ziggy Stardust‘ singer David Bowie, an observation which has followed the singer since.

St. Vincent’s seventh studio album was not just received well by her fans but was also publicly praised by many writers within the music press. MOJO described the album with powerful adjectives to convey their approval. “It’s masterful stuff: a full conceptual realization, filled with great melodies, deep grooves, colourful characterisations, and some sonic detail that reveals itself over repeated plays.”. And the newspaper, Mail on Sunday has described the release simply as “Wonderful”.

Along with the newly announced UK Tour, St Vincent is also set to play two festival appearances next summer. The American singer-songwriter will perform at Mad Cool in 2022, the Madrid festival will be returning next year after cancellations due to COVID restrictions. Ticketholders to Mad Cool will get to see the singer on the festival’s second day, 7th July 2022. The Berklee College of Music allumi will also be joined by headliner acts Imagine Dragons and The Killers. The singer’s second festival appearance will be at NOS Alive Festival in Lisbon, also returning after a two year hiatus. Festival-goers will be able to catch her set on 8th July 2022 on the Sagres Stage, other acts performing include Metallica and Royal Blood.

The Grammy-award singer has also been working on a cover of the iconic Metallica song, ‘Sad But True’, originally released October 1992. The cover is set to appear on the complication album ‘The Metallica Blacklist’, released 10th September 2021 in celebration of the legendary Black Album, also known as ‘Metallica‘ released 12th August 1991. The album will feature 12 songs performed by 53 artists, each artist will cover their favourite track from the original release. Other artists who participated in the new release include Weezer, Sam Fender, Volbeat and English rockers Royal Blood. Proceeds from the album sales will be donated to Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands and the North Texas Food Bank.

The lucky ticket holders will not only get to see the singer perform her new material but may even be treated to some classics. Now with seven studio albums under her talented belt the singer has more ammunition than ever for a fantastic tour. Tickets will go on sale from 10 am on 9th July 2021.

Adele revealed that her new album is yet to be finished during her hosting debut on popular tv show, ‘Saturday Night Live.’ It’s almost 5 years since Adele broke records with her chart topping album ’25.’

During her opening statement she uncovered as to why she was hosting, with singer/songwriter H.E.R as her musical guest on the show. She stated, “I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being the host, I’ve seen all of it — like why isn’t she the musical guest and all that.”-Billboard

Mentioning her new album she said, “My album is not finished and I’m also too scared to do both. I would rather just put on some wigs – and this is all mine by the way – have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens.”-The Independent

Adele appeared on the show previously as a musical guest in 2008 and 2015. She also praised the show in her opening statement by saying ‘Saturday Night Live,’ helped her break America during her first appearance on the show. It was during her performance of ‘Chasing Pavements,’ and ‘Cold Shoulder,’ that gave ‘Saturday Night Live’ their highest rating episode in 14 years and sent her shooting to fame overnight.

The following day from her appearance on the show, Her debut album ‘19‘ went straight to number 1 in the ITunes chart and ‘Chasing pavements,’ shot up the billboard chart from number 46 to 11, commending her with her first US single hit.

She explained how the show contributed to her success in America by saying, “You see I was the musical guest back in 2008 when Sarah Palin came on with Tina Fey,” she continued, “so obviously a few million people tuned in to watch it. And well, the rest is now history.”-BBC News

Adele had plenty of laughs during her hosting debut as she jokes about her current weight loss by saying, “And I know I look really, really different since you last saw me but actually, because of all the Covid restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me – and this is the half I chose.”- BBC News

Although Adele was not the musical guest on this occasion, she did stun the audience with performances of her songs, during a bachelor themed sketch which included, “Someone Like You,” “Hello” “When We Were Young,” and “Rumour Has It,” amongst others.

NME reported it was in February, when she sparked rumours about her new album by saying, “Expect my album in September,” whilst being filmed at a friends wedding. In June, her manger set aside rumours after updating fans that her music would not be released then. A few of the names as to who she is working with on the new album, include producer Raphael Saadiq and singer John Legend.

Although viewers were hoping Adele may perform a debut song from her new album or share some exciting news about the release, fans are going to wait a little longer for new music.
