As Saint Agnes gear up for the release of their follow up to 2019’s Welcome to Silvertown, the band have announced a new single that was finished and added as a last minute number to the completed record. The song is a grief-stricken ode to Austen’s mother and the singer admits that coming to terms with the song and its inclusion on the new album was a difficult trial to face.

Speaking of the recording of the song, Austen said, “I was so raw and broken that I struggled to put myself in the place I needed to be in to get it done. But I did get there. The song was written and recorded as the very last thing on the album at the eleventh hour. It’s a tribute to my mother and the depth of my love for her.” The band have also included a video which features the group playing the song live.

2018 proved to be Saint Agnes breakout year after the band spent their fair share of years touring the east London dive bar circuit. After a whirlwind 20 date UK headlining run, Saint Agnes finally released their debut, Welcome to Silvertown in 2019. Since then, the band have been building a solid and steadily growing fan base that have seen them rise as true contenders in the UK rock scene and beyond.

With a very punk attitude that pervades their lyrical content as well as their aggression fuelled riffs, Saint Agnes are quickly becoming a beacon of inspiration for people who may find themselves on the fringes of society-seeking to empower the powerless. Announcing their second album Bloodsuckers earlier in the year, the band released their first single of the record, the title track, in April and followed it up with a sold out headlining show at Camden’s Black Heart.

The album will also mark the first recording released on label Spinefarm which the band joined after self releasing their debut. With Bloodsuckers, Saint Agnes certainly have another potential hit on their hands with the record boasting a raw, emotional and genre bending thrill ride that even features a guest turn by UK trap-metal star Mimi Barks.

Saint Agnes will release Bloodsuckers on 21 July before heading out on a UK tour in October and November. Find tickets here.
