Yesterday we bought you the news that fans were furious as venues and tour organisers were refusing to issue refunds for Ryan Adam’s forth coming UK tour. Well today it appears fan pressure has prevailed as the tour has been cancelled and refunds will be issued.

Speaking on Twitter The Royal Albert Hall today announced that “The Ryan Adams UK & Ireland tour has been cancelled,” wrote the Royal Albert on Twitter. “Full refunds to ticket purchasers from authorised outlets will be processed by end of day on Monday. Please allow time for the repayment transaction to hit your account”.

Full refunds to ticket purchasers from authorised outlets will be processed by end of day on Monday.

Please allow time for the repayment transaction to hit your account.

— Royal Albert Hall (@RoyalAlbertHall) March 1, 2019

The move comes after a severe backlash to the tour promoters and gig venues decision to not issue refunds following the accusations of sexual abuse and misconduct filed against Adams. Earlier in the week the Royal Albert Hall had said “The venue is being hired by a third party promoter SJM for the Ryan Adams concerts. The promoter has advised us that the concerts are still scheduled to go ahead. We are continuing to monitor this situation very closely.” Whilst a spokeperson for See Tickets had said “The event is still going ahead, and therefore in line with our agreed terms and conditions, refunds are not available.”

Today however action has been taken and the tour has been cancelled. It is unknown whether this was due to pressure from fans, gig venues or a decision taken by the promoters themselves. The promoters have however said that all ticket sales will be honoured as refunds.

So Ryan Adams won’t be playing Dublin the end of March, and now promoters @mcd_productions say tickets will be refunded. Here’s the latest from them: #ryanadams #refund pic.twitter.com/CqXql7nrcq

This lack of action and failure to take a stance against Adams had been by fans as ‘enabling behaviour’ Most fans seem pleased that action has finally been taken, yesterday social media was full of very vocal fans disgusted that Adam’s tour was still being honoured. Interestingly The Royal Albert Hall was the first venue to announce the cancellation this morning and they faced the strongest backlash over the past week.

I’ve contact the @RoyalAlbertHall and apparently they are only “a hall for hire” so they are deferring to the concert promoters. Hate to give my money away but damned if I’ll sit in my seat and applaud.#ryanadams: Fans demand money back ahead of UK tourhttps://t.co/19wO4Qz3a2 — Bernard Murray-Gates (@Kindness58) February 26, 2019

The decision to cancel the tour however has not been greeted with universal praise from fans. Yesterday we reported how some fans still wanted to attend the tour and support Adams, and today ticket organisers have been accused of “Mob Rule” for acting before Adam’s has faced any potential convictions. A “Ryan Adams Superfan Group” on Facebook also hosted a poll where it suggested most fans in the group wanted the tour to go ahead.

Fans have been left angry, confused and disappointed as tour venues are refusing to issue refunds for tickets sold for Ryan Adams’ UK Tour. Adams’ had been scheduled to play 8 dates across the UK and Ireland this March and April ,but following allegations of sexual assault and an ongoing FBI investigation into his behaviour, fans have been left refusing to support the artist and demanding refunds. These demands however have so far been rejected by venues and promoters.

What leaves me feeling hopeless about @TheRyanAdams UK tour still on as scheduled is that @SJMConcerts, @seetickets, @RoyalAlbertHall and many more are continuing to enable his behavior. — maggie zebs (@tribecalledzebs) February 26, 2019

Whilst tour promoters are being slow to react and respond to the incidents and the subsequent anger from fans, individual gig venues themselves appear to be distancing themselves from the decision making. A spokesperson for The Royal Albert Hall told the NME “The venue is being hired by a third party promoter SJM for the Ryan Adams concerts.
All of this follows the news that Adams’ new album “Big Colors” has been cancelled from it’s scheduled release in April, as the singer is currently under FBI investigation after multiple women accused him of sexual assault, and ‘building a relationship’ with a then aged 14 year old musician via Skype. Adams’ has also had multiple sponsorship and merchandise deals cancelled since then. All of this is leaving fans even more confused as to why venues and ticket providers seem to still be supporting him.

No refund from @TicketmasterUK @SJMConcerts as @TheRyanAdams is going ahead with UK tour despite album being shelved, FBI investigating and 3 gear companies suspending relationships.
It is not however all fans who are requesting refunds, with many suggesting this demand is an example of “guilt until proven innocent”. Whilst some fans are willing to support Adams and an openly expressing how they are still looking forward to seeing him on tour.

Playing alongside acts such as Kaiser Cheifs, Ellie Goulding and Ryan Adams – who has announced his UK tour dates here – the Foo Fighters will return for the closing concert of the Invictus Games at London’s Queen Elizabeth Park on September 14th this year.

The Invictus Games will run from the 10th to the 14th and comprise of around 300 competitors from 13 countries which have all fought alongside the UK in recent military campaigns in honour of sick, wounded or injured Servicemen and women. The games were created by Prince Harry and inspired by the ‘Warrior Games’ in the USA.

The Foo Fighters will close the event by playing their first gig in the UK since September 2012, a long wait for die-hard fans.

Dave Grohl has also seen success with his television show ‘Sonic Highways’ which follows the band around various music studios in the states as they record their new album, which as yet remains untitled, to capture the essence of American music history.

The Foo Fighters will release their new album in November this year, and tickets for the Invictus Games go on sale at 9am on Friday 1st August for £49. You can purchase tickets on the Invictus Games website here

Singer and prolific songwriter Ryan Adams has today released his anticipated single ‘Gimme Something Good’ as the first taste of his new album, which will be released later this year.

In a previous article on MXDWN it was stated that Ryan Adams would officially release this single in July of this year, therefore speculation has been raised as to whether or not ‘Gimme Something Good’ was leaked or not.

An article in SteroGum links the reader to a page where the track can be played, however it is met with a disclaimer explaining that all digital versions have been taken down by owners request as the official date will be 1st July. NME however has a link to a video on YouTube but this does not appear to be the from the official Ryan Adams site.

At present the new single is there to be enjoyed, but whether or not it will remain until 1st July is uncertain. ‘Gimme Something Good’ will be from Adam’s 14th studio album and the first thing the singer has produced in nearly three years with ‘Ashes and Fire’ being released in 2011.

It is always interesting to see what Adams will produce next, and in my opinion ‘Gimme Something Good’ is a good tune, very Adams-esk, but lacks the punch and fire that many of his others singles have contained. Nevertheless it is a joy to know that Adams and his music label ‘Pax Am’ have not disappeared for ever, and at 39 he is still producing music for his strong group of fans and followers. Perhaps his new music isn’t quite the same, but it is far from being bad. I believe it is missing something…Neal Casal maybe?

Adams previously released his thirteenth studio album “Ashes and Fire” in 2011 which was the first after this disbandment of his band ‘The Cadrinals’. Since then he has worked with Fall Out Boy on their new LP ‘Save Rock and Roll’ at his Pax Am studio, as well as co-producing Jenny Lewis’ new album ‘The Voyager’.

The new single will be entitled ‘Gimmie Me Something Good’ and will feature on Adams’ fourteenth studio album; clearly displaying the prolific talents of the alt-country rock musician having recorded one studio album nearly every year since the millennium.

The talents of Mr Adams will continue to be displayed through this greatly anticipated new album later this year.
