Friday evening at Glastonbury 2025 saw the likes of Loyle Carner, Alanis Morissette and Wet Leg take to the stages at Worthy farm, but Getdown Services cut the the crowd with an announcement that they would be performing a secret set the following evening. 

On Saturday morning, the band announced that they would be taking to the Crow’s Nest stage at 00:15. Located at the top of The Park stage, the Crow’s Nest is one of the smallest stages at the festival, so unsurprisingly, the tent was packed to the rafters by midnight on Saturday.

The only performance that the band were originally scheduled for was on Sunday, in the Croissant Neuf stage. Taking to the stage at 17:30 and clashing with Rod Stewart, Getdown Services had a lot of competition for their slot. However, Ben & Josh soon made their feelings apparent, stating “Rod Stewart looks like an old sofa – but he has great hair”.

The Croissant Neuf tent was even busier than the Crow’s Nest the previous night, with fans standing in the blistering heat just to try and get a look at the stage. 

The duo stated at many points throughout their set that they have been overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned up to both of their shows so far and expressed their gratitude profusely. Guitarist Josh Law went as far as to say that “I’ll probably cry later on”.

Having poked fun at his face, hair and political views throughout the set, Getdown Services concluded their performance with a satirical rendition of Rod Stewart’s “D’ya Think I’m Sexy?”, with both members reading lyrics from their phone.

Having been announced earlier in the week, Getdown Services finished their Glastonbury with a teatime television performance on BBC 2.

Looking nervous and stating “I’ve never been on the beeb before”, the band performed their song ‘Dog Dribble’ as part of the BBC’s Sunday highlights coverage.

He will be performing one of his classics, marking his first time on the AMAs stage since 2004 when he performed the Louis Armstrong classic “What a Wonderful World.” The ballad was featured on his Billboard 200-topping and Grammy-winning album ‘Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III’. The singer, who co-hosted the event back in 1989 with Anita Baker, Debbie Gibson and Kenny Rogers, has received several previous lifetime achievement awards, including a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1993, a Legend Award from the World Music award in 1993, the Ivor Novello Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and an induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame, 2006; and the ASCAP Founders Award, 2011. He is also a two-time inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He was enshrined as a solo artist in 1994 and with Faces in 2012.

Rod has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.

On the night of the event, other artists will be celebrated. Janet Jackson will be bestowed with the Icon Award, as well as being honoured with the prize in recognition of her “undeniable cultural and global influence,”. The iconic Jackson performer will be taking to the stage at the ceremony on May 26, in what marks her first TV performance in seven years.

The 58-year-old music star reacted on Instagram: “Thank you so much, AMAs!! It’s an honor. We look forward to being on your stage again. See you in Vegas! (sic)”.

The 2025 AMAs take place at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas and will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez.

The American Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Eldridge Industries and Billboard parent company Penske Media.

The festival will see an act who had previously headlined the festival in 2009, a Chart-Topping pop princess and one of the most popular bands of the past decade. This year’s Glastonbury lineup will feature two first-time headliners: British pop-rock band The 1975 and American pop-punk singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo, and welcome the return of Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts.

The 1975, fronted by Matty Healy, will take the Pyramid Stage on Friday night. The band is known for their genre-blending sound, introspective lyrics, and charismatic frontman Matty Healy, the band has built a massive global following.

Olivia Rodrigo is set to close out Sunday’s performances. Her last appearance at the festival was in 2022 on the Other Stage, where she brought out Lily Allen for a guest performance and delivered a fiery critique of the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Saturday’s headliner will be Neil Young and his band, the Chrome Hearts—a booking that was briefly thrown into confusion. On January 1, Young unexpectedly announced he was pulling out of the festival due to concerns over its association with broadcast partner BBC, which he described as being under “corporate control.” However, just two days later, he clarified that he had received “an error in information” and confirmed that Glastonbury was back on his tour schedule. Young previously headlined the festival in 2009.

Both Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo are also set to headline another popular UK festival, BST Hyde Park, in July.

This year’s coveted legends slot will go to none other than Rod Stewart. The rock icon, who turned 80 in January, reassured fans that he’s still got plenty to give, declaring he’s “more than able to pleasure and titillate” at this stage in his career. The iconic artist will be taking the stage on Sunday.

London rapper Loyle Carner will lead Friday’s performances, while The Prodigy will close out Sunday night. Friday will also see chart-topper Gracie Abrams taking the stage, along with Busta Rhymes, Wet Leg and Four Tet. Lola Young will also be performing on Friday, after her hit ‘Messy‘ topped the charts for weeks in a row.

Soul-pop sensation Raye will take the stage ahead of Neil Young on Saturday. Her debut album, ‘My 21st Century Blues’, has earned both critical acclaim and commercial success, solidifying her status as one of the UK’s most exciting talents. Charli xcx, who dominated last summer with her neon-soaked album ‘Brat’, will also take the stage on Saturday. Saturday will also see former Little Mix Jade performing, for her solo Glastonbury debut.

Noah Kahan will also be joining this exciting line up on Sunday, after ‘Stick Season’ was named the biggest song of 2024 by Official Charts. Kahan will also be performing at this edition’s BST Hyde Park. The same day, The Prodigy will be taking the stage, along with The Libertines and Wolf Alice.

This year Glastonbury will partner with Oxfam, WaterAid, Greenpeace and many more charities to ensure the best festival experience. The festival also reassured fans that many more artists and talents are set to be announced, with some rumours as to whether Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan will be gracing the iconic UK stage.

Stewart and Wood first worked together in 1967 as part of the Jeff Beck group. They would record two albums with the group before departing in 1969, and later being known as the first lineup of the band. Wood joined The Small Faces, and was followed by Stewart, renaming the band ‘Faces’.

With Faces, Stewart and Wood released four studio albums, achieving a UK number one album with ‘Ohh-La-La’. Tension would arise as Stewart’s solo career grew, with the musicians feeling like they were simply his backing band. Wood’s increased involvement with fellow rockers The Rolling Stones only added fuel to the fire, and the band broke up in 1975.  

Despite these two breakups, Stewart and Wood have maintained a close friendship, reuniting as part of Faces multiple times, including as recently as 2021. Kenney Jones, the band’s original drummer, is still an active member of the group, and could possibly complete a Faces lineup at Glasto.

Wood headlined Glastonbury in 2013 as part of The Rolling Stones, who were appearing for the very first time at the festival. Tickets for that year’s event sold out in less than 90 minutes and The Stones’ set drew an audience of 2.6 million on a BBC Two broadcast.  

Wood was asked about a potential return to the festival in 2023, telling the NME, “Me, I’d love it. I think it’s a must. If not next year, then… If not the Stones then the Faces. It’ll be me, Rod [Stewart] and [drummer] Kenney [Jones]. That’s not out of the question, you know. I know they want to do it…”

According to an article in The Sun, a festival source has said: “Rod is really excited about his big Worthy Farm gig and wanted to give a nod to the beginning of his career, so thought it would be fitting to bring out Ronnie. He knows the pair of them together will be a huge crowd pleaser.” 

The Legends slot has become one of Glastonbury’s most popular performances, bringing musical icons to the fields of Somerset. Some of those to grace the stage have included the genius behind The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson (2005), national treasure Tom Jones (2009), and the Queen of Disco, Diana Ross (2022). Upon the announcement of Stewart’s slot, some festival-goers questioned if the ‘Young Turks’ singer was a big enough draw. Glastonbury may also be the frontman’s last major show after he suggested he would be moving to more intimate shows from next year.

Stewart’s most recent performance has shown that ‘Rod the Mod’ is still in fine form. His appearance at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles saw him sing ‘Maggie May’ and a cover of The Impressions’ ‘People Get Ready’, a song he recorded with Jeff Beck in 1985.

With Wood joining the bill, fans may see plenty of classic Faces hits being performed, but regardless of the setlist, the reunion will be one of the highlights of this year’s festival, and the wider UK festival calendar. Stewart has 17 dates across North America and Europe between now and 29 June, giving him plenty of time to warm up before taking to the Pyramid Stage.

Rod Stewart shared his excitement on social media, saying: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing Glastonbury 2025! After all these years, I’m proud and ready to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury. I’ll see you there!”

His set comes amidst a busy schedule, with two US tours, a European leg, and his final major show currently scheduled for St. Louis on August 15, 2026. The Glastonbury date, June 29, falls neatly between his Nevada (June 14) and North Carolina (July 8) performances.

Glastonbury’s ‘Legend’ slot, established in 1998 with Tony Bennett, has become a celebrated festival tradition, providing a Sunday afternoon highlight with veteran artists. Stewart’s only prior Glastonbury performance was as a 2002 headliner, alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.

Emily Eavis announced Stewart’s return while reiterating that 2026 will be a fallow year, giving the land and festival team a chance to recover. It will be the first such break since the pandemic, aligning with Glastonbury’s sustainability efforts.

Demand for tickets remains fierce, with this year’s allocation selling out in just 35 minutes. While many fans expressed excitement about Rod’s nostalgic appeal, others were less enthusiastic.

One Reddit user was disappointed by the announcement, stating that it means they can go watch other acts in response to another comment that criticised his 2002 performance.

While Stewart made it clear this wasn’t the end of his live performances, the shift marks a significant change in the scale and style of his touring. He plans to focus on performing songs from The Great American Songbook series, and Swing Fever, an album he recorded with Jools Holland, in smaller venues starting in 2026.  

“Smaller venues and more intimacy,” he explained. However, Stewart left fans guessing, adding with characteristic cheek, “But then again, I may not [stop touring]…”  

Although he hasn’t explicitly detailed his reasons, Stewart hinted at age playing a role in his decision. In a recent interview with The Sun, he admitted, “I am more aware of my health now than before. You should be when you’re getting on.”  

In the summer, the singer cancelled three dates at his Las Vegas residency after contracting COVID-19, with one show cancelled only a few hours before he was set to take to the stage.

Stewart has spent decades on the road, beginning his touring career in the late 1960s as a member of the Jeff Beck Group. His first major solo tour came in 1977, where he performed 51 dates across North America, 10 in Australia and New Zealand, and 6 in the UK.

Stewart’s decision aligns with a trend among veteran musicians seeking more personal and stripped-back performances. Jonathan Richman famously transitioned to intimate acoustic shows to protect his hearing, and others, such as Sting and Noel Gallagher, have performed at smaller venues like Halifax’s Piece Hall, a historic location not traditionally associated with headline-worthy acts.

For now, Stewart has a busy schedule through 2025, with two American tours and a European tour culminating in his last large-scale show on August 15 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St Louis. Beyond that, fans will still be hoping for setlists filled with iconic hits like ‘Maggie May’, ‘Young Turks’, and ‘The First Cut is the Deepest’, even if they are more streamlined.

Rod Stewart’s move away from arena tours marks the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new chapter for him. His pivot to smaller venues promises a more intimate way to experience his timeless hits, and at 79, Rod the Mod is proving he’s still as energetic and unpredictable as ever. 

Hoobastank is returning to the UK for a one-off twentieth anniversary show of The Reason.

The US rock band are returning to the UK for one show to celebrate the twentieth-anniversary of their seminal second album ‘The Reason’.

The album was released in 2003, and the band will be performing the album in its entirety at the show.

The concert will take place at the o2 in Islington on the 17th of June. Tickets will go on general sale from 10 a.m. on the 1st of March, and you can buy yours here.

But don’t worry, if you miss out, the band will also be playing at Download Festival at Derby’s Donnington Park.

The announcement of the anniversary show came after the band released a twentieth anniversary version of ‘The Reason’ which featured a previously unreleased version of Rod Stewart’s ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’.

The song, ‘The Reason’ becameone of the many ‘retro’ tracks that found a pocket of popularity on TikTok back in 2021.

The song, which spent 38 weeks in the US singles chart, also peaked at number two back in 2004.

Hoobastank themselves joined in the trend, creating an account and posting a video under the hashtag theme of #NotAPerfectPerson with the caption: “Realizing 20 years later that you named your band Hoobastank.”

Hoobsatank is an American rock band formed in 1994 in Agoura Hills, California, by lead vocalist Doug Robb, guitarist Dan Estrin, drummer Chris Hesse, and original bassist Markku Lappalainen. They were signed to Island Records from 2001 to 2012 and have released six albums and one extended play to date. Their most recent album, Push Pull, was released in May 2018. They have sold 10 million albums worldwide. The band is best known for their hit single “The Reason“.

So if you fancy a early ’00s throwback, then set your alarms for 10 a.m. on the first of March and be sure to get in the queue early because tickets will no doubt sell out rather quickly.

Details have been revealed concerning Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral; it has been confirmed to occur at 11 am on Monday 19th September 2022. Buckingham Palace has also confirmed the day of the funeral will be a bank holiday, and the Queen’s coffin will be taken to Edinburgh’s St Giles Cathedral after the funeral. On Monday, 12th September 2022, members of the public will be able to visit the Cathedral to pay their respects; on Wednesday 14th September the coffin will be moved to London’s Palace of Westminster, where the public can also pay their respects.

The “Maggie May” singer has released the following statement concerning the announcement, “My thoughts are with all your families at this difficult time as we come out of the joyous and hopefully safe holiday season and I look forward to returning to Australia as soon as the health situation permits. I’m absolutely gutted with disappointment and when I do eventually get there we‘ll have the party to end all parties. Guaranteed.”

No further announcements have been made concerning the rest of the singer’s 2022 tour schedule. Sir Stewart’s UK and American tour dates are currently active and tickets are available to purchase. The singer’s North American leg commences on 15th February 2022 with an appearance at Hard Rock Live in Florida and concludes on 3rd September 2022 with a final performance at Florida’s Amalie Arena.

UK fans will get to see the singer live this winter; Sir Stewart will begin his UK tour on 16th November 2022 with a set at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena. The schedule consists of thirteen live performances within ten different UK and Irish cities, the tour wraps up with a set at Belfast’s The SSE Arena on 20th December 2022.

The hitmaker has been a staple of British music since the 1960s and was awarded a CBE and Knighthood in honour of his contribution to the arts and science. Sir Stewart has participated within many genres of music and has achieved ten number-one albums within the UK. The singer’s upcoming The Hits 2022 concert series marks Sir Stewarts 32nd tour and is in support of his newly released album The Tears Of Hercules.

The album was released on 12th November 2021 via Warner and Rhino, the release marks the singer’s 32nd studio album. The release is co-produced by Sir Stewart and long-term partner Kevin Savigar, the pair began their successful musical partner in the early 2010s with many of their projects becoming profitable releases. Sir Stewart’s latest album has sired three singles so far, the first single “One More Time” was released on 16th September 2021 and was accompanied by a music video shot in London. The album’s second single “Hold On” was released on 15th October 2021 and the latest and third single “I Can’t Imagine” was released on 5th November 2021.

The recent surge of Covid activity and subsequential change in social and live entertainment rules has affected the singer’s Australian dates, however, the singer’s Las Vegas dates have remained unchanged. Sir Stewart is set to begin his residency in America’s sin city on 13th May 2022, the singer will follow in the footsteps of many legendary acts who have taken the stage at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum.

Wood, also a member of The Rolling Stones since 1975, has revealed to The Sunday Times that the Faces have been working on new music along with new music with fellow Rolling Stone Mick Jagger. “I saw Mick [Jagger] here last week and Rod [Stewart] and Kenney [Jones] were here yesterday. Me and Mick have done nine new tracks for the [40th anniversary] re-release of ‘Tattoo You’. And me, Rod and Kenney have been recording some new Faces music. I’ve had a front-row seat on some amazing rock’n’roll projects these past couple of weeks.”

Faces were not just a supergroup but a collection of the era’s most talented musicians and songwriters. The group was formed in 1969 by the majority of the members from the 60’s rock band Small Faces famed for their era-defining tracks, ‘Itchycoo Park’ and ‘Lazy Sunday’. The group’s split was due to lead singer Steve Marriott departure to join Humble Pit.  The breakup led to the formation of Faces made up of the original lineup, Ronnie Lane on bass and vocals, Ian McLagen on keyboards and drummer and percussionist Kenney jones. The trio was then joined by members from the Jeff Beck Group, Ronnie Wood on guitar and lead vocalist Sir Rod Stewart, many will remember Stewart from his 1978 single ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’. But before his spandex-wearing days, Stewart was known for his gravelly vocals on Faces tracks such as the 1973 single ‘Ooh La La’.

Sir Rod Stewart has revealed what bonded himself and Wood together as friends and bandmates, the singer has stated that it was their noses and passion for fashion that propelled the friendship. “We introduced each other. I said, ”Ello Nose’ and he said, ”Ello Nose’. We both had big noses. I think what brought us together was our sense of clothing – we both liked style – and our unique sense of humour. That’s bonded us together over the years.”

However, during the recording of their final studio album ‘Ooh La La’, the band began to fall apart. One of the founding members, Lane decided to leave the group as he felt he was being pushed aside within the band’s hierarchy. The group replaced Lane with Tetsu Yamauchi as their bassist and continued with the new lineup. During the band’s last two years, they embarked on a yearlong tour and released the live album ‘Coast to Coast: Overture and Beginners’ released 10th January 1974 recorded on 17th October 1973 during a live show in California at Anaheim Arena. Further line-up changes would proceed to occur, Wood had released a couple of solo albums during this time and began to drift towards The Rolling Stone and went on tour with them in 1975. Wood had a fleeting replacement, Jesse Ed Davis, before the group’s eventual breakup.

The group have reunited several times after their breakup, in the late 1970s the group played together again but unfortunately without Lane due to the musician’s illness which forced him to retire in 1997. Lane would tragically die on 4th June 1997 due to pneumonia, whilst in the final stages of multiple sclerosis. Between the years 2010 and 2011 the surviving members went on a reunion tour with an altered lineup, Mick Hucknall from Simply Red on vocals and Glen Matlock playing bass and vocals. In 2012 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted both Faces and Small Faces, Hucknall replaced Stewart within the performance due to illness, Lane was also posthumously inducted. The group reunited again in 2015 for a charity event, the line-up consisted of original members Sir Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones. More recently, the group appeared at the 2020 Brit Awards as part of the closing performance, unfortunately, the group would not be joined by McLagen who tragically died on 3rd December 2014.

74-year-old musician, Wood, has been very busy so far this year, he is also working with fellow musician Mick Taylor on a new album. The musical pair have been recording a tribute album to Jimmy Reed, a Blues legend famed for his influential style. Wood spoke to The Sunday Times concerning his unique work ethic. “I go through art phases when music is secondary, but right now I really want to get out there and play.”
