 The Sheffield-born artist who now resides in London, describes their style in the following three words: “Androgyny, drama, prep” and their music has been classed under the genres of alternative R&B and indie-pop. The singers’ previous label Dirty Hit is home to some of Britain’s biggest new pop: Rina Sawayama, Beabadoobee and The 1975, although the singer has now moved on to indie label Chrysalis who have an impressive roster including Emeli Sande, Nick Drake, Laura Marling, The Waterboys and many more. 

 Recalling the meaning behind the song, Ford explains “This song is based on a story my friends told me about their dad and his late wife, and how for a while after her death, no one could replace her. He used to dress his new girlfriends in clothes like hers.” She continues “At first it sounds odd, and might make you feel uncomfortable. But really it’s a love song, just told in a different way.”

Inspired by the world of drag, Gia mentions how the subculture of the queer community (of which she is also part of) has been such an influence on her music, she references “the freedom of gender expression, the fantasy” and “the alter egos.”

“Falling in Love Again” follows the previous single drop “Aligator” which was released earlier this year and received accreditation in NME, Dork, Line of Best Fit and Clash Magazine. Speaking about “Alligator”, Gia states that it is “a song about a desperation to be seen and heard. I am being facetious by painting myself as multiple unbelievable creatures to garner attention. In the opening statement, I am an Alligator. Then, when that goes ignored, I am ten feet off of the ground, with feathers — a whole new creature, perhaps still the Alligator, perhaps something different.”

Ford was recently announced as an official artist for SXSW 2024. The Austin, Texas-based festival features conference sessions, film & TV festival screenings, music festival showcases comedy festival events, world-class exhibitions, tech competitions and award ceremonies. The event runs from 2024 from March 8-16!  

The musical magpie was also named as one of The Great Escape’s First Fifty for 2024. The festival will be hosting a night in collaboration with Clash at the East London venue, with Ford headlining at Paper Dress Vintage on the 15th of November. The lineup also includes Essex-based singer, songwriter and producer Erin LeCount and Scottish songwriting sensation, Jacob Alon.

Berwyn is a Trinidadian born singer/songwriter who grew up in Essex, moving to Romford when he was 9 years old.

Following his move to England Berwyn credits his music teacher for seeing the talent within him, in an interview with The Face magazine the 24-year-old said “I wasn’t so sure about my talent. But she noticed things like my tone of voice, my ear for music – those kinds of things.”

His breakthrough song ‘Glory’ released in 2020 and saw him feature on Jools Holland ‘Live at home for later’ where the artist made a real impact performing the track in his kitchen with an added verse speaking on the racism within England at the height of that summers black lives matter protests following the murder of Geroge Floyd at the hands of the American police.

Berwyn has already released four of the eleven tracks that will feature on his upcoming tape, those being; ‘Rubber bands’, ‘Vinyl’, ‘100,000,000’ and ‘i’d rather die than be deported’. Amassing over 500 thousand views on these four releases, 300 thousand coming from his own youtube channel with ‘I’d rather die than be deported’ being released on the home of UK music GRM daily.

In his post announcing the tracklist of his upcoming project, Berwyn also shared the exciting news that the project will be released on vinyl in August.

Berwyn is also set for a national tour at the end of the year, having announced seven dates across the country.

The Cloud X festival celebrates community, creativity and inclusion celebrating artists across many genres in the UKs pulsating music scene.

The standouts for the lineup announcement are the talented RnB artists Etta Bond and A2, Croydon-based artist A2 having recently released his single ‘Akolades’ after nearly a year-long hiatus. Leicester rapper Sainte is another standout on the lineup, the 20-year old rapper has become one of the UK’s most compelling artist after the success of his standout song ‘Champagne shots’ which was only released 6 months ago. Exciting DJs Snoochie Shy and Damnshaq are two of the biggest DJs in the UK rap and hip hop scene, Snoochie with a weekly show on BBC 1xtra and Damnshaq who has built his buzz by throwing events titled ‘damnshaqshouse’

The rapper from Harlesden, North West London who recently released a number 1 album, has spoken on his plans to retire after his next project. The rappers sat down with DJ and podcaster Chuckie on JDs in the Duffle bag podcast where he announced “I’m out … dropping my last album next year”. The rapper announced he had other plans and the first signing to his label shows exactly what the plans are.

Zino records first signing Lylo gold is an RnB singer from East London, her debut project ‘Heartache and Wray’ was released in 2018 and has helped her garner just over half a million streams on Spotify. 

 The 28-year-old RnB singers love-filled lyrics and soft voice make her an exciting artist out of the UK’s still underappreciated RnB scene. In the post announcing her signing Nines labelled her “the future of R&B”.

In an interview with Music Week, Gold said “I’m really excited to be joining the Zino records family – it’s going to be a really incredible experience and I can’t wait to put out brand new music with the team!”

Nines is a staple of the UK rap scene having released seven albums since his first project ‘From Church rd. to Hollywood’ which he released in 2012. The artist charted at number one with his most recent project ‘Crabs in a Bucket’  making him one of the most popular artists in the UK rap scene and is why the announcement of his retirement was so shocking. 

The rappers plan to move away from making music is clear, with the first signing to his label Zino records. The signing of Lylo Gold looks to be the start of Nines move away from rapping and leaves fans excited to see what will come next from Zino records and Lylo Gold.

18-year-old Singer Kamal has released his most recent single ‘lose’ and has announced his upcoming project ‘War outside’ which will be released on June 11. The single titled ‘lose’ was released last week accompanied by a video that saw the young RnB singer in a number of tranquil locations.

The EP from the singer out of North West London will be his first project, after having released 6 songs so far including ‘homebody’, the only other song from the upcoming project to have been released.

The young artist announced the release on his Instagram with the simple caption “my first EP ‘War outside’ drops June 11” accompanied with a photo of the project cover and tracklist.

The project follows a surprise feature on UK superstar Dave’s song ‘Mercury’ which the South London rapper released after a long hiatus in a two-pack titled, ’Titanium & Mercury’.

The young songwriter covers topics of anxiety, love and night bus trip, his unique voice and raw talent make him one of the UK’s most exciting emerging stars. He is signed to independent label Neighbourhood home to collaborator and young British star Dave.

He gained a lot of attention during lockdown having released his last 3 singles during this time, in an interview with the telegraph the 18-year-old singer said “I think that’s why my songs have picked up traction, everyone is stuck at home, so they clicked with it,”

Kamal’s debut EP” ‘War outside’ will be released on June 11 and will feature seven songs, the title track ‘War outside’  was previewed by the artist on Instagram in a clip he posted and captioned “there’s a war outside” in early March.

The single written by J Warner and James himself holds a relaxing groove throughout, exploring themes of patience in love and relationships. Production was handled by Louis Mattrs, who has collaborated with James before on multiple tracks including his hit ‘Until Morning’ which propelled the two into the limelight with aid from COLORS. Additional production credits include Canadian producer STINT, whose discography includes placements from the likes of NAO, Sabrina Claudio, Gallant and Joji. Hourglass also released alongside a ‘Movement Visual’ for the track directed by Cam Turnbull with choreography and performance by Nqobile Danseur.

James originally gained recognition in 2018 by featuring on the German YouTube channel COLORS, a space dedicated to providing a platform for upcoming artists in R&B/hip-hop and beyond through live performances. James’ performance of his slow ballad Until Morning has since amassed over 24million views on the channel, catapulting him into the channels most popular uploads among other huge artists including Daniel Caesar, Jorja Smith and Gunna. This single led to his sophomore EP of the same title, a four track venture that would open the doors for many future collaborations for his third EP. ‘Overture’ arrived in 2020, featuring production from EDM talent turned hip-hop wiz Kenny Beats, and dance/pop producer SG Lewis. It is with that that we arrive at James’ debut album rollout, with the third single Hourglass adding to the roster of singles including the sophisticated ‘Somewhere, Out There’ and the dream collaboration ‘Come To Me’ with neo-soul legend Musiq Soulchild.

The second single for Man Made also saw its arrival on streaming services today. The thought provoking ‘Kali V2’, produced by Earbuds, is the ninth track on the album and is accompanied by trippy visuals to fit the psychedelic sound she has carved her own lane in. The political undertones of the track are accompanied by the hashtag ‘#FACTCHECKTHEFACTCHECKERS’, a statement that can also be found on merch of hers on the store.

With the registering of the alias, Vague Detail mean business. Their latest single released under the name is titled ‘How Does It Feel’ featuring vocalist/songwriter Anuka, a moody ballad reminiscent of trap-soul showcasing Kaleem’s vocal ability once more. The track along with the already released ‘Broken (Intro)’ is part of an upcoming extended play. The self-titled venture has been described on the duo’s Spotify bio as “a captivating 5-track experience” and “a sincere dive into the anxiety that accompanies feeling unprepared for life’s twists and turns, and the subsequent impact on the surrounding parties”.

With an expected summer release, ‘Vague Detail’ is set to bring a sophisticated take on R&B music, featuring many elements of the duo’s solo works, combining the romantic vocals of Kaleem with the crisp production style of The Code. As well as the release of How Does It Feel on streaming services, Kaleem took to Instagram live last night to give fans a live rendition of the track. After releasing a spree of breakout extended plays on their Soundcloud in 2016, experimenting with artists from around the globe, including the likes of Sango, Lyves and James Vincent McMorrow, Sonder looked to expand their palette in search of new sounds. After their ‘Into’ EP, a sensual seven track journey spawning the hit ‘Too Fast’, the enigmatic nature was broken revealing Sonder to the world along with the rising vocalist Brent Faiyaz at the vocal helm. Since 2017, the group have spent time in the UK working on music, including the recording of a chunk of Brent’s most recent solo venture ‘Fuck The World’.

It is unknown whether this most recent song was recorded during the groups time in London, but this collaboration has been long sought after by R&B fans alike, with both artists acknowledging each other in the past. This new single signals a revival of the Sonder alias, with the upload of a new video to YouTube exclusively by the group titled ‘TOO LATE TO DIE YOUNG’. The 13-minute film includes snippets of new music over a backdrop of various location shots and studio footage, directed by Liam Walsh and producer Dpat. As well as Sonders re-emergence, Jorja Smith has been active as a solo artist herself, with her new single ‘Addicted’ gracing streaming platforms last month before this collaboration. Both artists are in positions to release new projects in 2021, and these new tracks serves as taster for what’s in store for summer and beyond.

The Motown signed artist has returned with a remix EP of her beloved project, blending genres such as reggae and jazz with her R&B sound. ‘At Sixes And Sevens Remixed’ provides a fresh take on five of the original tracks, with an array of features spanning the globe. The first track keeps us in London with up and coming singer JVCK JAMES, as does track two where Tiana recruits Haile, one half of the UK duo WSTRN. After these two songs we take a trip overseas to sunny Los Angeles, where tracks three and four offer remixes from Long Beach rapper Vince Staples and Inglewood R&B artist SiR. The final remix features Kingston born producer and singer BEAM, whose infectious vocals add flavour to the reggae infused track.

This remix EP follows her acoustic version of the project also, featuring stripped back versions of all the tracks. With a growing fanbase, both projects are set to help Tiana achieve new levels of fame for the eventual release of her highly anticipated debut album on Motown Records. With Collide going as far as to receive a nod from the Grammys in 2020, there is set to be a promising career ahead for the Newham raised artist. Fans are eager to hear what’s next in store, with the remix EP cleansing the palette for a while until the next chapter.
