Pop-punk band Green Day have announced that they will be coming to the UK next year, following the release of their new album ‘Revolution Radio’, which comes out in October.

The band, led by Billie Joel Armstrong haven’t toured the UK fully since 2009, but have played ‘one off’ shows and festivals since.

The band will only be playing three shows in the UK, going to Leeds, Manchester and London. Although, according to the Green Day Authority, many fans believe that the band is going to be announcing more tour dates in the very near future, as soon as this week. It is certainly possible that the size of this European tour could grow, or that the band could come back later in the year after tours elsewhere in the world.

The first single from the new album, Bang Bang, is out now. Describing the track in an interview with Rolling Stone, Billie Joe Armstrong said it is ‘about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media.’ When asked Armstrong about the album’s title track, he revealed that the Black Lives Matter movement played a part in its writing process. “I was in a car coming from Brooklyn to Manhattan and there was these protesters for Ferguson holding up traffic all the way back across the bridge,” he began.

The band haven’t released an album in four years, with the last being the trilogy albums ‘¡Uno!’, ‘¡Dos!, ‘¡Tré!’ which didn’t do too well.

Tickets for the tour will be out on 9 September. The dates for both UK and European shows are below:
