Five years since Reuben, the underground heroes who tore the music scene several new arseholes throughout the noughties, disbanded in 2008, their energetic and multi talented frontman is back, with new album Muscle Memory set to begin his musical journey all over again. The album is set to be divided into two, with one side focussing more on the post-hardcore/alternative rock sound that was Reuben’s trademark, whilst the other half is filled with folk and jazz tunes. A slightly peculiar combination, but one we are backing Lenman to pull off successfully. Earlier today he posted this on his Facebook page.

“Hello everyone, it’s your good friend Jamie Lenman here. It’s been a while!

I’m writing to tell you all that I’ve recorded an album and it’s going to be released with my old pals Xtra Mile on November the 4th. The record is called ‘Muscle Memory’; it’s a double album of 23 tracks and I’m very proud of it. The record is split in two with one half extreme, aggressive metal and the other half all folk and jazz – and I’m hoping it’ll split your minds in two also. You can pre-order it at [http://www.xtramilerecordings.com/MusicDetails.aspx?rid=687&fid=12&brid=5]”

Being the nice chap that he is, he has also released a video for two of the tracks from the album, Fizzy Blood and Pretty Please, which can be viewed at the bottom of this page. It shows Lenman sporting a fantastic moustache. If that doesn’t swing your interest then nothing will. The track listing for the record has also been released, which can be found below.

1. The Six Fingered Hand

2. Fizzy Blood

3. No News Is Good News

4. One Of My Eyes Is A Clock

5. Shower Of Scorn

6. A Terrible Feeling

7. The Fuck Of It All

8. All The Things You Hate About Me, I Hate Them Too

9. Gary, Indiana

10. A Plague On Both Your Houses

11. Muscle

12. Shotgun House

13. I Ain’t Your Boy

14. It’s Hard To Be A Gentleman

15. For God’s Sake

16. Little Lives

17. If You Have To Ask You’ll Never Know

18. Pretty Please

19. A Quiet Understanding

20. Saturday Night

The London rockers have taken to Kerrang! to premiere their latest video, Honestly.

With an essence of now defunct cult legends Reuben about them, Press To Meco have all the makings of getting to where Reuben never could do, which is recognition across the country. Not saying Reuben weren’t a fantastic band; they were one of the brightest groups to enter the UK scene in the last couple of decades and the lack of attention they received was criminal, but hopefully Press To Meco will be able to push it to the next level.

Combining the best parts of the UK alternative scene, a pinch of post-hardcore and a good old fashioned rock attitude, they have all the makings of a good future. Honestly, taken from recent EP Affinity showcases the threesome at their best, blending all three members’ (Luke Caley on guitars and vocals, Adam Roffey on bass and vocals and Lewis Williams on drums and vocals) vocal talents to create a melody that is as catchy as the common cold. Backed up with a hard hitting riff, it all merges into one of the top tracks to have been released this year so far.

Press To Meco go on tour with fellow British rockers Lower Lands and Beyond Recall this September. Dates are below.

Thursday 5th – Lincoln The Scene

Friday 6th – Birmingham TBC

Saturday 7th – Newcastle Think Tank

Sunday 8th – Manchester FAC251

Monday 9th – Islington Academy

Tuesday 10th – Reading Facebar

Wednesday 11th – Southampton The Joiners

Thursday 12th – Brighton Audio

Friday 13th – Bristol The Fleece

You can check out Press To Meco’s video for Honestly from the link below. Affinity is available to buy now.
