Yesterday 2manydjs announced the re-release of their seminal album, As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt.2 and a one-off London show to celebrate the event. The press release states: “In the first two decades of the 21st century, few have controlled the cultural weather quite like Stephen and David Dewaele. The Dewaeles are familiar to millions as 2manydjs, a project which undoubtedly moved the needle for modern DJing. In 2002, after a string of creative broadcasts on radio while still known primarily as a rock band, they released As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt.2 [AHORS]”.

It goes on to say: “This was a mix so giddy, creative, genre-blurring and downright fun that it could only be considered equal to a full-length album — which is exactly what happened, tallying Album of the Year and Album of the Decade accolades from the likes of The New York Times, Spin, The Face, Pitchfork and more, and shifting over half a million copies globally”.

We have been informed that the album will get the deluxe reissue treatment — with Richard Young’s famous original photography for AHORS returned to its proper place after being saved from the depths of legal trouble. And finally, this groundbreaking mix will be made available on streaming services for the first time ever. So, a new generation of fans will be able to hear a piece of electronic music history on DSPs.

The special one-off concert will kick off AHORS‘ 20th-anniversary celebrations. 2manydjs will be performing alongside Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, Kittin, and other 2002-specific special guests yet to be announced at the O2 Academy Brixton on Saturday, December 17th. Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 7th and are available here.

The Dewaeles continue to promote cutting-edge electronic music through their Ghent studio and record label DEEWEE, including the catchy “Topical Dancer” by Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, one of 2022’s most lauded electronic-pop albums. They’ve also maintained a strong remixing streak, giving artists like Róisin Murphy, Peggy Gou, Robyn, Sylvester, Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg, and Marie Davidson their distinct jagged-yet-refined electro touch. Despacio, the roving audiophile soundsystem that the Dewaeles undertake alongside LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, completes the picture.

Together with like-minded collaborators like Erol Alkan, Tiga, and Jacques lu Cont, 2manydjs brought a rock ‘n roll mentality to club culture and sent dancefloors into a frenzy. The Dewaele brothers rose to the top of dance music thanks to their distinctive sound, which managed to be both incredibly credible and enormously scalable, and from which they never descended. AHORS served as their genre-defying calling card.

The press release finishes: “Their long-awaited DSPs drop and 20th-anniversary party in London will rubber-stamp over two decades’ worth of work. As ever, it’s Stephen and David Dewaele connecting the past, present and future like no-one else; as they say, “doing it the hard way since 2002.”

As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt.2 20th Anniversary Party:

The official UK midweek album charts have confirmed a huge win for The Cribs, all three of the indie band’s re-releases have positioned high within the charts. The British rockers rose to prominence during the mid-00s and have remained a family affair throughout their career. Hailing from West Yorkshire, the band consists of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and younger brother Ross. After the band secured their cult status amongst music fans, former The Smiths member Johnny Marr joined the group from 2008-2011.

The band recently released re-issues of their three earliest albums, their debut LP The Cribs, The New Fellas and third studio album Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever; all three releases have made it to the UK album top ten. Placing at number eight is the group’s self-titled debut album, The Cribs was self-produced by the group and was recorded in the span of a week. The album was released in 2004 via London-based independent label Wichita Recordings and marked the band’s first entry into the era’s blossoming indie rock scene.

The group’s follow-up to their debut release has placed at number seven, The New Fellas was released in 2005 and sired the brother’s great critical acclaim. The album was included within NME’s Album Of The Year list of 2005 where it placed at eleven, The New Fellas also placed within Q Magazine’s list of Albums of the Century. The album’s first single “Hey Scenesters!” was quickly adapted as the indie scene’s anthem and remains a key part of the genre’s cannon.

The Cribs’ third studio album Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever has charted at number four. Often regarded as the band’s breakthrough album it was released in 2007 to critical and commercial acclaim, the album charted at number thirteen through its original release. The LP included one of the group’s biggest and most well-known single, “Men’s Needs” initially charted at number seventeen on the UK singles charts giving the group their highest chart position to date within the singles chart.

The band of brothers are currently performing a string of intimate gigs in the UK, Ryan spoke with NME concerning their recent album chart success, “We’ve been so busy playing multiple shows a day and haven’t really had any days off, so we haven’t really had chance to process it yet – but it’s certainly not what we were expecting when we did these reissues,”

The frontman continues, “The fundamental reason for doing these reissues was because the vinyl had been out of print for such a long time. We didn’t expect anything like this, but it’s amazing. We really appreciate it because it means that people still care about the records. That’s not always going to be a given, all this time down the line. It’s been a pretty crazy last couple of days. We’re so psyched.”

Ryan proceeds to discuss the band’s early work charting higher now than when originally released, “The first albums came out right in the heart of the whole file-sharing era so they didn’t really chart at all, It means a lot to see the first album in the Top 10, because that album was recorded before we had a record deal or anything. That feels really special because I never thought I’d see that record in the charts.“

He concludes, “That’s the only record in the Top 10 that cost £900 to record and was funded by working in a factory. The perversity of going up against Beyoncé and those big-hitters with a record that was made in that way is what means the most to us. It’s surreal.”

The band will next perform in Leeds on Thursday 4th August 2022, the date was added to the tour schedule as an extra date due to popular demand and will mark the final performance of their UK shows. On Tuesday 30thAugust 2022, The Cribs will embark on a string of US performances where they will support fellow indie rockers Modest Mouse for nine dates.

The Queen guitarist is re-releasing his first solo album ‘Back to the Light’ which was first released in September 1992. The highly acclaimed album has long been unavailable in any format and May was said to have been “nervous” about revisiting his back catalogue. However, he has since had a change of heart and is now excited for new fans to hear the remastered version when it drops on August 6th.

“They know me as guitarist for Queen. Some know me as an astronomer. Some know me as a campaigner for animal rights. I’m a sort of evangelist for 3-D Victorian Stereoscopy. But very few people have heard my solo output. So I’m excited to see how this turns out. I found it fascinating going back in there and rediscovering why I wrote certain things. What they meant to me. How we recorded. Some of it is so massive in the recording I can hardly believe we pulled it off – it’s very epic, some of it. And I like that. And at the same time, there’s little corners of it which are very simple, very understated, very emotionally naked. I discovered so much of what I’m saying in the album I still feel. I still feel those dangers, those fears, those hopes, those dreams.”

When the album was originally released it was very popular hitting No. 6 in the UK album charts producing many great singles. It was first introduced to Queen fans during a highly emotional performance at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Wembley Stadium, in April 1992. At the concert, May played the fifth track on the record “Too Much Love Will Kill You” which reached No. 5 in the UK charts.

The album is already available for pre-order as a Collector’s Edition box set that will include a white-vinyl LP, two CD’s the second CD, ‘Out of the Light’, containing alternative versions, B-Sides and live tracks, a 32-page book, a 12” art print, a download card as well as an enamel badge all presented in a lift-lid box and that’s not forgetting 1 LP black vinyl, 1 CD, deluxe 2CD, cassette, and digital formats. There is also a limited edition including a signed 12” art print and a 1LP picture disc that is available on the Queen Online Store, but you may want to be quick as they are selling out fast.

According to the guitarist, this is just the beginning as this record is only the first in a series of planned re-releases stating that “each one of them will give me the opportunity to rediscover the road that I travelled.”

Originally formed in Birmingham in 1968 by the original line up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler. They became Pioneers of their genre and are widely considered the original Heavy Metal Rock band. Their first three album releases Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master Of Reality helped them solidify themselves to the statement of the first Heavy Metal Rock band. This gained them widespread fame across the world and has noted them as one of the all-time greats in the rock music world.

When released back in 1972, Vol.4 hit out with negative reviews from critics (which was a theme for the band) but as with their previous three albums it sold very well and within the month it was released it had achieved gold status and was another success for the band. Thanks to the success of the 4th album, the band went on an extended world tour, taking them around New Zealand for the first time. the band truly in their heyday didn’t feel burnt out.

Not only that but the “fourth disc features a tracklist that represents a typical live show from Black Sabbath’s 1973 tour in support of the record. The forthcoming album marks the first time a full ’73 Sabbath concert has been recreated.”. The price tag of £135 is starting to make sense with the sheer amount of content that fans will be gaining from this purchase.

Despite this monumental news for fans of the band it doesn’t mean a come back for the Heavy Metal band. This comes a month after Ozzy Osbourne expressed “he has no interest in reuniting with Black Sabbath to play more shows in the future.”. However, Fans can still relive the glory days with this re-release.

Scottish singer and songwriter Gerry Cinnamon is releasing a new ‘definitive’ version of his second studio album The Bonny at midnight tonight in the UK. The original album was released back in April and does not include the new track Ghost that will feature on the re-release.

New versions of the singles Kampfire Vampire and Fickle McSelfish will also be included in the re-release. Cinnamon noted on social-media that Ghost was written around the same time as the two previously released singles, in addition to the track Roll the Credits, and he is pleased they can all be together in this new version of the record.

The Glasgow artist began his cult-following in 2014 when he released his first debut single Hope Over Fear and performed it at a festival supporting the Referendum of Scottish Independence, inadvertently making him widely popular through the Yes campaign. After a string of successful festival gigs at T in the Park, he was awarded Best Live Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2016.

Cinnamon remained unsigned throughout his career and still managed to headline a sold-out show at the O2 ABC venue in Glasgow. Shortly after he released his first full-length album in 2017 called Erratic Cinematic and produced by Chris Marshall.

The album reached #1 on the UK charts for singer-songwriters and briefly outsold Ed Sheeran before landing the #6 overall slot. In promotion for the album, 2 Barrowland Ballroom concerts were announced on the back on the Erratic Cinematic CD and sold-out immediately. This accomplishment had never been done by an unsigned artist and landed Cinnamon a spot in the Barrowland Ballroom Hall of Fame along with massive icons including David Bowie.

Among other accomplishments that the Scottish born artist has achieved, he has won The Great Scot Award for entertainment and broken the record for the most ever indoor attendance at a Scottish venue, with 15,000 audience members at the P&J Live Show in Aberdeen. He the went on to open for Liam Gallagher during his Australian national tour.

Cinnamon held a Scottish, English and Irish tour in 2018 which sold-out and continued onto many headlining shows, including Glastonbury, throughout 2019. This year the artist then released his second full-length album, The Bonny, which was met with tremendous critical praise.

The original release of The Bonny went # 1 on the UK and Irish album charts and was the fastest selling vinyl record of 2020. The album was released under Cinnamon’s self-created label Little Runway.

Cinnamon had to reschedule all of his concerts, including opening for DropKick Murphy’s American tour, as well as all of his 2020 show dates. He has rescheduled these dates for 2021 due to safety concerns surrounding the global Covid-19 health crisis and will appear in multiple festivals in the coming year.

The re-release of Cinnamon’s second full-length album The Bonny will drop at midnight and will be available for download and on all streaming platforms. Tickets for Cinnamon’s upcoming concerts are available here.
