With over 30 years in the industry as one of the UK’s top rock bands, Muse have always had a flair for the dramatic. Now the Devon trio appear to be ominously building up to their first music of the year with a little taster video for a track seemingly named ‘Be With You’.

Formed in Teignmouth, Devon in 1994, the three-piece of singer-guitarist-pianist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard have been a force in both the British and international rock scene since 2001 breakthrough album ‘Origin Of Symmetry’. After this, their last 7 studio albums have all topped the UK Official Album Charts, they’ve won the BRIT Award for best British Live Act twice, as well as being graced with two Grammys and an Ivor Novello Award. While Muse are undoubtedly brilliant on recording, it is their spectacular live performances that have won them most of their acclaim, leading them to the world’s largest stadiums and festival bills.

Their experimental progressive rock sound has explored electronic and symphonic styles, as well as delving into pop ballads and rock-opera suites. 2022 LP ‘Will Of The People’ was a slightly limp, by-the-books offering, with the band charting already-tested waters for the first time in a while. However their latest single, 2025’s ‘Unravelling’ saw Muse return to the lab, incorporating darker EDM synthesiser cuts and even meddling with “djent”, a progressive metal sound defined by oppressive down-tuned guitar riffs.

Following on from last year’s 6-Part Docuseries ‘With You’, a glimpse into the band’s relationship with their global fanbase, they released the teaser ‘Be With You’ today. Perhaps either a poetic tribute to the supporters who buy millions of Muse albums and tickets every year, or simply a demo of a soon-to-be-released single, the video is certainly open to various interpretations. What is plain is that this is music we haven’t heard yet, and it’s very, very interesting.

The video is beautifully atmospheric throughout its entire 1-minute and 26-second duration, consisting of frontman Matt Bellamy performing what sounds like a hymn at an organ in a magnificent, dimly-lit church. The sermon builds up with his iconic falsetto voice, before ending abruptly with what sounds like a crash of metal guitar blasts and drums. A string of numbers and letters appears on the screen at the end, which fans on Reddit quickly identified as a nod to the 1977 “Wow! Signal” – a detection of a radio wave which was considered evidence of extra-terrestrial life. This is likely a stage in an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) allowing fans to solve puzzles to find the inspiration of the album, or uncover more new music.

After their summer run of European festivals last year, Muse currently only have the one US live date scheduled for this year, at Milwaukee’s Summerfest in July. This could all change with the full announcement of new music, as the band have been known to sneakily announce stadium tours with little warning. For further news, the band run a mailing list which has given subscribers the drop on news first.

The festival announced a second wave of acts in November, including the likes of French math-rock group Totorro and Chinese post-punkers Fazi, already joining experimental rockers such as Brontide, Mouse On The Keys and Cats and Cats and Cats. Now, they have confirmed their two headliners – with Missouri group FOXING joining for the Saturday, and alt-rock fusion artist Julie Christmas taking the top slot on Sunday, in an exclusive UK performance.

Upon sharing the stage splits, the festival reminded concert goers to remember that “the Hall never clashes with either of the other stages.” – so only the Theatre and the Bar stages will be running at the same time.

The festival started out as a one-day event in 2018 at The Dome & Boston Music Room in Tufnell Park, North London. Since then, it has become one of the most significant showcases of post rock, math rock and underground contemporary UK music. Some past performers include Mono, If These Trees Could Talk, Lite, Bossk and ASIWYFA, who will be returning to the stage at this years edition.

In an Insta post, the festival shared their excitement for the return of ASIWYFA, aka As I Watched You From Afar: “We’re over the moon to have one of our all time favourites back again, after their stunning headline performance at our ’23 edition. They will again play a headline length set. You know you want it.

This time they are fresh off their incredible 2024 album ‘Megafauna’ which received glowing reviews and is a triumphant collection of music that draws influences from across the band’s 20 years career.”

The festival also previewed headliner Julie Christmas, her most recent release and her current band on their official website: ‘Ridiculous and Full of Blood’, a heart-on-sleeve chapter-by-chapter storybook of the conflicting elements of her own character, is the most comprehensive declaration of this musician’s talents yet, spanning from alt-pop to post-metal with a staggering array of talent onboard. Guitarist/ vocalist Johannes Persson (Cult of Luna), drummer Chris Enriquez (Spotlights), bassist/ producer Andrew Schneider, guitarist John LaMacchia (Candiria) and keyboardist extraordinaire Tom Tierney were all paramount in bringing these new, genre-smashing tunes to life.

All lineup details, event information and tickets can be found on the Portals Website, here.

The singles are taken from a soundtrack album, set for release on 2 May, supporting the limited theatrical run for the film, beginning on 24 April.

The restoration effort uses the original 35mm footage, accompanied with newly mixed audio, courtesy of Steven Wilson. The 2025 version of the film will be the fourth iteration, and with the upcoming film featuring documentary footage of the band working on ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, it seems it will be a remaster of the 1974 edition, which was the most commercially successful cut too. The accompanying soundtrack album marks the first time that an album has been released alongside a theatrical cut too.

The film was directed by Adrian Maben, who also conceived of the project. Maben envisioned the would-be concert as an “anti-Woodstock”, where the amphitheater itself could be used as an instrument, and the band would play amongst the natural sounds of their environment. Drummer Nick Mason revealed that Maben described the idea as being “where there would be nobody present, and the music and the silence… would mean as much as, if not more than, a crowd of thousands.”

Filmed in 1971 and released in 1972, the first version of the film featured just the performance. Two years later, at Maben’s suggestion, the film was recut, now including 20 minutes of documentary footage of the band in the studio recording ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’.. In 2002, a special director’s cut was released which introduced new edits, including footage from the Apollo missions, and heavily edited the setlist included from the performance, including omitting some songs entirely.

The music video for the recently released ‘One Of These Days’ has racked up 300k views on YouTube in four days, and has been noted for its focus on the drumming of Nick Mason. One X user noticed the lack of footage of the rest of the band, which consisted of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Mason. Another Floyd fan responded that the original footage had been lost before the original cut had even been released. Still, the video gives one of rock’s greatest, yet often under-appreciated drummers, his dues.

Reflecting on Hertfordshire’s progressive rock band Porcupine Tree’s 2021 reunion, founding member Steven Wilson has hinted at the possibility of more new music from the band in the near future. Porcupine Tree, formed in 1987, built up a considerable cult following in their more than two decade existence before disbanding 2010, with members citing a preference to devote attention to solo projects.

Porcupine Tree reformed in 2021 to release a new record, Closure/Continuation and embark on a worldwide tour. According to Wilson, working together to produce new material and playing live once more as group rekindled the motivation to continue Porcupine Tree and that a further reunion project may be on the cards.

Speaking to The Prog Report, Wilson said, “We really enjoyed it in a way that we probably never enjoyed it in the previous incarnation. I think there was a sense of it being, I wouldn’t say without any sense of pressure, but there was a lot less pressure this time around. There was no pressure to try and make it into something it wasn’t, because it was kind of a one-off thing.”

Wilson added, “We had a great time touring together, and it was great to see so many people that probably never got the chance to see the band 15 years ago — a lot of young kids coming to the shows and whole families coming, dads bringing their sons and daughters to shows and stuff like that. And it was great to play that old music….I don’t think we’re ruling out another possible reunion somewhere in the future. But if this was the end, it felt like a much more pleasing way to end the story than I think had been left hanging in the air prior to that.”

Closure/Continuation marked the band’s first new album since 2009 and, amidst the member’s various busy work schedules on other projects, Porcupine Tree began recording the album in relative secrecy. With the Covid pandemic effectively making it difficult to devote time to solo endeavours, the band found the perfect excuse to finally finish Closure/Continuation and release it in 2022.

Even if Porcupine Tree do decide to call it a day on touring, Wilson believes that the band may yet record another album, saying, “I suspect it will be the last time we’ll tour. I think it’s quite possible we might make another record. In fact, I was speaking with Richard about it….I wondered about making a Porcupine Tree record where we just focused on keyboards, rather than guitars. It would have to be something different to justify doing it. But I suspect we probably wouldn’t tour again. I think in my heart, I think this is probably the last round for sure.”

Roger Waters, co-founder and former lead songwriter of iconic rock band Pink Floyd, has released two new songs from his upcoming Redux edition of The Dark Side Of The Moon. The reimagined version of his old band’s classic record is due to hit stores on October 6 and marks 50 years since the original topped charts in 1973.

“Speak To Me” and “Breathe” follow previously shared reinterpretations of “Time” and “Money” and set the tone for Waters’ daring new twist on an album that has captivated generations of music lovers. In a spoken word introduction, Waters recites the opening verse of “Free Four”, a track from Pink Floyd’s 1972 LP Obscured By Clouds, before launching into a brooding, organ-driven soundscape.

Watch the official lyric video for “Speak To Me/Breathe” below:

While some fans may maintain that such an undisputed masterpiece of a record is better left untouched, Waters feels that half a century on, the Floyd’s magnum opus deserves a reimagining. In a recent press release, he explained:

“The original ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ feels in some ways like the lament of an elder being on the human condition. But Dave, Rick, Nick and I were so young when we made it, and when you look at the world around us, clearly the message hasn’t stuck. That’s why I started to consider what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could bring to a reimagined version.”

Waters, who co-produced the album alongside Gus Seyffert, recruited members of his touring band to help record The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux. The two other living Pink Floyd members, guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason, did not take part in the project – although the latter did reveal he’d heard some snippets:

“He [Waters] actually sent me a copy of what he was working on and I write to him and said, ‘Annoyingly, it’s absolutely brilliant!’ It was and is. It’s not anything that would be a spoiler for the original at all, it’s an interesting add-on to the thing.”

Waters plans to perform songs from the new album at special live concerts at the London Palladium on October 8 and 9.

The band will play Glasgow and London respectively and will perform their album Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow in its entirety. They will also be including a mix of songs from their most recent effort, Vaxis-Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind which the band released last year.

This news will come as quite a relief to UK fans of the band, owing to the fact that Coheed and Cambria were forced to cancel two festival dates as well as four shows in Europe-the band citing personal reasons for the cancellations. The band however, will still be performing at Download Festival in Derby and the two UK dates.

The band are currently touring the United States, before heading to the UK for Download this weekend

Released in 2007, Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow was Coheed and Cambria’s fourth studio album and a direct sequel to Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. Both of these records represented a narrative that was a part of a larger story called The Amory Wars.

The fourth and final concept album, was a massive success for the band, debuting at number 6 on the Billboard charts and leading to a world wide tour as well as numerous headlining shows in both the US and Europe. The album is perhaps also notable for being the only Coheed and Cambria record to feature Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters fame, on drums.

Formed in 1995 in New York, Coheed and Cambria made a name for themselves within the burgeoning post hardcore and emo scenes. The band is has been able to carve a unique niche for themselves, with all of their albums (except one) thus far representing a concept body of work. The albums are based off of a science fiction narrative, written by big-haired guitarist and vocalist Claudio Sanchez. Seeking to further delve into the world that he created, Sanchez has also released The Amory Wars as a comic series and novel.

In addition to the band’s busy schedule, guitarist Travis Stever is one of five members that make up the supergroup LS Dunes. Forming during the pandemic, the band have released one album, touring the UK back in January.

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters shared the first snippet of his reworking of ‘Us and Them’ on YouTube this week. This is part of Waters’ project of reworking Pink Floyd’s iconic The Dark Side of the Moon, the band’s best-selling album released 50 years ago on 1st March.

Waters spoke to The Telegraph about embarking on this project, saying, “not enough people recognised what it’s about, what it was I was saying then.” He believes this to be the perfect opportunity to point fans in the right direction, stating in the accompanying caption to the snippet of ‘Us and Them’ that reworking the album would provide a good opportunity to “re-address the political and emotional message of the whole album.”

Waters acknowledged that “it’s not a replacement for the original which, obviously, is irreplaceable.”

He continues, “But it is a way for the seventy nine year old man to look back across the intervening fifty years into the eyes of the twenty nine year old and say, to quote a poem of mine about my Father, “We did our best, we kept his trust, our Dad would have been proud of us”. And also it is a way for me to honor a recording that Nick and Rick and Dave and I have every right to be very proud of.”

Relationships between the ex-band members haven’t always been the best since Waters’ exit in 1985, with Waters anticipating backlash to this rerecording project. He told The Telegraph, “I wrote ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’. Let’s get rid of all this ‘we’ crap! Of course we were a band, there were four of us, we all contributed, but it’s my project and I wrote it. So… blah!”

Waters also revealed to The Telegraph that this project had been “secretly” in the works for months, reworking the entire track list “from scratch” unbeknownst to ex-band members David Gilmour and Nick Mason.

He is reportedly “planning a lavish vinyl release” of the rerecording, with the release date pushed back from March to May as Waters keeps “tinkering with recordings.”

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon,’ Pink Floyd have also announced a reissued version, due to be released on 24th March. The reissue will also include a live recording of Pink Floyd’s 1974 Wembley Stadium show.

A book will also become available on 24th March, titled ‘Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon: 50th Anniversary.‘ The book will include rare and unseen photos taken during tours between 1972 and 1975.

Additionally, harking back to Pink Floyd’s successful stargazing events at the London Planetarium in 1973, fans will also be able to experience ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ stargazing events at planetariums around the world.

Progressive rock group Black Peaks have announced that they are splitting up. The Brighton four-piece, who released their last studio album ‘All That Divides’ in 2018, made the announcement this morning July 26.

The band released a statement on their social media that reads “The time has come to bring Black Peaks to its close,” the band’s statement begins. “Over the past four years, we have dealt with some incredibly hard and demanding situations which we have done our absolute best to work through. Unfortunately, we have reached a point where we don’t feel we can continue in a way that is healthy for us.”

Black Peaks then went on to thank all their fans “Thank you for being the greatest support network we could’ve ever hoped for. We have achieved things that we never thought would be possible when we began this journey. So, for supporting our vision, we owe you our utmost gratitude.

They then finished with “A special thank you to our team, who we believe to be some of the best in business. It has been our pleasure to learn from and grow with these wonderful humans over the last 10 years and we couldn’t have done it without them.”

Black Peaks were first formed in 2012 and released their debut EP titled ‘Closer To The Sun’ in 2014. The band’s popularity hit its peak following their signing to RED Music and the release of the highly-regarded full-length album ‘Statues’ in 2016.

The group released their last work earlier this year a live album titled ‘Live At The Brighton Centre’, which was recorded during a recent Livestream show at the named venue.
