The album has proved a huge commercial success with over 44,000 chart sales, a large percentage of the figures owing to physical sales, 79% of the album’s sales are attributed to physical formats. Due to these incredible statistics, the album has also topped the Official Vinyl Album Chart and Official Record Store Chart. Whilst accepting his award, Ezra spoke to OfficialCharts.com concerning his win, “Officially Gold Rush Kid, thanks to you beautiful people, is Number 1 and that means the world to me. I hope you’re well, see you soon!”

This week’s number one album was released on 10th June via Columbia Records and was proceeded by three singles. The first track to be taken from the album was “Anyone For You (Tiger Lilly)”, the single was released on 28th January 2022 and debuted at number 32 within the UK singles charts. The second track taken from the chart-topping album was released on 22nd April 2022, “Green Green Grass” charted at number 6 on the UK charts and marked the singer’s seventh track to land in the top ten. The third single to be released, “I Went Hunting” was released on 2nd June 2022 and is the eighth song on the album’s tracklist.

Ezra’s latest hit album marks his third consecutive UK number one album, both of the singer’s previous albums also placed high within the UK album charts. The 29-year-old artist first saw chart success with his debut album Wanted On Voyage, the album was released on 30th June 2014 and debuted at number three on the UK charts. Due to the album’s great popularity, several months after its release the album jumped two positions to place at number one. The singer’s second studio album was released in 2018, Staying at Tamara’s secured its number one position soon after its release and contain the number one single “Shotgun”.

Elsewhere within this week’s charts, Styles’ second studio album has re-entered the album charts, Fine Line has charted at number six. Placing below Styles’ newest album is = by Ed Sheeran, the album has proved its staying power by positioning at number three. Placing at number four this week is What Came Before by Chase & Status, the electronic duo’s sixth studio album was released earlier this year to great applause. Closing the top five is American artist Post Malone’s Twelve Caret Toothache, the rapper’s fourth studio album was released on 3rd June 2022 and peaked at number three last week.

Jake Bugg surprised fans recently when he performed a rare full band live session where he performed a rocked up cover of Post Malone’s ‘Circles.’ The performance, which was uploaded to the singer’s Youtube channel, featured the American rapper’s song sung in the Nottingham born singer’s distinctive voice, with his trademark respect for classic rock & roll, country and blues.

With a three years now having passed since Jake Bugg’s last album release, ‘Hearts That Strain,’ fans will likely be excited to see new content from the man who brought them ‘Lightning Bolt,’ and looking for any potential clues which may point to a new album in the works. While this month’s cover of ‘Circles,’ seems to point in the direction of more band-like material as opposed to Bugg’s usual acoustic style, he has also released several singles through 2019 and 2020 which have kept fans guessing about what a potential new album might sound like.

The cover of a song by Post Malone, someone that wouldn’t necessarily be automatically associated with Jake Bugg, may an insight into the music that the singer is listening to right now. Post Malone himself has been known to perform a number of cover versions of some of the music which has inspired him, some of it not entirely expected, including grunge band Nirvana. However, while it may be true that Bugg has spent some time exploring some other musical forms in the time between albums, a listen to any of his recent singles is enough to realise that his rock and roll roots are still firmly in place.

While it is possible to hear echoes of much of the popular music in the past couple of decades in singles like ‘Rabbit Hole,’ with fellow Northerner’s Arctic Monkey’s most obvious on this track, the foundations of Jake Bugg’s sound is still deeply classic rock and roll, country and blues that inspire him. In fact, the title track from 2016’s ‘On My One,’ so deeply rooted in the blues that you’d more likely expect to hear something of its like somewhere near the Mississippi Delta rather than in Bugg’s homeland of Nottinghamshire.

Despite his evident love of the old roots of rock and roll, Jake Bugg is still young and it is clear that the modern pop sensibility is not lost on him, with his more traditional numbers often blended or seated alongside more modern sounds. 2020’s ‘All I Need,’ is surely his most modern single yet, with lead lines which wouldn’t sound out of place at the top of the charts complementing his distinctive voice and bass lines which move in unison.

There is certainly much of this year’s chart toppers to be heard in ‘All I Need,’ blended with the soulfulness which Bugg exudes without effort, suggesting a next album which may be the most exciting and contemporary sounding yet. While debut album ‘Jake Bugg,’ pleased listeners with its retro style and Johnny Cash inspired sound, all the signs are pointing to something much more modern in his next release, and it looks to be something very exiting indeed.

London’s British Summer Time (BST) has called it off for this year’s edition due to the concern over coronavirus. Originally, the festival was set to expand over two weekends: June 3-5 and again June 10-12. Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Duran Duran were booked to perform in Hyde Park.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided not to go ahead with BST Hyde Park 2020.” The organisers took to the social media, announcing the bad news after making such “difficult decision”. Read the full statement in the tweet below.

“This would have been the 8th year of this event and we were looking forward to putting on amazing, unique shows for hundreds of thousands of fans in the world’s greatest outdoor venue. But safety always comes first.”

In addition, the 2020 edition of BST would be special for the headlining artists as well. Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar were supposed to perform for the first time in a music festival, as both were also booked to appear at Glastonbury 2020, which is already cancelled too. Lamar also planned to play some new music from his upcoming album.

Meanwhile, legendary band Pearl Jam was set to make a return with their show at the festival since the release of ‘Lightning Bolt‘ in 2013. Duran Duran also planned to rock the stage for the first time in five years in the capital.

The organisers promised to bring BST back again in 2021. Those who already purchased tickets will be contacted from the agent for a refund process.

BST 2020 has been another victim of COVID-19 this year after many musical events have suffered the ill fate of cancellation. For now, let’s stay safe, watch our hands clean, and hope for a better day to come.

You can’t keep drumming up the same acts and expect people to continue to come and see them. Festivals have to be a reflection of what the public are listening to.”

Live Nation are appealing against new noise restrictions forced upon 2019 Wireless Festival.

Local residents had complained about the noise levels at last year’s event and levied for the festival to be moved. The main complaints were of noise levels, drug taking and anti-social behaviour from concert goers.

Last month, it was confirmed that the festival had been granted a licence to remain in London’s Finsbury Park, but the council have asked performers ‘not to swear or wear offensive clothing’. Instead of taking away Wireless completely, Haringey Council decided to change the licence conditions. These changes include a new noise level restriction and an end time 9.30 pm which is 30 minutes earlier than the previous years.

According to the Islington Gazette, Live Nation appealed against the early festival end time: ‘It will be seriously damaging to the commerciality and attractiveness of the event. Headline artists of international repute will not be interested in finishing their performance at 9.30pm before it is even dark enough for an effective light show as part of the climax the act. The audience will complain about early closing and the reputation of the event and the premises license holder will suffer.’

Attendees from this year’s event were already complaining about the low sound volume on the main stage as well as the overcrowding and long lines. Live Nation has also appealed against the council’s new restrictions of lower sound: ‘Wireless festival is unlikely to be commercially viable or practically feasible with such bass levels or with such sound levels on the adjoining Seven Sisters Road. Headline artists will be deterred from appearing and the enjoyment of the audience will be materially diminished, to the extent that extensive audience complaints about low sound levels will be received, there will be an adverse response on social media and the worldwide reputation will be affected.’

Live Nation lawyer, Philip Kolvin had said at the hearing Friends of Finsbury Park, there were demands for the festival captivity to be reduced from 45,000 to 10,000 people although he argued ‘it would put it out of business.’ Mr Kolvin also added: ‘Wireless is the only festival that fully represents the community in which its based. It’s a celebration of grime music, a genre that emerged from London, from the estates, from the inner city. It’s London music – therefore, the festival celebrates the music of the people.’

Last year’s event saw performances from J.Cole, Post Malone, Big Sean, Stormzy, Migos, French Montana DJ Khaled, Rick Ross and Cardi B. These are some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and electronic grime today. Next year’s festival dates will be from the 5th July until the 7th 2019, with acts still yet to be announced.

Finsbury Park is a 110-acre public park in North London, and is well connected to central London for those still looking to carry on the night, even when the festival finishes. The three-day event attracts 50,000 people and have seen past performances from Drake, Stormzy and J.Cole.

Tickets have yet to be released although you can sign up for the mailing list here.

New York rap superstar Post Malone has today announced details of his very first arena tour of the UK. Tickets go on sale here on Friday October 12, and you can see the full list of dates below.

The five UK and Ireland dates will be a part of a greater European tour, in support of Malone’s latest album Beerbongs & Bentleys, and his jaunt on these shores will kick off in Dublin on Valentine’s Day 2019, before returning and culminating the entire tour at London’s O2 Arena on March 13.

It’s also been announced recently that Post will be making his acting debut alongside Mark Wahlberg in a new Netflix series, following the likes of Kendrick Lamar (Power) and Joey BadA$$ (Mr. Robot), in turning his hand to acting. The project is titled Wonderland, and will be an adaptation of Ace Atkins’ novel Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland. He he will co-star alongside Wahlberg, as well as Black Panther‘s Winston Duke, comedian Iliza Shlesinger, and Argo‘s Alan Arkin.

Things appear to be looking up for Malone, following a bizarre streak of near tragic accidents. Back in August, the rapper’s private plane was forced to make an emergency landing, when the tyres of the plane burst on the runway, meaning the plane had to circle round and wait for a safe opportunity to land. Less than a month later, Malone was involved in an early morning car crash in West Hollywood. Malone wasn’t driving at the time, and no alcohol was involved in the incident, but both cars were written off.

A private plane carrying hip-hop megastar Posy Malone was forced to make an emergency landing, en route to Luton airport. TMZ reports that Malone’s aircraft blew two of its tires on the runway, as he took from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.

Knowing that they’d have to make the landing, the pilot of the plane circled around the New York area for a few hours, to burn fuel. They were then forced to land at New York Stewart International Airport, with fire and ambulance crews called, before the plane safely made it’s landing at around 9pm UK time last night.

Malone has taken to Twitter to give thanks to his fans for their support during a doubtlessly stressful affair, as well as to criticise his detractors who wished the worst on him during the incident.

Malone performed alongside Aerosmith at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Monday, where he also took home the prize for Song of the Year, for his track Rockstar, which also featured 21 Savage. Malone was flying to the UK as he is scheduled to play Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend, which is being headlined by Kings of Leon, Fall out Boy, and Kendrick Lamar this year.

Texas singer/rapper Post Malone is heading for his first UK number 1 album this week, after the release of his second album beerbongs & bentleys on Friday the 27th. Post rose to prominence in 2015 with the release of his single ‘White Iverson’, leading up to the release of his debut album Stoney. His debut went gold in the UK, and peaked at number 10 in the albums chart, and currently sits at number 27, two years after its release.

In the lead up to this album, Post released the single ‘Rockstar’ featuring 21 Savage, with reached number 1 in the UK singles chart, and went 2x platinum, selling over 1,000,000 copies.

beerbongs and bentleys has already gone platinum in Post’s native USA, selling over 1,000,000 copies in the space of just three days, which is a huge testament to how huge he has become in 3 years. It boasts huge features from artists like Nicki Minaj, G-Eazy and Swae Lee as well.

His new album has also broken streaming records as well, as the 18 songs on the album were streamed just under 79,000,000 times worldwide in just the first day of its release according to Spotify.

The record was initially set by J Cole’s new album KOD just a week before, but Post Malone received over 10,000,000 more first day streams than the North Carolina rapper.

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny that Post Malone is now a worldwide superstar, and he has an enormous fan base that are incredibly dedicated and passionate about his music.

The first performers have been announced for this August’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, with some marquee names confirmed to be playing across the bank holiday weekend, with many fans giving positive feedback to the early line-up. You can see the full bill below.

Topping the bill are Fall Out Boy, Kendrick Lamar, Kings of Leon, Wolf Alice, Skepta, and Courteeners. There;s also a spate of new artists who broke through in the last year or so making an appearance, like Post Malone, J Hus, Brockhampton, and Dua Lipa.

“There are very few places that can illustrate the growth of our band from its beginning,” said Fall Out Boy, as they return to headline. “However, Reading and Leeds is one of them. It is an honour to be able to headline a festival that we grew up playing and dreaming of that top spot.”

Kendrick Lamar is also returning to the fabled venues for the first time since 2015, and is wrapping up the UK leg of his DAMN tour this week, having played two raucous dates at London’s O2 Arena, as well as dates in Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow.

“Reading and Leeds prides itself on being a music-first festival and this year’s line-up already proves that,” said Festival Republic boss Melvin Benn in a statement today. “Kings of Leon and Fall Out Boy are bands that have grown with the festival and its fans and we couldn’t be more pleased to invite them back to headline.

“Adding Panic! at the Disco and Kendrick Lamar, probably the most sought-after act in the world right now, we think Reading and Leeds Festivals 2018 are off to an amazing start – with even more to come, so watch this space.”

Reading and Leeds Festivals will take place from August 24-26, at Bramham Park in Leeds, and Little John’s Farm in Reading. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased here.
