The line-up will be selected by Bring Me The Horizon themselves, and according to NME, the festival will feature a “retrospective set from the band alongside a host of club nights, pool party takeovers and boat parties.” Presently, other than Bring Me The Horizon, no other acts have been announced thus far.

Frontman Oli Sykes said of the announcement; “We’re buzzing to be hosting a Bring Me The Horizon themed festival in Malta next year, coming up with as much madness as you’d expect from a fully metal, rock festival…“As well as our headline set we’re also going to be doing a special throwback set with some songs we haven’t played for years, and have an insane line up of friends and guests coming out to perform too. It’s basically going to be the greatest weekend ever.” You can read more about the event at this link.

In other news, Bring Me The Horizon have had quite an eventful year thus far, having released a new single and two collaborative songs following their 2020 E.P. POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR, which was well-received by both fans and critics. One of these collaborative efforts sees the group joining forces with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, on a song entitled “Let’s Get The Party Started” a high-energy track that features screamed vocals from singer Oli Sykes and swaggering, blues-tinged riffs that have become a hallmark of Morello’s playing.

In late September, Bring Me The Horizon released the single “DiE4u”, a pop-rock tinged hit that acts as a harbinger of the sound of their next E.P, which will be a continuation of the group’s POST HUMAN project. According to Topshelf Music, the band presently have three more E.Ps planned for the series. Thus far, the POST HUMAN project has seen the band collaborate with several exciting artists, such as Japanese metal band BABYMETAL, Nova Twins, YUNGBLUD and singer Amy Lee of Evanescence fame.

Bring Me The Horizon have recently performed an intimate show at legendary Los Angeles venue Whisky A Go Go, where fellow UK artist YUNGBLUD made an appearance to perform “Obey”, a collaborative single that he and the band released last year. The band also made an appearance at Knotfest, which also took place in Los Angeles.

Bring Me The Horizon have reached the top of the UK album charts this week with their album ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR,’ which was released 30th of October 2020. While the album originally reached a modest 5th place back in October when it was introduced to streaming platforms, the release of the album in physical form gave the band the boost they needed to top the chart after a close race with fellow Brits and House Duo Bicep. The Official Charts report that ‘92% of the record’s chart sales this week were physical purchases,’ showing both the loyalty of their fans and the continuing relevance of physical mediums despite the rise of streaming.

Frontman Oli Sykes thanked fans for their support in an Instagram post and owners of their record label RCA, Sony Music UK showed equal enthusiasm and congratulated the band in the comments section. ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR,’ is the second Bring Me The Horizon album to reach number 1, with 2019s ‘AMO,’ also reaching the top spot. Since they first entered the charts with an album release in 2006, Bring Me The Horizon have steadily been improving their chart release with every single album, climbing from number 13 up to number 1 in the space of the last decade.

The band’s success with this album, while certainly largely down to their long standing and loyal fan base, may also be to do with the band’s wise choice of collaborators for many of the tracks. Yungblud is featured on ‘Obey,’ and after his album ‘weird!’ shot to number 1 when it was released in December the world has been watching what he does with great enthusiasm. The album also features a collaboration with Japanese J-Pop and Metal fusion band ‘BABYMETAL,’ who have a large cult following and have appeared in the UK events like the Reading and Leeds festival.

Collaborations certainly seems to be the way forward in todays music industry, with artists as big as Dua Lipa frequently working with a variety of musicians, producers and songwriters to sharpen her sound and broaden her appeal. This is definitely an idea that Bring Me The Horizon have picked up on and they have chosen very well who to work with on this album. Yungblud helps the band appeal to a younger audience and to the slightly less aggressive Indie Rock scene whose fans may be initially put off by the more aggressive Metal sound, but be tempted to try it out by the appearance of their beloved Yungblud.

With the UK’s coronavirus crisis continuing to unravel with and end still not in sight, live music in Britain is still unfortunately out of the question. However some music fans are still hopeful that 2021 will see a return of bands to stages, with big acts like Dua Lipa and Indie Rockers Declan McKenna and Yungblud all promising tours this year. Bring Me The Horizon have hinted at some in-store performances in Kingston but have not set a firm date yet.

Provided government restrictions on live events are lifted or at least eased up by September, the three intimate shows will see Bring Me The Horizon perform Post Human: Survival Horror in full for the very first time in the UK. The EP came out on all digital platforms at the end of October 2020 to huge success and overwhelmingly positive response, going as far as #5 at the Official Album Charts. Last Friday 22 January the Sheffield quintet finally released the EP on CD, LP and tape and are going straight for the top spot, currently battling with Bicep’s ‘Isles‘ for UK’s #1 album this week. In an exclusive interview for NME, frontman Olly Sykes talked about their surprising performance:

“When we released the record last year it was just digitally, and one of the reasons for me was to avoid this whole debacle! We didn’t really give a fuck about where it charts, but as soon as it becomes a possibility then everyone wants it – management, the record label – and you can’t help but want it a little bit yourself for the sheer ego of it. According to this game that you have to play, it doesn’t matter if your last record sold more but got to Number Two, it’s better to sell less records and get to Number One.”

Bring Me The Horizon @bmthofficial on the race for Number One and “emotional” new music@olobersyko tells NME about the “surprise” of ‘Survival Horror’ potentially topping the charts – and the three new records they’re already working onhttps://t.co/8Wceg7uXJd — NME (@NME) January 27, 2021

Post Human: Survival Horror is the first installment of Bring Me Horizon’s ongoing project that will eventually form a full-lenght studio record. According to the NME interview above, the band is already simultaneously working on parts two, three and four, with new music expected to drop in the near future. With regards to actual release date for the next EP, Sykes states it will be after the Autumn touring cycle.

If all plans go ahead as scheduled, Bring Me The Horizon are embarking on a big tour around Russia in May followed by Europe in June. With no confirmed UK festival appearances for Summer 2021, their next UK shows will kick off in Kingston and Liverpool in mid-September. More information and tickets are available on the band’s website.

After months of smash hit singles, viral videos and three consecutive Top 40 chart entries, Bring Me The Horizon have finally released their highly anticipated new EP Post Human: Survival Horror via Sony Music and RCA today. The release immediately grabs the attention with rich compositions, pristine production, powerful collaborations and a strong dose of fresh contemporary alternative metal. The band manages to incorporate an abundance of new directions and futuristic ideas into their well established heavy past turning the release into an instant modern classic and one to be talked about in years to come.

The EP covers a total of 9 tracks, including the four critically acclaimed promo tracks ‘Ludens‘, ‘Parasite Eve‘, ‘Obey‘ and ‘Teardrops‘, alongside four previously unheard gems and the interlude ‘Itch For The Cure (When Will We Be Free?)‘. The already familiar singles have been on repeat for the whole year but sound even stronger in the full context of the EP with new-found purpose and meaning. Simultaneously, the new songs add depth and variety and make up for a killer release worthy of the Bring Me The Horizon brand and really standing out in the gloom of 2020.

The EP kicks off with the powerful intro ‘Dear Diary,‘ that throws you right into the whirpool of trashy riffs and heavy hardcore beats. Maintaining its energy and charge, Bring Me The Horizon turn up the heat with the anticipated collaborations for Post Human, bringing an impressive selection of international musical heavyweights on board for a truly diverse project. The team-up with Yungblud for ‘Obey‘ has already been getting praise for the brilliant vocal chemistry between the rebelious singer and Oli Sykes, and raised the expectations high upon its surprising release in September.

Fresh of winning the Best British Breakthrough Band at the 2020 Heavy Metal Awards, rising UK stars Nova Twins deliver their relentless energy and grime sensibility in ‘1×1‘ while Amy Lee from Evanescence teams up with Sykes for the haunting conclusion ‘One Day the Only Butterflies Left Will Be in Your Chest as You March Towards Your Death‘. The absolute highlight of the EP, however, is Japanese titans Babymetal joining in for the monumental track ‘Kingslayer‘ that seemlessly blends the best of both bands and is sure to become a fan favourite in the upcoming months.

Exactly 14 years ago, the band released their debut album Count Your Blessings which cannot sound more different. Love them or hate them, Bring Me The Horizon have managed to remain at the forefront of the global heavy scene ever since by always being unique and relevant, leading the trends and setting the standard for their contemporaries, and Post Human: Survival Horror gives yet another example of their versatility and adaptability.

Very few metal bands in recent decades have represented the UK with such attittude and style in a scene predominantly led by American acts, and have achieved the international recognition Bring Me The Horizon are enjoying at this moment. Moreover, by exploring new horizons and changing their style, the Sheffield five-piece achieved commercial success in a genre that normally thrives in the shadowy low-key underground and prefers to be left away from the headlines – a collosal feat considering current trends, uncertainties and industry standards.

Bring Me The Horizon will support their recent release with a UK Tour starting in September 2021.
