‘The One Last Haim‘ Summer 2022 tour kicks off in Dublin on the 28th of June and ends in London on the 21st of July. Both Manchester’s show’s in July are now sold out.

The band planned to tour their third studio album: ‘Women in Music Pt. III.’, during September of this year, but CDC travel stipulations will mean that they will inevitably have to wait till next year.

Despite these regulations, the band stated in an interview with NME that they would be ramping it up for their fans attending the summer shows to compensate for this year’s cancellation.

Special guest Georgia will also be performing at their UK and Dublin Tour.

In a recent interview with MyLondon news, Steps said, “This album really nods to our back catalogue and fans have heard that with the singles, which to us are up there with that ‘classic Steps sound’ like ‘After the Love Has Gone’ and ‘Love’s Got a Hold on My Heart’. But then we’ve got new songs on the album which are more mature-sounding, like ‘Hold My Heart’ and ‘Under My Skin’ – which is favourite of H and Claire’s – so it’s a very mixed bag for Steps fans”.

The album release has come at the same time as Miley Cyrus releases her 7th album ‘Plastic Hearts,’ therefore there will likely be another pop battle for the Number 1 chart spot next week, which occurred earlier this month between Kylie and girl group Little Mix. Steps said to MyLondon news that,  “It doesn’t feel like we’re in competition because of the way the charts are now, not everyone is chasing for a number one at the end of the week. These days we’re more doing it for the fans and it doesn’t feel like we have to ‘take over the world’, because the people that want us are able to hear us and we can release great new stuff for them and people that don’t know us are getting to know us via all these amazing platforms”.

The group have confirmed that they have added extra dates for their ‘What The Future Holds‘ tour in Birmingham, Manchester and London. Fans can expect to see the group perform songs from their latest album as well as classic Steps tracks such as ‘One For Sorrow,’ ‘Last Thing On My Mind,’ ‘Tragedy,’ and ‘5,6,7,8.’ The band told BirminghamLive, “We know what the stage is going to look like and that’s really exciting because it’s something we’ve never done before. But in terms of the setlist we think we’re going to have our work cut out because we’ve got so much material to choose from now and it’s impossible to keep everybody happy isn’t it? So we’ll try – but there might be quite a few melodies in there”. Tickets will go on sale from 27th November and can be brought here.

On Tuesday night, Simon Jones who manages LittleMix’s PR, issued a statement on twitter on behalf of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The tweet read, “Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons. We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time.”

At present it is unknown as to what Jesy’s illness is. Jesy has been an original band member since they were formed on the ‘X-Factor’ in 2011. They signed under Simon Cowell’s label ‘Syco Music’ and Little Mix soon became the most popular girl band in the UK and globally. They are recognised for their strong live performances, harmonic vocals and energetic dance routines, as well as their empowerment to young women.

As well as hosting the European MTV Music Awards, the group were nominated for Best Group, Best Pop and Best Virtual Live. They shared on their instagram account their excitement saying, “IT’S HAPPENING! We are SO excited to announce that we’re going to be hosting the @mtvema’s on November 8th. This is gonna be so much fun!”

They sent out another tweet before the final night of their ‘Little Mix The Search’ show saying, “Can you believe tonight’s the FINAL of @LMTheSearch!! We’re unbelievably proud of all 6 bands and we can’t wait to see the final 4 perform! We’re so sad Jesy won’t be able to join us tonight, but we have such an amazing show in store for you all x.”

Jesy previously featured in the TV documentary ‘Odd One Out,’ where she spoke about her struggles with her body image and online bullying. The Daily Mail reported that she, “She talked in depth for the first time about how trolls, who mocked her over her looks and weight, triggered her into attempting to take her own life in 2013.”

After the show was aired, some fans were sympathetic towards Jessy for the amount of online bullying she had encountered and others commented on how she had inspired them and how brave she was, getting through the online abuse and suggested the episode should be showed in schools to help educate others.

Jesy has been quiet on her social media and not posted anything since October 31st, which is unusual for her. She has told The Guardian, “that therapy, a strong community and withdrawing from Twitter allowed her to distance herself from her public image and slowly start “to feel normal again”. 

Little Mix have just released their 6th album, ‘Confetti’ which reached Number 2 in the UK Album charts behind Kylie Minogue’s ‘Disco.’ Their tour next year, has been rearranged for April due to the current pandemic, however it is uncertain as to whether Jesy will be joining them.

The band posted the single’s artwork to Instagram just after midnight last night along with a lengthy caption explaining the meaning behind the track. They say that ‘it’s about realising you can’t make everyone happy. and realising it’s ok to be defeated by something.’ The caption then continues by saying how they have previously experienced negative comments from press, especially lead singer David Bayley, ‘there was a review in a big publication we got early on that said i was ‘too effeminate’ because of the way I sang and that that was weak and gross. its 2020. there’s no space for that sh*t anymore.’

HEAT WAVES IS OUT NOW. it’s about realising you can’t make everyone happy. and realising it’s ok to be defeated by something. we are often expected to ‘be strong’ and to swallow our sadness. failing to do that is seen as weakness. so we try to cover up our feelings and hide inside of TV shows or video games or drink or drugs. but being vulnerable should be a positive thing. there was a review in a big publication we got early on that said i was ‘too effeminate’ because of the way I sang and that that was weak and gross. its 2020. there’s no space for that sh*t anymore. the music video is out too. it’s meant to reference the sentiments in the song…about being defeated and unable to save something…but tweaked the context a little. The single proves to be a form of backlash against those trying to bring others down and is a personal piece to the band themselves. The track is supposed to appear on their forthcoming album, Dreamland, which was set to be released on July 7. Although, this was recently pushed back by a month due to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The band feel very passionate about some of the events that have taken place and were heartbroken about the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. They believe that releasing new music just didn’t feel right amongst everything that has happened. The band posted a long message to their fans via Instagram explaining this further.

However, along with their latest single Heat Waves, they have also released the music video for the track. Directed by Colin Read, the video follows David Bayley walking through the backstreets of London.

According to NME, Bayley said the music video is ‘a love letter to live music and the culture and togetherness surrounding it. It was filmed at the peak of the lockdown in my neighbourhood in East London by the lovely people who live around me, just using their phones.’ 

The music video seems to be a great success and will definitely be one to remember for the band. Watch it below:
