The idea sprung from a text sent by BBC 1 Radio Host, Greg James to Pitbull. In the text, James said the idea was to make the show ‘as momentous as possible.’ Pitbull replied soon after saying this was ‘history in the making.’

It’s a strange goal, but for fans of Pitbull who have been attending concerts dressed as the bald and suit-clad singer since around 2021, it makes perfect sense.

The trend was started by fans on social media, eager to celebrate with the singer. At his London show in 2025, The Independent spoke to content creator, Milli, who believes herself to be the one to begin the trend. She explained reasoning behind dressing as the 44-year-old singer to them, ‘for Halloween, lots of girls – myself included – we dress up but still want to look quite fit. This concert, you won’t have a care in the world. You just want to have a great time with your mates.’

Pitbull proudly hails from Miami, Florida, calling himself ‘Mr. 305’ in reference to the area code of the city. Born to Cuban parents, he learned English from watching Sesame Street. A high school teacher was the first to notice his talent during a freestyle rap battle. This teacher, Hope Martinez, got him an invitation to a DMX video shoot, after which his career was set into motion. He credits the invitation as the root of his success today.

Over his 28 year career, Pitbull has sold over 25 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide. Billboard named him 45^th Top Artist of the 2010s, the decade which saw him explode into clubs and parties across the world. Music videos for hits ‘Timber (ft. Ke$ha)’ and ‘Give Me Everything (ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer)’ have both amassed over 1 billion views on YouTube. And now, he is seeking to add a Guinness World Record Holder to his list of achievements.

None of this would be possible, though, without the power of his fanbase. He told the BBC, ‘it’s the ultimate trophy to be able to go on stage and see all the hard work that you put into the music.’ Adding, ‘everybody [dressing up] at the shows is priceless.’

Guinness World Record Adjudicator,Will Munford, said of the upcoming gathering of bald cap-wearing fans, ‘what better way to be part of something amazing than coming together with other fans to celebrate your favorite artist.’

The show takes place at London’s BST Hyde Park on July 10. On the day, he will be joined by Ke$ha, with more acts to be announced. Other headliners for the BST Hyde Park series include Lewis Capaldi, Maroon 5 and Mumford and Sons.

To be a part of Guinness World Record History, tickets to Pitbull’s show can be purchased at the BST Hyde Park site. And good deals on bald caps (or a whole Mr. 305 costume) can be found in many places online.

He will headline the Roundhay Festival, the new festival that launches next summer in Leeds on 3 July and will be joined by Kesha and other names.

Both BST Hyde Park and Roundhay will also be headlined by Lewis Capaldi next year as part of some of his biggest headline shows.

Garth Brooks has also been announced as a BST Hyde Park headliner, with others still to be confirmed.

Pitbull’s shows will provide fans with another chance to wear the bald caps after his recent shows went viral when many fans showed up wearing skintight bald caps, aviators, and leather jackets.

At a show in London’s O2 Arena in February earlier this year, Pitubull said, “Now I wanna say a special thank you to everybody who came out with bald caps here tonight. It’s amazing to see, and it’s amazing to feel.”

“And I hope when you put on those bald caps you feel just like I do: Having a good motherfucking time every day of my life.”

On his return to the UK in June, the trend continued, with fans adding fake facial hair and a suit. This time he said, “[It’s] an honour.”

“It’s the ultimate trophy to be able to go on stage and see all the hard work that you put into the music. I’ve been in the game for 25 years and to see every demographic, everybody [dressing up] at the shows is priceless.”

Pitbull will be joined by Kesha at both the headlined festivals next year, which comes after he re-credited her on their collaborative track ‘Timber’, after receiving backlash when her name was removed from the 2013 song last year.

2026 will be the first year the Roundhay festival runs, with organisers hoping that it will become a central part of the north of England’s cultural calendar, hosting some of the world’s biggest names.

Roundhay Park already has big history with live music, having hosted the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and Ed Sheeran.

For the O2 Arena show on the European leg of his ‘Party After Dark Tour’, on Friday (Feb 21), thousands of concertgoers descended on the venue, clad in their own Pitbull outfits. This trend has been going on for years, with fans, many of whom are female, dressing up as the famous rapper.

Seeing the mass of fans suited up in their costumes, Pitbull said on stage: “Now I wanna say a special thank you to everybody who came out with bald caps here tonight. It’s amazing to see, and it’s amazing to feel.”

The Cuban-American rapper has cultivated a large fanbase, making dance floor hits such as ‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)‘, and popular club music collabs like ‘Give Me Everything’ with Ne-Yo and ‘Timber’ featuring Kesha. Branding himself as “Mr Worldwide”, he’s done big numbers globally, selling over 25 million albums and 100 million singles internationally.

Pitbull first embarked on his ‘Party After Dark Tour’ in August 2024, kicking things off in North America. The European leg, featuring Lil Jon as a supporting act, commenced on Feb 19 in Dublin, and was set to conclude today, Feb 25, in Cologne, Germany.

Now, due to ‘phenomenal demand’, Pitbull has added an extra date at The O2 arena for the tour, as well as in Manchester and Dublin. He will be returning to the UK on Monday June 9, with Shaggy as a special guest. In a press release, the extra shows promise ‘stunning visuals, explosive pyrotechnics, and Pitbull’s signature performance’.

There will be several pre-sales for the June concerts – an artist presale on Ticketmaster will open tomorrow on Wednesday Feb 26 at 9am, followed by a LiveNation presale at 8:45am on Thursday Feb 27.

Also on Ticketmaster, there will be a Spotify presale at 11am on Thursday Feb 27, and the general onsale will open up at 9am on Friday Feb 28 on Ticketmaster, LiveNation and AXS.
