Electronic music pioneer Brian Eno, expressed an imperative message during his keynote interview at the International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza 2022, with BBC Radio 1 figure and IMS partner Pete Tong. Eno articulately emphasised the importance of tackling the Earth’s climate crisis now, and outlined how musicians, the music industry and fans can play their part in generating a greener world. The interview took place on the last day of the summit via video call, which was a perfect example of how to act mindfully of Mother’s Earth, by cutting unnecessary carbon footprint that is triggered by air travel.

The 73-year-old artist who is also known for his 1975 masterpiece named Another Green World, is the founding trustee of the campaigning organisation EarthPercent, whose goal is to inspire artists and companies within the music industry to play their part in saving the planet, and donate small sums of earnings, to organisations who are addressing and aiding the climate crisis emergency. Last summer Eno produced his first ever large-scale exhibition in Japan, titled ‘Brian Eno Ambient Kyoto’. All his earnings from this exhibition are to go towards support of EarthPercent’s aim to raise $100 million by 2030.

Brian has appeared as a guest on the 1st episode of Series 2 of the ‘Sounds Like a Plan Podcast’ to talk about EarthPercent & how he sees a ‘Climate Opportunity’.https://t.co/mw9wpZVmTN@GregCochrane @Faymilton

And we’ll redirect that to the best organisations that are really making a difference.’” Adding, “A lot of money goes through the music business – culture is a huge business. What if we could say to people in the music business: ‘I’m sure you want to give something to charities that deal with the environment, because most people do. And I’m sure you’re confused, because most people are. So what are the ones that will make a difference for a long time?’”

The Radio 1 Legendary DJ has confirmed a number of UK Summer performances to take place with his 65 piece orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley in 2021. The show will be a combination of new songs along with classic dance tunes from the past decades, that will have the audience dancing the night away.

The tour will begin on 25th June where Pete will take his Ibiza dance anthem show to Franklin Gardens in Northampton. He will then perform at Newcastle Racecourse on June 26th, Newmarket Racecourse on August 13th and finishing up in Colwyn Bay the next day. Pete played to a sell out crowed for a proms night at the Royal Albert Hall for a Proms night 3 years ago, which lead to him deciding to take his show on the road.
