The certificate was submitted by his eldest daughter Aimee Osbourne in London with reports later emerging of an air ambulance flying to his home in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, on the day of his death (July 22).

Ozzy was buried in the grounds of his UK mansion during a private ceremony attended by family, friends and other music legends such as Elton John, members of Metallica, his Black Sabbath band members and more. He was escorted in a cortege through his home city of Birmingham prior to the ceremony, giving his fans the chance to say one last goodbye. His family got the chance to stop by a fan memorial at the Black Sabbath Bridge, appearing to be wearing Ozzy’s famous ring and glasses.

The Brummy singer had played his final live show in his hometown just a couple of weeks before his death, raising money to help cure Parkinson’s disease but also for Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice. It was later confirmed to be one of the highest-grossing charity concerts of all time.

His second daughter, Kelly Osbourne, took to Instagram on August 4 to talk about the passing of her father and how overwhelmed with love she had felt seeing the support from the fans during this difficult time: “I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough. But from the bottom of my heart, thank you. The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain. Grief is a strange thing. It sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be ok for a while, but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.”

Rock singer Alice Cooper and his band dedicated their show that night to Ozzy, explaining on Instagram that “when the giants fall, it’s really hard to accept. Even though everybody saw it coming with Ozzy, it just took our breath away when it happened”, understanding that “the whole world is mourning Ozzy tonight”. 

English singer-songwriter, Elton John, told the world that Osbourne was “a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods – a true legend”. The popular metal band, Metallica, remembers how much Ozzy helped and inspired their band by expressing how much of a “hero, icon, pioneer, inspiration, mentor, and, most of all, friend are a few that come to mind”. “He taught us how to play in the big leagues while at the same time being warm, welcoming, engaging, and all around brilliant.”

Yungblud had established a significant connection and mentorship with Osbourne. The young rockstar who is paving the way for a new generation of rock and roll performed an incredible cover of Black Sabbath’s song ‘Changes’ a few weeks ago at Ozzy Osbourne’s final show, Back To The Beginning. This cover is going towards charity to help cure Parkinson’s disease, which Osbourne had been suffering from, and the final concert raised over 150 million pounds. Yungblud gave Ozzy a matching gold cross chain after the Back To The Beginning concert. 

Yungblud has recently expressed on Instagram that he was the greatest of all time and that he “will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me, and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us, the music was enough. You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all.”   

Other artists also payed tribute to Ozzy’s passing, including Coldplay covering the song ‘Changes’ and Lady Gaga playing ‘Crazy Train’ at the end of her concert. Public figures and actors including Adam Sandler, Jason Momoa, and Danny Trejo have all reflected on memories and the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.

Ozzy Osbourne was an incredible inspiration to many people and artists around the world who helped shape the sound and stage presence of heavy metal and rock music. He had incredible success with Black Sabbath and in his solo career. Osbourne’s persona had a beautiful cultural impact worldwide. His family has shared that he was with them, surrounded by love in his final moments.

Van Toffler, CEO of digital media production and distribution company Gunpowder & Sky, who spent thirty years at MTV will have a key role in the ceremony set to take place on September 7. He told Variety: “Toffler told Variety: “I have no doubt we will spend the next month figuring out the proper tribute and send off to Ozzy on the Video Music Awards, because he was such a large figure in music history, and the family had such an impact on MTV history, and we need to acknowledge that.”

“We were deep in the throes of reality television in the early 2000s but I don’t think we’d ever had someone over 50 years old featured on any show on MTV in its history. We were looking to launch Cribs, and we shot a bit with the Osbournes, and we all kind of looked at each other and just felt there is some wonderful, serendipitous chaos and insanity in this house that people would eat up. What a loving, dysfunctional, chaotic, musical family they were. And it just hit us to keep shooting, which went on for years.”

Indeed, Toffler is also well-known to have helped launched early 2000s iconic MTV reality show The Osbournes which followed the crazy life of Ozzy, Sharon and their children Kelly, Aimee and Jack.

The death was confirmed by the singer’s family in a statement which read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.” Since then, multiple other artists such as Yungblud, Ozzy’s fellow band members of Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, lead singer of Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan, Sir Elton John, AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin and more have released statements about Ozzy, him as a person and the impact he has had on various different socials.

The members of Black Sabbath  said they felt like they “lost their brother” whilst Yungblud, an artist highly praised and loved by Ozzy himself, released some very heart words saying: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room.  But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”

The icon’s death came shortly after his farewell gig with Black Sabbath in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5.

The show’s music director, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, confirmed the staggering total raised through ticket sales and global pay-per-view livestreams. Posting to Instagram, Morello wrote: “more than $190 million will be donated to houses and hospitals for children. We raised a ton of money for a great cause and so many great musicians and bands and fans all over the world paid tribute to the all time greats”.

A report at the BBC interviewed the charities receiving the proceeds from the farewell concert. One of the concert’s key beneficiaries is Cure Parkinson’s, a cause deeply personal to Osbourne, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2020. The charity’s director of marketing and fundraising said the team was “over the moon” with the donation. He added that Cure Parkinsons “are increasingly wanting to make sure people with Parkinson’s all over the country… have some access to trials, and that includes Birmingham and the West Midlands, so any donations or funds raised from this will help us do that”.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity – a longstanding cause supported by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne – will also benefit. Sheeba Ali, a fundraising manager at the hospital, said the donation will go towards improving the hospital environment for patients and families: “That can be anything in terms of improving the environment, there’s a lot of development happening at the children’s hospital at the moment… to make it a less scary space for kids”.

The final beneficiary, Acorns Children’s Hospice, provides specialist care to around 900 children and families across Birmingham. CEO Trevor Johnson said the donation will be transformative and will “enable us to be there for more children and families” after the demand for the charity’s services had doubled in the past two years. The hospice attempts to create a home-like environment for the children with activities and daytrips.

The concert itself was a monumental send-off. Ozzy Osbourne took the stage for a final solo appearance, performing atop a giant winged throne, while Black Sabbath delivered a powerful stream-lined set focused on tracks from their first two albums such as ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Iron Man’. The night ended with a performance of ‘Paranoid’, which Osbourne declared to be “the last song ever.” The evening also featured tribute sets from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Korn, Slayer, Alice in Chains, and many more. The track from West’s latest project, ‘Carnival’ seems to feature a brief guitar riff from the Black Sabbath track: ‘Iron Man’. Although the original version of ‘Carnival’ was intended to use Black Sabbath’s iconic ‘Iron Man’ riff, the live show switched this sample to one from West’s own discography. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s ‘Hell of a Life’ was used in place of ‘Iron Man’. However, ‘Hell of a Life’ is itself an interpolation of Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’. Speaking on social media Osbourne said: “Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of ‘Iron Man’ from the US festival without vocals and was refused because he is an antisemite”.

Kanye West, as of late, has continually entrenched himself in controversy surrounding his frequent antisemitic outbursts. Speaking last year with far-right conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones, West said: “I see good things about Hitler.” Elaborating further, West doubled down by saying: “Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler”. Kanye West has spent the last year surrounding himself with far-right personalities like the aforementioned Jones, who has recently lost a court case after he popularised a conspiracy theory that suggested that a 2012 shooting that took place in Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary school was a hoax.

Other associates of West include Nick Fuentes, a far-right ethno-nationalist who is recognised by the Anti-Defamation League as a holocaust denier. As reported by Politico, both West and Fuentes attended a dinner hosted by former Republican president Donald Trump in late 2022. West has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump since 2016. Although not Jewish himself, Ozzy’s wife Sharron Osbourne has gone on record with The Jewish Chronicle to say: “My family, my father’s family, my aunt, my cousins, are all Jewish.” In this light, Ozzy Osbourne’s statement that Kanye West’s antisemitic behaviour “has caused untold heartache to many” appears to have affected him on a personal level.

Although Kanye West posted an apology in Hebrew to his twitter page in late 2023 that read: “I sincerely apologise to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions.”, West continues to portray himself as an antisemite. Last night’s listening party livestream was cut short after the rapper said: “I’m still crazy, bipolar, antisemite, and I’m still the king”.

Despite his stance against West, Osbourne is not without his own political controversies. In a 1982 interview with Night Flight, a now-defunct American variety show, Osbourne stated that he got his ideas for his live performances from “Adolf Hitler”. The singer went on to say that: “Hitler had a charisma in a bad way and I kind of admired him. He was a freak; he was a lunatic, but he had something about him”.

Whether or not Osbourne’s past comments should be taken seriously, it is clear that he is attempting to distance himself from the antisemitism espoused by Kanye West, signing his tweet off by saying: “I want no association with this man [Kanye West].”

During an episode of The Osbournes podcast, Ozzy openly shared the details of his pending surgery, following the significant distress he has faced in recent years, due to his accident. Ozzy said, “It is going to be the final surgery because I can’t do it any more.” 

However, in a recent interview with Metal Hammer, the musician provided a positive update on his health following his “final surgery” in September. Ozzy said “I have now undergone all the necessary surgeries, for which I am grateful,” he affirmed. “I am feeling alright – the recovery process has been prolonged. I had anticipated being back on my feet months ago, but adjusting to this lifestyle of constantly dealing with health issues has been challenging. While I am still unable to walk properly, I am no longer experiencing any pain, and the surgery on my spine was a success.”

Speaking further with Metal Hammer Ozzy revealed, “I’ve done two albums fairly recently, but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road. I’m just starting to work on it now, and we’ll be recording in the early part of next year.” he added. “I want to take my time with this one!”

Ozzy, who collaborated with Andrew Watt on both the critically acclaimed album Ordinary Man in 2020 and the previous year’s Patient Number 9 Ozzy hopes to actively seek to engage Watt’s once again to embark on the creation of fresh musical melody, at his own personal studio within his residence in the United Kingdom.

In January 2020, Osbourne publicly disclosed his Parkinson’s diagnosis, which he had previously kept concealed for more than 15 years. He claimed his motivation for sharing this deeply personal information was because “I feel better now I’ve owned up to them.”

In a recent Osbourne family podcast he told Jack, “I never think about it, I never go, I don’t go, oh I’ve got Parkinson’s because it’s so mild, it’s ridiculous. If I don’t take the medication, I tremor a little bit in the morning. As long as I take the medication I’m fine.

At present, there are no scheduled tour dates for the year 2024.

It will see discussions of the highs, lows, and the paranormal. In a recent interview with Rollingstone, Kelly Osbourne said “It’s not like a TV show, we can say do whatever we want.”

The idea to start up the podcast for a new season, came after Ozzy Osbourne announced on Twitter his retirement back in February 2023, due to numerous health conditions.

It plans to air 20 episodes, of the family getting together at Sharon and Ozzy’s home.  Jack Osbourne will be leading Ozzy, Sharon, and Kelly in an untamed, capricious adventure through love, laughter, and what being an Osbourne is all about.

In a teaser clip, the family are discussing plastic surgery. Jack comments on his mum Sharon “Every 5000 miles mom goes in for a tune-up.” Both Sharon and Kelly agree, with Kelly adding “No look, I do not want one of those necks in which you can flick, that will never happen”; However, Ozzy, didn’t agree! 

The podcast’s first season aired back in March 2018 but came to an end, as Ozzy began touring, leaving Sharon, Jack and Kelly to riff about the then latest hot topics in the last episode.

Alongside the announcement of the returning podcast, Sharon and Kelly spoke to Daily Mail about Ozzy’s health and let fans know that he is doing well. Kelly tells the Daily Mail in an online interview “He’s got Parkinson’s and terrible spine surgery but he’s still getting up everyday.”

In addition to the family podcast episodes, each member will have an individual podcast. Despite Ozzy Osbourne’s health-related difficulties, he will kick off the first individual podcast, with his longtime friend Billy Morrison. They touch on topics from food to Black Sabbath days and even on aliens, a popular subject choice for Ozzy.

Kelly will be hosting, The Gay, The Bitch and The Wardrobe. Jack is set to present his podcast on all things paranormal and Sharon will be discussing all the hot gossip and trends in her pop culture podcast.

Family podcasts will indulge their audiences with guest stars including  Melissa Rivers (Joan River’s Daughter), Adam Corolla, and Margaret Cho.
