The band first came together in 1981 in celebration of their late frontman Marley shortly after his death, and is one of several spinoffs of Bob Marley and The Wailers. Now led by Aston Barret Jr. and lead vocalist Mitchell Brunings, the group are expected to play 11 dates throughout November this year, kicking things off in Newcastle on November 13.

From a blurb posted on their website, Marley and Wailers fans attending live shows can expect “the magic of their timeless classics and incredible cuts from Bob Marley’s vast repertoire in a set that is truly unforgettable. Under the guidance of Aston Barrett Jr, son of the legendary “Familyman”, The Wailers continue to preserve the legacy of their iconic sound.”

The announcement of the tour follows the release of the critically acclaimed biopic Bob Marley: One Love. Landing in cinemas on February 14, the film follows the trials and tribulations of Marley’s life, and stars Peaky Blinders‘ Kingsley Ben-Adir. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the film was made in close collaboration with Marley’s family, and not only honours his legacy, but observes and shines a light on other central figures in his life, such as his wife Rita and Island Records boss Chris Blackwell. Just over a week since it hit cinema screens, it has been confirmed that the film broke box office records on its first day alone, earning an eye-watering $52 million during the six-day holiday stretch.

Tickets for all shows are on sale on Friday February 23 at 10AM and are available for general purchase here. O2 Priority tickets will be available here on Wednesday 21 February at 10AM. Band member Duncan James addressed the news on Good Morning Britain (which he currently presents), saying, “I have some great news that won’t leave you feeling Blue because we are putting on a special tour.” He added, “there’s been a lot happening in the last two decades,” ensuring fans that many exciting stories from Blue’s expansive career would be coming their way.

The tour will celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary, with the setlist promising to contain the best material from their six studio albums. On Good Morning Britain, James said, “We could put your city in lockdown when we fly by on a low ride very soon.”

The group took to Twitter to share their excitement, also referencing their iconic noughties tracks, “All Rise” and “Fly By.”

Duncan James also shared a video, encouraging fans to purchase their tickets with their titular single from their No.1 album, “One Love” playing in the background.

The tour won’t solely rely on nostalgia though, as the group are set to perform tracks from their newest album too, released in 2022. Members Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe produced their latest effort, Heart and Soul in October 2022, with the album debuting at No.22 on the UK Top 100 Chart.

The singer in detailing the meaning of the single stated that it involves an individual who requires assurance from their relationship. The singer’s first musical outing was with her band One Dove in the early 1990s. The singer’s solo success began with the release of her album “Afterglow” in 1999 which received a positive reception.

The director for the video for the single is both a photographer and music video director. The director is also known for her work with PJ Harvey. Cameraman John Minton and Honor and Hopey were enlisted for the filming of the video.

The video was filmed within two hot days in July in Bristol and Wales. The director stated in page press release: “We did keep an eye on the weather and move dates to fit to make sure we got good weather as the video was entirely weather dependent but had no idea it would be quite so hot! “.

The singer said that the flowers in the video possess symbolic meaning and stated “The flower metaphors are rare flowers used to signify a rare, precious, all encompassing love. Blood Camellia suggests flesh, veins and a pulse, Fire Lilies imbue a sense of passion and Juliette Rose seems to hint at Shakespeare.” 

The single has been described as almost being eerily gentle and was written by the singer before the pandemic and reshaped during the lockdown.

In respect to the reshaping of the video during the lockdown, the singer stated “It ended up benefiting the record, even though it’s not a positive thing,” The singer has not yet released details of a tour for her album “Heart Shaped-Scars”. Watch Dot Allison’s video for “One Love” here.
