Nick Cave, the dark poet of rock and roll, is returning to Europe for an exclusive solo tour in summer 2025, bringing his singular intensity to a string of intimate venues across the continent. Armed with just a grand piano and the brooding basslines of Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, Cave will strip his music down to its rawest form—offering fans an unfiltered experience of his haunting storytelling and devastating ballads.

The tour begins June 10 in Zurich, Switzerland, and winds its way through Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Latvia, and Bulgaria, culminating in a final, spellbinding performance at the ancient Plovdiv Amphitheater on August 19. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM local time on Cave’s website.

Nick Cave’s concerts have long been considered as more than just gigs—they’re spiritual experiences. Whether he’s whispering at the piano or unleashing his full fury, his performances are a communion between artist and audience, where every lyric feels carved from the depths of his soul.

His musical style is a haunting blend of gothic rock, blues, and post-punk, but it’s his ability to turn every song into a narrative that truly sets him apart. His lyrics, often steeped in biblical allusion and steeped in a kind of fevered mysticism, are more akin to literary prose than standard songwriting. He sings of love, death, violence, and redemption with a delivery that moves from sultry crooning to full-throated, manic rants. His early work with The Bad Seeds pulsed with raw, chaotic energy, but as his career evolved, so did his sound. Cave’s later albums lean toward lush orchestration and minimalistic piano ballads, creating a sound as simply heartbreaking as it is sweepingly cinematic. His music is both timeless and otherworldly, a space where the shadows of old gospel, blues, and noir cinema collide in a whirlpool of dark intensity.

Cave has only undertaken two solo tours before, making his upcoming tour his highly anticipated third. The first, Conversations with Nick Cave (2018-2020), was an intimate, unscripted experience where Cave performed solo on piano and shared personal stories, including his grief after the loss of his son, Arthur. A film, recorded at the Ally Pally, was released in September 2020. In 2022, Cave returned for his second solo tour, joined by Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood on bass, with minimalist performances that mixed Bad Seeds classics and newer material from Ghosteen and Carnage.

This solo tour follows his North American run with St. Vincent and comes just months after the release of ‘Wild God,’ his latest album with The Bad Seeds. Known for his ability to reimagine his catalog with each new tour, Cave may surprise fans with stripped-down versions of both old classics and new masterpieces.

While no official setlist has been revealed, Cave’s solo shows often include deeply personal, piano-driven favourites. ‘Into My Arms’—written during his time in rehab—seems inevitable, as does ‘O Children,’ a track discovered by a new generation after its inclusion in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Songs like ‘Jubilee Street’ and ‘The Mercy Seat’ have taken on mythic status in his live repertoire, and with ‘Wild God’ still fresh, tracks like ‘Joy’ or ‘The Break’ could take on even greater emotional weight in this stripped-back format.

This tour’s venues are as much a part of the experience as the music itself. From the grand Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to the ruins of Pompei’s amphitheater, every space has been carefully chosen to amplify Cave’s dark magic. Expect candlelit intensity, whispered prayers, and a sense that for a few hours, the outside world has ceased to exist.

The musical deity Nick Cave and his legendary, expressive violinist compatriot Warren Ellis, have shared a moving new rendition of “Ghosteen Speaks”, teasing audiences for the upcoming film; “This Much I Know To Be True” which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in March 2022.

Directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Blonde), the forthcoming film follows on from the 2016 documentary “One More Time With Feeling” which came in the wake of tremendous tragedy at the loss of Cave’s 15-year-old son Arthur. The film included 35 minutes of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds performing works from the album Skeleton Tree at Air Studios.

Take in the haunting new performance of “Ghosteen speaks” down below:

“This Much I Know To Be True” will feature songs from the albums Ghosteen and Carnage. Performed by a prestigious ensemble of vocalists and strings that will breathe a renewed spirit into the stories. The documentaries’ purpose was described here, stating; “Interstitial pieces between the songs illuminate the cosmology and themes of the music. We hear about the process of Nick writing The Red Hand Files – the letters he chooses to answer and the replies themselves – giving us an insight into his current concerns in life and music, and into the method by which he is able to bring his own thoughts and feelings into order. We also visit the workshop where he is creating a series of sculptures depicting the life of the Devil – a portrait of the lives of all of us as we move from innocence to experience, attune to the world and its attendant loss, and eventually confront our own mortality.”

“THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE reaches into the deep friendship and personal relationship between Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, something glimpsed in the 2014 Cave pseudo-documentary, 20,000 Days on Earth. The film will prove to be another significant moment in the journeys of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, capturing the mood and spirit of the pair as they move through a new, optimistic phase.”

This latest film will be released in cinemas on the 11th of May 2022. Tickets are available here. The trailer which dropped on the 23rd of March 2022 can be found below:

Nick Cave is currently blazing through a North American headline tour in support of the album Carnage, marking the first-ever US Tour shared by Cave and Ellis as a duo.

Nick Cave has shared the latest trailer for the cinematic release of his ‘Idiot Prayer – Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace’ live performance. The global streaming event originally aired in July, as a placeholder for Cave’s European tour which has been rescheduled for 2021. Idiot Prayer features Cave alone in London’s iconic Alexandra Palace, filling the high ceilings and decorated walls of the West Hall with a single piano. For want of a better word, it is unforgettable.

Now Cave has released the trailer for the cinematic experience, which will be available in a limited capacity from November 5. Tickets information is available here (currently excluding the US). The trailer simply offers one minute of Cave at the piano, performing a fragment of ‘Jubilee Street’. “I’m transforming, I’m vibrating, well look at me now,” is the refrain.

Earlier this year he had posted a teaser of the global streaming event. In this, Cave walking through the ornate Alexandra Palace in preparation for his performance. The voiceover is a reading from the opening of ‘Spinning Song’, the first track on Cave’s latest album, Ghosteen. The teaser video is electric with anticipation and Cave walks with a touch of swagger; although this is something of a sombre event, Cave is perfectly self-assured. You can watch it here.

Just last night, Cave offered a heartrending performance of Marc Bolan’s ‘Cosmic Dancer’ for James Corden’s Late Late Show, also recorded in Alexandra Palace. You can watch the cover below – it’s unmissable. You can also find it recorded for the album Angelheaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T.Rex, released last week (September 4).

The compilation features covers by everyone from Father John Misty to Joan Jett to Marc Almond. Between this eclectic line-up, the spirit of Bolan is alive, well and appropriately glamorous. It comes in advance of T.Rex’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November. “We’re going to make sure Marc Bolan is at the heart of this,” Martin Barden promised (Barden spoke on behalf of Britain’s Culture Consultants LTD, who currently curate T.Rex’s catalogue).

As if these offerings weren’t enough, Cave has been constantly available for fans throughout lockdown. You can find him at The Red Hand Files, where he promises “You can ask me anything. There will be no moderator. This will be between you and me. Let’s see what happens. Much love, Nick.” You can also get hold of him at Bad Seeds Teevee, a twenty-four hour live stream of Bad Seeds content: promo material, interviews, live footage and rarities, played at random.

Cave shares his energy generously. Speaking about Bad Seeds Teevee, he said, “It’s 10.30 Wednesday evening, and if the world wasn’t in lockdown, I’d be onstage in Toulouse, France singing my heart out with The Bad Seeds. But I’m not. I’m doing the next best thing—sitting at home watching Bad Seed TeeVee. Pure non-stop joy!” All of this is helps fans to hold out until his rescheduled tour (dates below), which he promised will be “fucking mind-blowing“, by the way.
