The video, directed by Mike Mills, showcases a woman living her day to day life at home, the office, her car and more whilst showing how each day she becomes a new version of herself. A role the ‘Ladybird’ actress was more than happy to take on.

Ronan shared in a statement: “To simply be mentioned in the same breath as Talking Heads is hands down one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me, let alone making a video with the singular Mike Mills to accompany one of their most iconic songs – Psycho Killer. I have grown up listening to their music, so this truly is a childhood/teenage/lifelong dream come true. Mike, myself and the rest of the creative team had so much fun making this, and I can’t wait for Talking Heads fans to see it!”

Mike Mills, the director, spoke about how being a part of the project has been one of the greatest honour of his life as well as one of the best projects to be a part of. “This album literally changed what was possible in life for me, so to get to play with the subversive, uncategorisable beauty of Talking Heads, and to play with Saoirse who brought so much surprise, power, vulnerability and mischief to the party, it’s one of the best things I ever got to be a part of – still can’t believe it actually happened.”

Even the band shared their thoughts on the brand new video clip for the iconic song, saying: “This video makes the song better- We LOVE what this video is NOT – it’s not literal, creepy, bloody, physically violent or obvious.”

Talking Heads reunited for the first time in 20 years back in 2023 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their live concert ‘Stop Making Sense’ although they all insisted the band would not be getting back together.

The song carries a reflective, almost hypnotic energy, with minimal yet powerful production that allows the lyrics to take centre stage. Crookes’ warm, expressive vocals glide over gentle instrumentals, while Kano’s verse adds a raw, thoughtful layer to the track. The combination of her rich, vintage-inspired sound and his precise storytelling makes for a compelling contrast, capturing the feeling of two people trying to figure each other out. The chemistry between the two artists is effortless, making ‘Mathematics’ feel like a natural and well-crafted collaboration. 

The accompanying music video perfectly compliments the song’s themes, using stripped-back visuals to highlight the emotion in the lyrics. Set in moody, intimate location of a flat, the video follows a couple as they navigate the push-and-pull of their relationship. There’s a strong sense of nostalgia in the visuals, with warm lighting, slow-motion shots, and subtle details that make each frame feel like a snapshot of a fleeting moment ultimately ending with Crookes’ character in tears. The way the video captures distance and closeness between the two characters mirrors the song’s message, how love is never as simple as it seems. 

Joy Crookes has been making waves in the music industry since she first emerged in 2016 with her debut single ‘New Manhattan’. Her music blends elements of soul, R&B, and jazz, her breakthrough came in 2021 with her debut album ‘Skin’, which reached the UK Top 5 and earned her a BRIT Award nomination. Known for her deeply personal songwriting and distinctively rich voice, Crookes has built a reputation for music that feels both timeless and socially aware. 

Kano, on the other hand, has been a key figure in the UK rap and grime scene for over two decades. With classic albums like ‘Home Sweet Home’ and ‘Made in the Manor’, he’s known for his sharp lyricism and ability to tell powerful, introspective stories through his music. His addition to ‘Mathematics’ brings an extra layer of depth, making the song feel like a conversation between two people navigating love and communication in their own way. 

Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Crookes. ‘Mathematics’ follows her recent collaboration with Vince Staples on ‘Pass The Salt’, and with her second studio album in the works, fans can expect more music soon. As she continues to push creative boundaries, this latest release proves she’s an artist who’s only getting started.

‘Man in the Moon’ is featured on the ‘Full Moon Edition’ of Coldplay’s tenth studio album, ‘Moon Music’, which was released on October 4, 2024. This edition includes the original album plus ten additional tracks, collectively known as ‘Blue Moons,’ The song blends atmospheric instrumentals with emotive lyrics, inviting listeners into a contemplative space that explores themes of pure love and wonder, presented in the lyrics, “When you call out my name, that’s how I know we cry the same tears”. The music video builds on these themes, combining expansive, cinematic visuals with a sense of personal reflection. 

The release of ‘Man in the Moon’ is just the beginning of what promises to be a major year for Coldplay. On February 8, the band will perform at the opening ceremony of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games in Vancouver, joining a lineup that includes artists like Katy Perry. This marks one of their first major appearances of the year, setting the stage for their continued global presence. Following this, Coldplay will embark on their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, with performances scheduled in Hong Kong in April and a highly anticipated series of UK dates in August. The UK shows include a six-day run at London’s Wembley Stadium and two dates at Craven Park in Hull, making them the band’s only European performances in 2025.

The track, released today on Ample Play Records, a record label created by Cornershop’s own Tjinder Singh and Ben Ayres in 2009, and also on Naya Beat Records, the label Pinky Ann Rihal are currently signed to, is a blissful, disco-pop number, featuring exquisite Hindi vocals from Pinky Ann Rihal and Cornershop’s classic and trademark fusion of psychedelic, electronic pop with sitar-driven Indian music.

Alongside the delightful, psychedelic disco music is a music video featuring Pinky Ann Rihal, clad as Hindi hippie disco titans (naturally), being interviewed and performing on a live music programme, Eastern Eye, sometime in the 1980’s. A subtle ode, then, to better times, when disco-pop was at its peak of its powers?

Cornershop was formed in Leicester in 1991 by lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Tjinder Singh, alongside his brother Avtar on bass, Ben Ayres on guitar and keyboards and David Chambers on drums. The band released their first album, Hold On It Hurts, in 1994 and followed this with Woman’s Gotta Have It the following year, but it wasn’t until the release of their third album, When I Was Born for the 7th Time (1997), when the band achieved critical acclaim and found success. The album reached number 17 on the UK Albums Chart and brought with it the single “Brimful of Asha“, a song that, after a remix by Norman Cook, became hugely popular and soon reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart.

The album also contained a Punjabi version of “Norwegian Wood” and featured the prominent American poet Allen Ginsberg on the track “When the Light Appears Boy“. Cornershop have gone on record nine albums in total, releasing their latest, England Is a Garden, in 2020.

Pinky Ann Rihal first came to fruition in the early 1980s, created by Harry Rihal and Jati Sodhi, two Punjabi musicians who had immigrated to London a decade earlier. The band also consisted of vocalists Pinky Rihal, wife of Harry, along with Anne Barrett, who in turn was married to the band’s producer, John Hamilton. The group’s first and only album, Tere Liye, was released in 1985 but that hasn’t stopped the band having a continued influence on South Asian rock and pop music since.

“Sculptures of Anything Goes” is the latest single from the critically acclaimed album. A distinct break away from the band’s indie rock roots, the album continues where Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino left off with its piano-oriented experimental pieces.

The video hones in on the new lounge rock feel that Arctic Monkeys are channelling these days with its colourful palette and abstract shots of the band both in rehearsals and performing the song on tour.

Moving on from his Teddy-boy style days that became iconic during the peak of A.M. mania, Alex Turner has matured in aesthetic in a way that goes hand in hand with the band’s change in musical direction.

The video was directed by Ben Chapell with Matthew Cronin as editor.

The video has largely been met with positivity with Twitter user @RuzannaBlack declaring it to be a “masterpiece.”

The Car has without a doubt been Arctic Monkey’s most polarising album yet. The album received critical acclaim, with NME awarding it ‘Album of the Year,’ declaring it to be “the band’s most adventurous album, but also their most open-hearted, striking a perfect balance between subversion and tenderness.”

The first single released from the album, “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball” was nominated for a Best Alternative Music Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and was listed in The Guardian’s 20 Best Songs of 2022.

However, some fans were disappointed to find the band once again distancing themselves from the indie rock sounds of Favourite Worst Nightmare and Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

One fan wanted to ‘bin’ the album upon hearing it’s similarities to Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

Another fan called out the fact that the album was far less of a collaborative band effort than usual, with Alex Turner being credited as the sole writer for seven of the ten tracks.

“Sculptures of Anything Goes” was a team effort from Turner and Jamie Cook however and has largely been praised for its maturity as a track.

Now the band have collaborated with Eric Barone, creator of video games such as Stardew Valley, on a new video for one of the album’s new tracks, the dreamy “Many Mirrors”.  Barone, already a fan of Alvvays, heard “Many Mirrors” and was inspired to create a video based on old-school side-scrolling video games.

Discussing the process of making the video, Eric Barone said, “It’s not every day I get an email from a cool band like Alvvays. When I learned they were fans of Stardew Valley, it felt like a real honor. The whole album is fantastic, but the song “Many Mirrors” had a pure, adventurous energy to it that really resonated with me. I took that feeling, and used it to create a visual world in my mind’s eye… and that’s what ultimately turned into this video. I had a lot of fun making it, and I’m really happy to be able to contribute, in a small way, to the band’s story!”

Originating back in 2011 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the band gained attention with 2014’s debut Alvvays, whilst 2017’s sophomore album Antisocialites further honed their sound.  The release of the second album was followed by an extensive North American tour, on which the group often played slots supporting The National.  The road to the release of their third album, after the tour, was not an easy one – lead singer Molly Rankin’s apartment was burgled shortly after work began on new songs, and a recorder containing several demos was stolen.  This was closely followed by a basement flood, which threatened to destroy all of the band’s gear.  Despite these setbacks, however, Alvvays renewed efforts on a third album in October 2021, and Blue Rev was recorded in a Los Angeles studio with producer Shawn Everett.  The album was released almost a year later.

The video was shot on Praia de Almagreira beach in Portugal and directed by the prolific French music video director Yoann Lemoine (Katy Perry – “Teenage Dream“, Lana Del Rey – “Born to Die“, Harry Styles – “Sign of the Times”). Speaking with NME recently Lemoine said “Twigs approached me with a beautiful treatment for “killer” that she had written about her personal story. It felt empowering and vulnerable at the same time. I said yes instantly when she asked me to direct it. It was the perfect opportunity to portray her in a way that we have not seen before, raw and intimate“. Going on he explained “The video is about the poison and the fuel that personal trauma is in art. How our experience forces us to create and how sometimes it is only inhibition and violence“.

The overall feeling stirred by the video is a powerful one, with a climactic scene that sees Twigs watch on helpless as she and her lover, now wearing a demonic mask, make love in a hellish landscape. It’s an interesting take on someones facade slipping the more you become engrossed in them, with the mask seeming to represent her partners true identity, it can be seen as a twist on the well trodden Scooby-Doo reveal that we’re all used to. It’s a vulnerable and nightmarish take on trauma and the dangerously hypnotic nature of love, with Twigs representing herself as honestly as ever.

Elsewhere FKA twigs has released a handful of music videos recently for tracks from her 2022 mixtape Caprisongs, including “Papi Bones,” “Honda,” and “Oh My Love”.
