‘Vampire Bat’ was a collaboration with Dave Bayley, the lead singer of Glass Animals, and composer and producer Rob Bisel, known for his work with popular American singer-songwriter SZA. The Fresh Fruit Series includes tracks ‘Lost Control’ with Joey Bada$$, ‘Gold Lime’ and ‘Tokyo Drifting’ with Denzel Curry, and ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)’, with Albert Hammond Jr. This Fresh Fruit project has allowed space to push their comfort boundaries, with each release having a separate and unique sound. 

‘Vampire Bat’ explores the duality of fame and the struggle with balancing artistic desire and the spotlight that comes with their career. It highlights the conflict of enjoying and wanting success with the realities of being in the public eye. The song goes back and forth between the ideas of desire and love. 

Glass Animals have released a lyric music video for ‘Vampire Bat’, which visually mirrors their cover art of a fork stabbing a kiwi in a space-like background. The band had used this kiwi imagery while promoting the song before it’s release, referencing the Fresh Fruit Series. The song has a smooth, melancholy feel with a psychedelic flow to the sound, allowing for a close and personal listening experience for the audience. ‘Vampire Bat’ has bridged a gap between their earlier work and the hip-hop-influenced style from their popular album ‘Dreamland’ from 2020, which just turned five years old this past week.  

Glass Animals is currently on tour in support of their fourth studio album ‘I Love You So F***ing Much’. This world tour started last year in North America before heading to Europe and the UK last autumn, ending in London. The band extended the tour this year, coming back to North America all summer, starting in New York back in June, and is wrapping up this leg of the tour with shows in Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada this weekend, August 15-17.  

The singer’s new song has elements of pop, dancehall, and Afrobeats. Leigh-Anne’s new single was also released with a music video directed by Femi Ladi, co-creative directors Leigh-Anne and Natalie Westernoff, and choreographed by Nicole Hastings. 

The music video shows a vibrant and lively carnival-inspired visual capturing the energy of a party in a packed after-hours basement. The choreography mirrors a celebratory energy from the track. The visuals immerse viewers into this party scene heavily inspired by Caribbean carnivals, drawing on Leigh-Anne’s heritage. The cinematography style of a warm, vibrant color palette also enhances the visual experience for her audience. This music video highlights Leigh-Anne’s powerful stage presence, showcasing an ability to command attention and emphasize her creativity. 

This single follows her 2024 EP ‘No Hard Feelings’, which included six tracks gaining over 65 million streams globally, and her track ‘Nature’ off the EP surpassed 5 million streams, currently her most popular song on Spotify.  

Leigh-Anne is well known for being a part of the female pop group Little Mix along with Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, and Perrie Edwards. The band formed back in 2011 on the UK’s X Factor show, which became a massive success in the 2010s with multiple UK number one singles, platinum-selling albums, and wins of multiple Brit Awards and Teen Choice Awards. Little Mix went on hiatus in 2022 for the members to pursue solo projects. 

There is difficulty in finding individuality after being tied to a band and other voices for a decade; however, Leigh-Anne found her sound and identity post Little Mix with her EP and newly released single. The singer is entering an era on her own, shaping who she is as an artist and creator.

‘Been A Minute’ has now climbed to Leigh-Anne’s top three songs on Spotify with over 200,000 streams in this first weekend. You can listen to the new single on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and YouTube. Leigh-Anne is scheduled to perform at Boardmasters in Cornwall, and Reading and Leeds Festival in August.   

Wet Leg’s other two singles, ‘CPR’ and ‘Catch These Fists’, have become a huge success, both reaching their top three songs on Spotify. These three lead singles are features on their new sophomore album ‘Moisturizer’, set to release on July 11. The album will consist of twelve tracks, including songs ‘Jennifer’s Body’, ‘Pond Song’, ‘Pillow Talk’, ‘Pokemon’, and ‘11:21’. The album will be released by their record label, Domino Records. ‘Moisturizer’ will include songs inspired by romantic relationships, including the new single ‘Davina McCall’. The album was created and recorded while Wet Leg were living together in a remote house in Southwold, England.

Wet Leg formed in 2019, releasing their first ever song ‘Chaise Longue’ in June 2021, gaining popularity quickly, reaching the UK and US Charts, helping launch the band into the public eye. They released their debut self-titled album ‘Wet Leg’ in April 2022 with popular songs including ‘Wet Dream’, ‘Too Late Now’, ‘Being In Love’, ‘Supermarket’, and ‘Angelica’.

This debut album reached the number one spot on the UK Album Charts, as well as the UK Independent Charts. They later won Best Alternative Music Album for the self-titled album and Best Alternative Music Performance for ‘Chaise Longue’ at the 65th Grammy Awards. 

Wet Leg is currently on tour and has performed in London, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Manchester over the past few weeks. They will be performing this upcoming Friday, June 27 at the famous UK music festival, Glastonbury on the Other Stage. The band will also make an appearance performing at Boardmasters Festival in Newquay, Cornwall, in August before heading over to North America in September with shows in Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles. She’s released a cinematic video for the new track too. The visual accompaniment, directed by KC Locke, sees Jorja dancing and performing in a dimly lit rave and riding in the passenger seat of a fast car, looking glamorous in a fur coat and jewellery.

She’s explored garage music in her previous work, with notable releases like ‘On My Mind’, a smooth, soulful collaboration with renowned UK grime producer Preditah.

Jorja has shared her excitement for the single in a press release: ‘The Way I Love You’ is just so much fun. It takes me back in time – there’s something nostalgic about it but now at the same time. I had the pleasure of working with Maverick Sabre, Ed Thomas and Shayk on this one. Every time I play it with my girls, I get so hyped – it’s a proper head-skanker.

Her last album, ‘Falling or Flying’, was released in 2023 to positive reviews, peaking at No. 3 on the UK album chart. The Walsall singer has been dropping several new singles recently, from downbeat, emotional numbers like ‘Don’t Let Me Go’ to the uplifting afro-house banger, ‘High’.

One notable collab that came recently was with AJ Tracey on the rapper’s sample-grime single ‘Crush’. The track saw Jorja trade singing for rapping, with fans commending her for the inclusion of her Midlands accent.

As well as her new musical activity, it was confirmed earlier this April that Jorja would be joining the bill of Open’er Festival. The event will take place in Gydnia, Poland, from July 2 – July 5. She joins a stacked lineup including J Balvin, Schoolboy Q, Doechii, and headliners Linkin Park, Massive Attack and Nine Inch Nails.

This isn’t the only festival she has booked for this year – she’ll also be appearing at Parklife 2025 in Manchester alongside headliner 50 Cent, and Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool where she’ll share the same stage as Lola Young, Tate McRae and Mumford & Sons.

Later in May she will embark on her ‘Falling Or Flying’ 2025 tour, with gigs scheduled in Manchester, Wolverhampton, Dublin and London. You can find our MXDWN coverage on that here.

The band was formed in 2018 by Sarah Harvey on vocals, Meg Fretwell and Romi Lawrence on guitar, Emily Smith on bass, and Nick Doherty-Williams playing drums. The band have a self proclaimed “No f*cks given” ethos and have carried this through their discography, releasing their first EP in 2020 ‘Baby Shack’ with fan favourite song ‘The Ick’ – a playfully angry track about going off a past love interest. The song has since amassed over 2m listens on Spotify. 

Panic Shack have brought this energy to their latest release ‘Girl Band Starter Pack’. The band released the music video in a YouTube live premiere, where they discussed the song’s inspiration.  The band describe the track with, “this song doesn’t need much of an explanation it’s about how fucking HYPED we get when we are all together”.

In an interview with Dork magazine, they discuss their inspiration further, revealing that “‘Girl Band Starter Pack’ was the title of our inspiration playlist on Spotify when we first started the band,”. 

The music video for their new single is an energetic, colourful display of their chemistry. With nods to the 2000s teen rom-com Wild Child, the video shows the band portrayed by Welsh drag queens Jolene Dover, Lasagne Sheets, CiCi and Bopa Rhys. The artists mess around in fun, playful outfits and embrace their youthful energy in what has been identified by fans as Caroline Street (or Chippy Lane) in Cardiff. When explaining the creative decisions of the music video, the band stated “who else could play us better than a bunch of sassy, sexy, stunnin Welsh drag queens?!”.

Along with this release, the band have announced their self titled debut album out on 18 July. They will also be embarking on their UK Don’t Quit Your Day Job tour in May and June 2025. The band are well known for their wild live performances, sharing in an interview with DIY magazine that they’re favourite part is “the unknown element […] Who’s gonna crowdsurf? Who’s gonna get in the pit? What shots are we gonna have to neck on stage?”. Panic Shack have also shown this opening for the similarly wild and unpredictable Soft Play. 

With this, fans eagerly anticipate their upcoming tour and what shocks they will bring to the performance of their new and unreleased tracks. Tickets are available on their website.
