Pusha T has added a new London performance at Brixton Academy to his upcoming UK and Ireland tour in support of his album It’s Almost Dry, released earlier this year.
Pusha previously announced shows that will start on December 14th in Manchester, travel to Birmingham on December 15th and Bristol on December 18th, before concluding on December 21st in Dublin. A London performance at the O2 Academy Brixton has since been added on December 19. Tickets for the London performance go on sale on Monday, August 22, at 10 a.m. BST.
It’s Almost Dry, Pusha T’s fourth studio album was released in April. Pusha told NME that it’s the “rap album of the motherfucking year,” and NME gave it a perfect five-star review. The review said: “The 44-year-old has proved time and time again that he’s your go-to for hip-hop classics – and his fourth studio album consolidates his status”. It continued: “Pusha T has managed to elevate his art to new heights, signalling that the artist is nowhere close to being done. Despite being longer than ‘Daytona’, there is succinct preciseness to ‘It’s Almost Dry’ with Pusha’s lyricism, in particular, never left wanting. Alongside the outstanding production, it makes for an instant hip-hop classic.”

Pusha T is a hip-hop artist and record company executive. He gained notoriety as one half of the hip hop group Clipse, which consisted of his older brother No Malice and was primarily active from 1994 until 2010. As Clipse, the two enjoyed smash singles like “Grindin” and “When the Last Time,” as well as three studio albums and several mixtapes. They also established the record company Re-Up Records and the clothing line Play Cloths.

Pusha T joined Def Jam Recordings in September 2010 and signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music imprint. He appeared on Kanye West’s song “Runaway” later that year, which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2013, he released My Name Is My Name, his first solo album. In November 2015, Kanye West named Pusha T to succeed him as president of GOOD Music.

James Bay has been announced as the headliner of 2022’s Legends of Football as it returns to Grosvenor House to celebrate England Manager Gareth Southgate OBE. Legends of football is an annual event that celebrates the achievements and careers of some of the greatest footballers and managers in the sport, and has raised £8.5 million for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins in it’s 20 years of running. You can click here for more information about the event.

Nordoff Robbins use music therapists to help some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in our society, working with adults and young people suffering with life-limiting illness such as dementia, mental health issues and learning disabilities including autism and physical disability. Nordoff Robbins began back in 1958 and is the UK’s largest music therapy charity. It was first developed through the 17 year long collaboration of American musician Paul Nordoff and British musician Clive Robbins, who sought to devise a therapy for children with disabilities. The therapy involved immersing patients in music by both listening and learning how to play, and was grounded in the belief that everyone can respond to music no matter how ill or disabled they are. Click here for more information about the charity.

This year, the Brit award winning and Grammy nominated singer-songwriter James Bay will be headlining the event as Gareth Southgate is inducted into the Legends Of Football Hall Of Fame. James Bay recently secured a No.4 album in the UK’s Official Charts for his third record Leap, overtaking Paolo Nutini’s Last Night In The Bittersweet to grab the spot. He is one of Britain’s most successful international exports of the last decade, with his early single “Hold Back The River” going platinum in the United States and 3 times platinum here in the UK.

Speaking about headlining the event, Bay said: “I’m honoured to be headlining Legends of Football 2022. I have always been a huge football fan, Alan Shearer was my hero at the age of six and I’ve been an avid Newcastle supporter ever since, so it’s wonderful to be involved with Legends of Football this year to celebrate Gareth’s stellar career as a player and manager whilst supporting a brilliant charity like Nordoff Robbins.”

It’s likely that football is going to be on the minds of many at the moment, with England’s lionesses beating Spain last night in the 2022 women’s Euro’s tournament, and the World Cup fast approaching. So let’s hope there can be many more collaborations between music and football moving forward to help those in need.

Big Thief have announced two upcoming shows in Tel Aviv, Israel at The Barby Club on July 6th and 7th 2022. It will come at the tail end of their European tour that begins tonight in Paris at La Cigale and promotes their beautiful 5th album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You that came out on 4AD back in February this year.

It will mark the second time the indie folk outfit have played the venue in Tel Aviv and the second time they have had to put out a clarifying statement regarding the gig’s position in the ever turbulent political climate of Israel. Recent campaigns such as the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement have rallied for the global boycotting of Israel in relation to their treatment of Palestinian citizens in the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel. However, many believe the movement to be anti-semitic, with the resulting back and forth causing a difficult political rift to navigate as a touring musician or band wishing to play in Israel.

Big Thief have addressed the matter for the second time with a statement that mirrored its predecessor in expressing the band’s desire to play Tel Aviv being directly attributed to their bassist Max Oleartchik’s and his hometown origins being with the city. It’s a classy move from the candid and thoughtful band from Brooklyn and a welcome reminder that art should still breath freely and be given an impartial voice in the increasingly outspoken and volatile political world that we traverse.

Their statement read: “We are excited to announce two shows in Max’s hometown, Tel Aviv, Israel, Barby on July 6th and 7th. Accompanying this announcement, we would again like to clarify our motivations and intentions for playing in Tel Aviv, Israel, with as much transparency as possible.”

They continued “Over the last seven years we’ve traveled constantly around 3 of our members’ home country, the United States, meeting each other’s families and childhood friends and sharing in the joys and sorrows of a complicated, beautiful and tumultuous home. We have grown so close. It is important for us to share our homes, families and friends with each other in order to gain a deeper understanding of one another and the people and places that have made us who we are. It is important for us to go where we have family to share space and play for them. It is foundational. It is in that spirit that we made our decision to play in Israel.

We are well aware of the cultural aspect of the BDS movement and the desperate reality of the Palestinian people. In terms of where we fit into the boycott, we don’t claim to know where the moral high ground lies and we want to remain open to other people’s perspectives and to love beyond disagreement. We understand the inherently political nature of playing there as well as the implications. Our intention is not to diminish the values of those who support the boycott or to turn a blind eye to those suffering. We are striving to be in the spirit of learning.

With this in heart, the show’s profits will be donated to NGOs that provide medical and humanitarian aid to Palestinian children, including joint efforts between Palestinians and Israelis working together for a better future.

With love, Big Thief.”

Catfish and The Bottlemen have rescheduled – for the second time – their huge outdoor live gig in Singleton Park, Swansea to the 4th September 2021. With the announcement of life returning to normality, clubs and venues being opened and lockdown restrictions all lifted by June 21st (we hope!), the band have decided to reschedule their show to well after the date, to ensure the performance can definitely go ahead.

The rescheduled date for Swansea Singleton Park is Saturday 29 May 2021https://t.co/xHT9TaP3HA pic.twitter.com/ZCNYRhKu0D

The northern Welsh band planned to originally play the show last year on May 20th 2020, yet due to the pandemic, this had to be postponed. The quartet then rescheduled to May 29th 2021, but in light of the governments roadmap plan to lift lockdown restrictions, Catfish and The Bottlemen have had to reschedule again. All tickets from last year will remain valid for the September show however. They will be supported by Surrey four-piece You And Me At Six, Welsh indie rockers Feeder and pop-rock band Yonaka.

Their latest album ‘The Balance’, was released in 2019. It received a 3 star review from NME who stated that it is a “technically accomplished and assured record” and “There are solid pop-rock hooks and plenty of frontman Van McCann’s much-touted swagger.”

The band will have a busy weekend as they are also headlining Neighbourhood Weekender the day after their huge show at Singleton Park. On Sunday 5th September, Catfish and The Bottlemen will be on the main stage along with Sundara Karma, The Wombats and newcomers Sports Team. Tickets to the festival can be found here.

Indie band The Lathums have announced that they will play a show live from Blackpool tomorrow (28/10/2020) that’ll be live-streamed in the Blackpool Tower circus ring. The band went from playing sold-out shows and support bands across the country when Covid-19 hit and stopped them in their tracks, postponing their plains and forcing them to take a break. However, the Lathums are back with a new show with a twist and clowns to boot.

The Lathums are an Indie/Alternative band featuring Alex Moore on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Scott Concepcion as the lead guitarist, Johnny Cunliffe playing the bass guitar, and Ryan Durrans on the drums. The four of them rose to success through some not very conventional methods, rather than releasing an album The Lathums released s number of EP’s and singles over the course of a couple of years yet still managed to gain a cult following and amassing over millions of streams on Spotify.

Like most artists, over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Lathums found it very hard to adjust to the new norm. Going from ‘Wigans Heros‘ and playing sold-out gigs, to postponing tours and settling into lockdowns, The Lathums took the time to reflect and grow “we had time to reflect and focus and see what we needed to do and have a bit of time to write“. This paid off with the release of their latest single ‘I See Your Ghost’ gaining almost 100,000 streams on Spotify despite being released earlier this October (2020).

It hasn’t been a full halt for the 4 young men, like with the release of their new single, they also managed to showcase the new song on Later…With Jools Holland. This certainly added to the band’s notoriety and expanded their fan base but the news from them didn’t stop there. The band announced their new EP ‘Ghosts’ that’ll be releasing later this October (30/10/2020).

The chance to perform at the Blackpool Tower circus ring is not something that happens very often. They are the first band to perform there since the 1990s after Madness played there last. It isn’t a surprise the Lathums chose Blackpool for their venue, Alex Moore told the BBC that they’re all very nostalgic, liking to listen to older music and form their music around nostalgia and older bands like Madness “I have always liked older music – 40s, 50s, 60s”

The Lathams are one of the more popular up and coming bands of the last few years with a bright future and great music. The live stream will take place tomorrow (28/10/2020) at 8:00 PM, you can sign up for it here
