London’s own Raw Power Festival have released their latest wave of hot new talent for their 2022 lineup. The festival has a notorious reputation for championing the weird, feared and revered in an atmosphere fit for mad moshers and wall clingers alike. In a press statement, the expansive weekend has been described as; “Boasting an annual handpicked selection of innovators, mavericks and maniacs from the wildest, heaviest and most intimidating frontiers of alternative and experimental music, from the legendary to the freshly formed.”

Formerly the intimate festival has become synonymous with eclectic acts and activities. Among the former artists to play at this shindig are the mysterious krautrock legends Faust, As well as the Japanese noise rock sensations Melt Banana. Last time round SCORN (aka Mick Harris) brought their bassy industrial electronica into the fray alongside Chrome Hoof, who occupy a realm somewhere around a grand chamber rock orchestra. For those who enjoy acts crawling in from the furthest fringes of modern music’s radar , Raw Power is a must. If you need more convincing, take a look at last year’s highlights down below:

Mentioned in a statement, the founder of Raw Power Anthony Chalmers has shared his thoughts on who he is most eager to see take the stage this year; “Added to the roster is Middlesbrough’s spoken word/noise Benefits, plus fresh off their new album Nocturnal Manoeuvres South London’s, John. Joining them is Rocket Recordings recent drone folk signing Alison Cotton, from the Islington Mill in Manchester Water will be doing a tribute to their recently departed band leader Lousie Bolla. Plus Lice from Bristol and Baba Yaga’s Hut favourites Black Shape and Kulk.”

This year, performances will be taking place on the hallowed stages at The Dome and Boston Music Room in Tufnell Park, London. With acts spread across the weekend starting on the 26th of August 2022 through to the 28th. The neighbouring venues have shared some dazzling history together over the years. Seeing the likes of Fugazi, Sham 69, The White Stripes, Blur, The Alabama Shakes, Turnstile, Lily Allen, Florence & The Machine and The 1975 collectively carve these venues into the map.

As of yet, the Raw power Festival is due to announce its full revised lineup, with many big names still in the pipeline.
