Bloc Party’s seventh album ‘Anatomy of A Brief Romance’ was announced today for a September release, heralded as a deep reflection on frontman Kele Okereke’s lived experiences. The news came with a taster in the shape of foreboding love song ‘Coming On Strong’ as the album’s lead single.

After passing the milestone of 20 years since their unforgettable debut album ‘Silent Alarm’ in 2025, Bloc Party’s triumphant return to the top of the UK’s indie rock scene continues without pause. Since releasing their last album ‘Alpha Games’ in 2022, the London group received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection in 2025, and have returned to headlining major events like Brighton’s On The Beach series and this March’s BBC Radio 6 Music Festival. The announcement of the new album comes at a big time, before Bloc Party are due to tour with Muse in North America and Interpol in the UK later this year.

‘Anatomy of A Brief Romance’ is shaping up to be an exciting album packed with heart, passion and storytelling. Lead singer and guitarist Kele Okereke has opened up about the real experiences behind the music in a statement, saying “every lyric you’re hearing on this record was something that actually happened to me. I had to tell the story, from start to finish”. According to NME, the concept of much of the material was developed following Okereke’s separation from his former partner and father of his children, when he suddenly found an unexpected new relationship. He adds “having this romance, this new thing emerge, it kept me sane, in a very dark time”.

Today’s brand new single ‘Coming On Strong’ carries these themes heavily through it. Its dark, tense vibe is filled with lyrics that tell of a new relationship that sounds ominously toxic. Okereke breaks it down as “that feeling of, I’ve had my eye on this person for a while, and then we’re finally in a situation where we can be something to each other. And that’s such a seductive feeling”, before further explaining the root of the tension – “you’re not seeing their problems, and they’re not seeing your problems. You’re just shaping up and getting ready for this ride… I like the fact that harmonically and musically, it feels dark, sinister, like something is creeping up.”

The Rolling Stones are back this year with 25th studio album ‘Foreign Tongues’, having released new single ‘In The Stars’ earlier this week. The album will feature appearances from Sir Paul McCartney, Robert Smith and others, as well as a recording of late drummer Charlie Watts, who passed in 2021.

One of the peerless founding bands of British rock music, The Rolling Stones formed in London in 1962, enjoying a career spanning 7 decades, 24 studio albums, and thousands of sold-out shows. The Stones lineup since 2021 consists of frontman Mick Jagger plus guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – the band had been active since 1993 as a four-piece with Charlie Watts on drums before his death, but released 2023’s ‘Hackney Diamonds’ as a trio using some of Watts’ recordings. ‘Hackney Diamonds’ was their first full studio album since 2005, becoming their 14th UK number one album and winning them their fourth Grammy award.

Rumours of an album began earlier this year with the mystery emergence of ‘The Cockroaches’, a new group who released single ‘Rough and Twisted’ exclusively on a limited vinyl run this April. From snippets of the song posted during its social media campaign, the band was swiftly revealed to be The Rolling Stones acting under an alias, with the single being positively received as another strong release from the group. During the furore The Times reported that ‘Rough and Twisted’ was taken from their new album, which was due for a July release.

Their next promotional move was the plastering of cryptic messages on billboards in cities around the world, containing the phrase “foreign tongues” in various languages. As this unfolded in late April, fans quickly identified that it was the name of the new Stones album, before the band themselves confirmed everything on the 5th of May with the release of lead single ‘In The Stars’.

‘Foreign Tongues’ will release on the 10th of July, boasting 14 tracks with appearances from Sir Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, drummer Chad Smith of Red Hot Chilli Peppers fame, and Steve Winwood. As well as singles ‘In The Stars’ and the full release of ‘Rough and Twisted’, the LP will also feature one of the last tracks recorded by Watts, ‘Hit Me In The Head’, and country song ‘Ringing Hollow’. The whole album was completed at London’s Metropolis Studios in less than a month, and was developed with returning producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked with the band on ‘Hackney Diamonds’.

Following the announcement, the trio were guests on Conan O’Brien’s US talk show to discuss the album. Reported by The Guardian, Jagger discussed the diversity of music on the record, saying “The thing about this record is – the Stones are a rock band that also has the capacity to do ballads, country music or dance music. So we don’t get stuck in one kind of style.” They also talked about their desire to keep things interesting so deep into their careers, with Richards remarking “You don’t just want to sit on what you’ve done before. We put it together, we love to do it, and there is always something more in there.” Host O’Brien enthused that the album, which he claims to have received early and listened to “25 times”, bore similarity to 1972’s iconic ‘Exile on Main St.’ in its “vibrancy” and “urgency”.

‘Rough and Twisted’ and ‘In The Stars’ are out now, with a physical release for the latter coming on the 15th of May. ‘Foreign Tongues’ releases on Polydor and Geffen on the 10th of July, with pre-order links up now. The Rolling Stones have suggested that this won’t be their last album, and they have at least 10 songs written for a future release.

British girl group FLO have announced their second studio album ‘Therapy at the Club’. The new LP will drop on the 24th of July and will consist of 16 tracks. The trio released ‘Leak It’ a month ago, and their title track ‘Therapy at the Club’ came out yesterday.

Members Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer are known for their contemporary take on R&B music and have a strong presence in the pop scene. FLO earned their first Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album in 2026 for their debut album ‘Access All Areas’. Although they didn’t take the title home this year, they made history being the first British girl group to be nominated in two decades. That being said, they were awarded their first MOBO for Best R&B/Soul Act in March.

Only a month after their big win, FLO revealed through a press release that they would be dropping more music. In the official statement FLO stated “We’re incredibly proud to finally share Therapy at the Club, our sophomore album, with the world. It’s a body of work that feels super personal to us; it’s been a labor of love. For us, the club is more than just a night out, it’s like therapy. I mean, where else do you feel more understood than in a girls bathroom on a night out… that’s the vibe!”

“We’ve been very hands-on with the writing and creation of this project alongside our very special collaborators, and that’s made it even more meaningful to us. This album represents where we are right now- honest, evolving, and unafraid to feel everything. We really hope you love it!”

FLO has yet to reveal their other track titles, however they have uploaded an album trailer with vivid storytelling to tease the upcoming LP. Additionally, ‘Leak it’ was released with a flashy music video featuring the girls’ dancing abilities that has given them their stellar reputation.

While they haven’t scheduled a tour for 2026, today they announced a set of dates for ‘Therapy In Session’ where they will be holding acoustic sessions. They will be going to 8 different locations in July to host a Q&A and play some of their new material. Tickets go on sale tomorrow on the 8th of May at 11am. As well as this, they will be attending Radio 1 Big Weekend on the 24th of May as well as Outloud Music Festival between the 5th and 7th of June.

The album is available to pre-order and pre-save now via their website.

French house producer Madeon returned from a creative break last year, beginning the next era of his musical adventure. This week, he’s confirmed the release date for third studio album ‘Victory’, as well as launching new anthem ‘Fire Away’, featuring guest vocals from US star Slayyyter.

Hugo Leclercq, better known as Madeon, has been a known quantity in the electronic music sphere since his Youtube break through with mashup video ‘Pop Culture’ when he was just 17. Following a rapid climb with several strong house and EDM singles, all of which he mixed, produced and mastered himself, he released debut album ‘Adventure’ in 2015. The album was an incredibly fun selection of bouncy, electropop fun borrowing vocal talents from Bastille, Foster The People and Passion Pit, as well as Leclercq himself singing for the first time on closing track ‘Home’. At the time, he said “I don’t see myself as a singer but I thought it would be weird to have anyone else do the song so I kept it the same as the demo on the album.”

After the releases of his hit ‘Shelter’ with frequent collaborator Porter Robinson in 2016 and follow-up LP ‘Good Faith’ in 2019, Madeon had pushed himself out there as the main vocal star of his own music. The boundary-breaking tracks on ‘Good Faith’ drew influences from across EDM, rap, pop and gospel genres, with Leclercq’s gentle, digitally-enhanced singing voice becoming a huge part of the dreamy sound. The touring cycle from ‘Good Faith’ was long and arduous, and after signing off with 2023 single ‘Gonna Be Good’, Madeon took a gap year from producing his own music.

Since returning refreshed in 2025 with energetic new electronic-tinged indie rock singles ‘Hi!’ and ‘Car Crash Baby’, Madeon has reinvented himself as a frontman, a singer-songwriter – a genre-melding maverick. He announced third album ‘Victory’ in October last year, also confirming it would be the name of his new era of music and theatrics. With all 10 tracks completed in March, he revealed new single ‘Fire Away’ this week, featuring vocal cuts by US singer Slayyyter.

The song is a stomping dance-floor anthem, which Madeon breaks down as “a song about love as warfare, words like weapons of the brokenhearted.” Speaking of the feature, he says “Slayyyter embodied the other side of the story and her voice took the song to another level, her performance has so much confidence and attitude, she’s electric.” Slayyyter has also spoken of the experience, writing “I’ve been a fan of Madeon for such a long time; I am so grateful to have gotten to work with him on this record. I love what we made together.” The track made its debut live appearance during Madeon’s DJ set at Coachella in April on the Quasar Stage.

After starting the year with a social media wipe and world tour announcements, Enter Shikari dropped eighth studio album ‘Lose Your Self’ at midnight last night, with no fanfare and no warning. The follow up to 2023’s ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’ is another statement piece from the St Albans alternative rock quartet, who have always embedded symbolism and ethical messages into their music.

Since their inception in 2003, vocalist Rou Reynolds, guitarist Rory Clewlow, bassist Chris Batten and drummer Rob Rolfe have continuously evolved their sound. Enter Shikari is best known for a lively fusion of rock, hardcore punk, and electronic dance music. In the early days, they leant heavily into the hardcore and rave elements, but ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’ saw them embrace a vibrant synth-pop style while still maintaining a strong rock presence. The band has also been lauded as one of the top British live acts of the last 20 years, since their breakthrough as rowdy rave-rockers through to their current era of arena-crushing rock with a heart.

Since announcing their tour dates for the UK, Europe and North America back in January, Shikari returned to radio silence. The group had not released any material since ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’, which was a UK Number One Album in 2023, and its remixed companion piece ‘Dancing On The Frontline’ in 2024. Last night however, their Instagram account was again cleared of content, save for one post revealing the surprise release of ‘Lose Your Self’, which had snuck its way onto the internet at midnight.

In a newsletter, Reynolds explained the rationale behind its low-key launch: “We’re delighted to present LOSE YOUR SELF, and give people the chance to hear a Shikari record like never before – as a cohesive whole. We want people to go on a proper journey with this album, and see where it takes them. No lead up, no singles, and no explanation. Forcing the listener to actually listen, without being drip-fed ideas out of context, or spoon-fed explanations. We simply present it all, for the listener to immerse themself in. Releasing in this way was also a decision to not be distracted by chart races, or accolades and things. We got the No.1 album on our last record. This is simply about the music being presented in a natural way.”

Enter Shikari have always packed their albums and live shows with messages of hope, critiques of the state of the world and urgent pleas for causes like environmental sustainability and peace. The theme of this one seems to be a stark look at the current affairs around AI, with a heavy emphasis on introspection and a cultural loss of humanity. Reynolds finishes the post with the statement “Despite turning out to be one of our darkest and heaviest albums to date, it also preaches hope and offers answers. Shikari will always offer hope, because without hope there is no action. We’ll just always offer it with a dose of realism.”

The title track ‘Lose Your Self’ is a classic Enter Shikari opener, blasting in with big riffs and an EDM feel reminiscent of the band’s live cover versions of Faithless’s ‘Insomnia’. Later songs like ‘Find Out The Hard Way’ are upbeat anthems, while the darkness and negativity comes through in ‘I can’t keep my hands clean’ and both parts of ‘The Flick Of A Switch’. The peak of the album is its genius three-part closing suite ‘Spaceship Earth’, where the feelings of hope begin to flutter up and the boys really get to show off their composing chops on a progressive-rock movement.

Shikari played their first live show of the year in Manchester this week, making an intimate return to the 400-capacity venue Satan’s Hollow on the 9th of April. Their last show there in 2006 stuck with the members as a significant milestone in their ascent to the big leagues. Last night, they announced an April run of small-venue launch shows, which they promise will “give fans a unique experience to see the band up close and personal, and a chance to see the brand new songs live for the first time.” Then, they’re back on the road for their North American tour through the summer, before finishing in November for their Europe, UK and Ireland headlining dates.

‘Lose Your Self’ is out now on streaming platforms, as well as on physical releases available from their official sellers. Catch Enter Shikari touring the album this year on these dates:

‘Great Pretender’ serves as the second single, with ‘Hippy Sunshine’ released last year. NME spoke with lead vocalist, Serge Pizzorno, saying he “[used] his ‘imposter syndrome’ to as a frontman to his advantage.” Pizzorno said he sees “imposter syndrome […] not as a weakness, but as a sign you’re on the edge of something real.” Going deeper he explained “the moment before you go on stage, that ‘now or never feeling’” as “an interesting place to be.” He seeks to normalize the feeling on the song, saying to NME, “On some level, even the greats, we’re all just blagging it. Everyone feels exactly the same, even the best to have ever done it.” And Pizzorno is grateful for the discomfort, acknowledging that “being out of your depth is great because playing it safe is not the one.”

Backed by this inspiration, Pizzorno said writing the song came easily: “‘Great Pretender’ was one of those mornings where the guitar was there and this song literally happened in 10 minutes. They’re few and far between but they’re amazing when they happen.” The single was teased five days ahead of the release with a video from the studio of Pizzorno playing the guitar melody.

The song features a steady anthemic guitar made for crowds to bang their heads along with. The singer said of it, “I just thought, ‘Let’s make a proper f**king guitar track for people to get together’.

Scottish one-man blackened speed merchant Hellripper, otherwise known as James McBain, has this morning released his fourth album, ‘Coronach’, after months of teasing. The album is the first since 2023’s ‘Warlocks Grim & Weathered Hags’ and another release on Century Media Records.

The album’s title refers to a Scottish funeral song that has been referenced in rock on several occasions, through Jethro Tull, Eternal Tears of Sorrow and Hate Eternal all writing songs around it at various points in their career. Hellripper has often incorporated elements of Scottish history, folklore and traditional music into a sound which has marked him out as one of the most exciting young prospects in British metal. Most tracks on the album are in some ways connected to this history, with the single ‘Hunderprest’, for example, telling Scottish vampire stories set to his usual thrashing ferocity.

A new sonic addition for this evening is something of a gothic sensibility alongside the blistering thrash and Scottish influence. On opening track ‘Hunderprest’, a sparkly piano melody pairs with a spoken word passage that is reminiscent of ‘90s Cradle of Filth at their most blasphemous, another band who take black metal influences and meld them with Priest-esque dual guitars and traditional metal flavour.

In giving the album four stars out of five, Kerrang!’s reviewer Olly Thomas writes that “‘Coronach’ is a reinforcement of Hellripper’s compelling vision, 45 minutes of scything magnificence both ancient and timeless. It might hail from the grimiest reaches of the underground, but it deserves to be celebrated by metal maniacs everywhere.”

Hellripper first exploded out of the underground in 2015 with an EP and in 2017 dropped their debut album ‘Coagulating Darkness’. This in turn was followed up by ‘The Affair of the Poisons’ in 2020, settling into a comfortable three year album title. McBain is joined live by a trio of musicians, with Andy Milburn on bass, Joseph Quinlan sharing guitar duties with the frontman and Max Southall laying it down with double-bass madness on drums. Combining the aforementioned Scottish influences with an old-school blackened-thrash style akin to early Sodom or Kreator, they also take influence from hardcore punk. They are at the vanguard of a retro-revival movement within British metal thrash but stand apart through their unique influences.

In her review found in Distorted Sound Magazine, Lucy Dunnett gave the album 10/10, commanding that you “hide all breakable objects in sight, blast the volume to a level you know is medically ill-advised, and succumb to the biting blackened speed metal power of HELLRIPPER as you listen to Coronach again. And again. And again.”

Hellripper have a busy touring schedule ahead on the back of the release of the album. Starting tonight, the band are touring across the UK beginning with dates in their native Scotland before reaching out into mainland Europe for festival season. The tour officially ends on 26 September with a date in Germany’s ‘Coastrock Festival’, the European rhythm interrupted partially by some trips to Mexico.

American heavy metal royalty Armored Saint have announced their ninth album, ‘Emotion Factory Reset’, due for release on 22 May through Metal Blade Records.

In terms of the sound on this album, longtime singer John Bush said that they have synthesised “all our influences through the years, diverse music that we listen to and love, and let that seep in and bring something new out of us. It leads to something more adventurous.”

The album was released with a new single, ‘Close to the Bone’. Bush commented that “The first track on the record sounds like vintage Armored Saint. Yet vintage that comes out in 2026! How did we do that?” Expanding on Bush’s sentiment, bassist Joey Vera has said that “Musically, this song was inspired by my love and appreciation for metal that was coming out around the time of the NWOBHM [New Wave of British Heavy Metal], which is right when Armored Saint was formed. As always, I try to reimagine my early influences by giving them a slight modern twist.”

The track, beginning with a picked, trebly intro, explodes into a thundering riff, in contrasting ways both very traditional and assuringly modern with a slick production. A typically anthemic chorus backs this up and shows the dynamism that the band was known for in the early ‘80s, mixing galloping metal with strong songwriting.

Metal Blade is a natural home for California’s biggest trad-metallists. They started their career there, with the label releasing their three-track eponymous EP in 1983. Despite taking a break from the label during their initial period of success, from 1988 every album they have released has been through Metal Blade, their last release being 2021’s ‘Symbol of Salvation: Live’. That live release was their 1991 ‘Symbol of Salvation’ album in its entirety.

The band were part of a fresh Californian metal scene in the early 1980s, with the band forming a close relationship with Los Angeles thrashers Metallica. Both Bush and Vera were invited to audition for Metallica at various points throughout the 1980s. They have played with that band many times over the years, as well as with bands such as Judas Priest, Aerosmith and Dio. Between 1991-2000, they took a brief hiatus as Bush departed to take up vocal duties among New York thrashers Anthrax, following in the wake of the death of rhythm guitarist Dave Prichard in 1990.

Speaking of the album’s title, guitarist Phil Sandoval said that “to me, ‘Emotion Factory Reset’ means to reset yourself back to clarity. Take a pause and breathe before you respond or react. You can’t control outside events, but you can control your mind”. Adding to this, his brother Gonzo linked it to the technological revolution taking place through the advent of artificial intelligence, saying that “the world is going through a technological upswing/awakening. I look at our planet as the factory and in the most positive way we need to realign, reimagine, reset for our better selves.”

The last time the trio played the Brixton Academy was in May 2001, a two-night residency taking place shortly ahead of their second album, ‘Origin of Symmetry.’ Now, the band will take the stage two months ahead of the release of their tenth studio album, ‘The WOW! Transmission.’ The lead single, ‘Be With You’ is out now.

The band’s announcement of the night at Brixton Academy described the gig as a ‘live transmission,’ a phrase that is part of the interstellar concept their upcoming album sports. Described in a press release as taking its name from “one of the most compelling interstellar mysteries of the last century: a powerful 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source. The astronomer who discovered the anomaly famously circled the now-iconic sequence 6EQUJ5 and wrote ‘WOW!’ on the printout beside it – giving the signal its name and cementing its place in scientific and pop-culture lore.”

The band used sci-fi theming in their recent teaser videos, which built up to the album’s announcement on Thursday 19 March. The announcement came in the form of a livestream of a tablet, launched around 33km in the air, flashing the words: “INCOMING TRANSMISSION. NEW ALBUM: ‘THE WOW! SIGNAL’ . 26.JUNE.2026. THE SINGLE ‘BE WITH YOU’ OUT NOW.” The video can be seen here, on the band’s Instagram.

The 10-track album is reported to cover “a mix of cosmic mystery, existential hope, and the exhilarating possibility of contact with something far greater than ourselves.” The 2025 single, ‘Unravelling’ will be included on the album. Released in June of last year, the track was produced by Bring Me the Horizon collaborator Dan Lancaster, who also joined Muse as a live member in 2022.

The latest single, ‘Be With You’ blends a powerful organ introduction with spacey synthesisers and classic chugging guitar riffs. One fan wrote on YouTube, “Muse doesn’t need a genre, they are the genre.” Genre-bending and boundary-pushing for the entirety of their over 30 year career, Muse shows no sign of falling in line with their tenth studio release.

Tickets for the Brixton Academy show go on sale 10 AM GMT next Friday, 27 March. With pre-sale taking place at the same time on Wednesday 25 March. Fans can access this by preordering ‘The WOW Signal!’ on the band’s official site. Registration for pre-sale closes at 11:59 AM GMT on Tuesday, 24 March.

As part of the album’s announcement, Horan also released the tracklist. The fourteen track album will includes ’She Gets It From Her Mother’, ‘Flowers’ and ‘Pretty’ all tracks also presumed to be about Horan’s longtime girlfriend Amelia Woolley. Known for his intimate and nuanced songwriting, Horan in his last album shifted to what can be described as soft rock and fans can expect an extension of his thoughtful and refined musical storytelling. In an interview with GQ, Horan also describes ‘End Of An Era’ as a tribute to his former bandmate Liam Payne who died in October 2024.

The announcement comes following another from March 4th where Horan released a snippet of himself singing the single ‘Dinner Party’. Due to be released on March 20th, ‘Dinner Party’ is the romantic telling of Horan meeting Woolley. In the post’s caption, he described ‘Dinner Party’ and the events which inspired it as ‘a really happy and big moment in my life, an evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life.” He continued telling fans that the experience inspired the single as the “nucleus for the rest of the record”.
