Scottish based band Twin Atlantic are back with a new single “Stuck In A Car With You”, which has been released on their own label Staple Diet. This new single sees the trio return to the alternative rock sound of their early albums.

“Stuck In A Car With You” will feature on Twin Atlantic’s upcoming 7th studio album, the name of which is yet to be released. The band’s frontman Sam McTrusty is producing and engineering their new album, and whilst they are in the middle of finishing the LP, the singer has teased fans on what’s to come by stating in an interview with NME that “there are a thousand guitars on the record.”

Sam McTrusty said on the subject of returning to the band’s original pop-punk sound “We’ve put our original fans through a bit of a whirlwind, because every record we’ve made almost sounds like a different band”

“With this record, we wanted to make something for the fans, and the kids who first started this band, ‘Stuck In A Car With You’ is a no-nonsense, fast-paced rock song that shines a spotlight on the emotion behind it.”

McTrusty continued, “Since we released [2011’s] ‘Free’ and [2009’s] ‘Vivarium’, fans have basically been asking us to make those albums again. We’ve never been that excited by revisiting the past, but enough time has passed that it felt interesting to do.”

“‘Stuck In A Car With You’ feels like a return but also, we know so much more about crafting songs now that it still feels fresh.”

Alongside the announcement of their brand new single, Twin Atlantic are hitting the road later this year on an intimate UK tour. McTrusty told NME “Maybe it’s a pre-midlife crisis where we want to go back to our teens, touring in a van to places we don’t normally go, but we’re really excited. The shows are going to be fucking amazing and we’re going to give fans an unforgettable night. We’ve been doing this for a minute now and we know how to put on a show. We’re just going to come in and absolutely smash it.”

2022 has been a big year for Ontario’s Alvvays. The indie-pop group released their third studio album, Blue Rev, on October 7th, to critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, Rolling Stone and the New York Times. “Belinda Says”, a track from the new album, was chosen as Pitchfork’s No. 1 song of 2022, and Blue Rev itself was selected as No. 5 on NPR Music’s list of best albums of the year.

Now the band have collaborated with Eric Barone, creator of video games such as Stardew Valley, on a new video for one of the album’s new tracks, the dreamy “Many Mirrors”. Barone, already a fan of Alvvays, heard “Many Mirrors” and was inspired to create a video based on old-school side-scrolling video games.

Discussing the process of making the video, Eric Barone said, “It’s not every day I get an email from a cool band like Alvvays. When I learned they were fans of Stardew Valley, it felt like a real honor. The whole album is fantastic, but the song “Many Mirrors” had a pure, adventurous energy to it that really resonated with me. I took that feeling, and used it to create a visual world in my mind’s eye… and that’s what ultimately turned into this video. I had a lot of fun making it, and I’m really happy to be able to contribute, in a small way, to the band’s story!”

You can watch the video here.

Originating back in 2011 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the band gained attention with 2014’s debut Alvvays, whilst 2017’s sophomore album Antisocialites further honed their sound. The release of the second album was followed by an extensive North American tour, on which the group often played slots supporting The National. The road to the release of their third album, after the tour, was not an easy one – lead singer Molly Rankin’s apartment was burgled shortly after work began on new songs, and a recorder containing several demos was stolen. This was closely followed by a basement flood, which threatened to destroy all of the band’s gear. Despite these setbacks, however, Alvvays renewed efforts on a third album in October 2021, and Blue Rev was recorded in a Los Angeles studio with producer Shawn Everett. The album was released almost a year later.

The group have also added UK and European tour dates to their upcoming 2023 tour. Check out more, and buy tickets, here. Full dates and venues for the UK and Europe are listed below:

Swedish heavy metal group Cult of Luna have announced their latest album, The Long Road North, set for release on February 11th, 2022 via Metal Blade Records.

The album marks the follow-up to this year’s The Raging River EP, and proves that for over two decades. It proves as the band put it that they have forged a sound that has grown incomparable to others ambitious, epic, visceral, and drenched in emotion.

Vocalist and guitarist Johannes Persson stated in a press release “The long road north is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest. It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it’s time. Time to move forward. You don’t know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain.”

After 2019’s A Dawn To Fear, Cult of Luna reached a career highpoint and have continued that journey with their 2021 EP The Raging River EP which now concludes with The Long Road North. Their new release stands as one of their most dynamic and beautiful works to date. Pre-order from their website will begin on December 1st, 2021 and you can view the album artwork below.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have announced their latest album ‘Sticky’, and details of a UK, Irish and European tour. This will be the band’s first new album since they dropped their 2019 record ‘End of Suffering’ and is set for release on October 15. ‘Sticky’ was previewed today on July 5 with the release of the album’s title track as a single.

Carter described the track as being “about that moment where you’re drunk at a bus stop at 3 am. You know there are no more buses, but you sit there anyway because you’re too fucked to figure out your options. Your kebab is on the floor, there’s a Stella in your pocket and you’re woken up by a dirty little fox eating your shoes.”
The upcoming album, was produced for the first time by the bands guitarist Dean Richardson and also features some big names such as Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Lynks and Cassyette. When asked about the album Carter stated that “Someone described it to me as ‘they felt their youth’ when they were listening to the record,” adding that “When you make albums, those are the ones you want to make. Nostalgic, but classic. Timeless, and also modern.”

The punk rock group have previously previewed their new album with the track ‘My Town’, which takes a metaphoric look at the collective mental health of a nation after all the long arduous lockdowns. On the song they collaborated with IDLES frontman Joe Talbot.
Those who pre-order ‘Sticky’ from the band’s official store will then on July 14 at 10am local time receive early access to tickets for their latest tour. Details for said tour were announced around the same time they released the first single off the new album. They are set to tour UK and Ireland for November this year and will also play a pair of gigs at the O2 Academy Brixton in London in January before heading out on a European tour. After the early access period tickets will then go on General sale on July 16 at 10am local time.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes also recently headlined the opening night of the Download Festival pilot, where they played to 10,000 people.
