All Points East festival, hosted in London’s Victoria Park, has announced its first wave of artists for 2024. Running since 2018, All Points East has consistently secured performances from some of the most talented artists from across the music world. Past iterations of the festival have seen the likes of Icelandic singer Björk, Australia’s Nick Cave and his band the Bad Seeds, and American rock band The Strokes. This year’s event will see a considerable number of electronic artists on the bill, as well as stars from rap, rock, and Jazz.

All Points East will be taking place across two weekends in August 2024. Announced today, the supporting acts for the festival’s rock-centric Sunday show will include Portland’s, The Decemberists, and Washington’s Sleater Kinney. Off the back of their eleventh studio album, released this year, Sleater Kinney’s female duo will be bringing their soft rock tunes in support of The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie.

In addition to the rock show on Sunday, the festival has already revealed that the event on August 17th will primarily feature rap music, with British rapper Benjamin Coyle-Larner, better known as Loyle Carner, taking the spotlight as the headliner for the Saturday show. Joining Carner on the same day will be legendary hip-hop artist Nas. A familiar name to all hip-hop heads, Nas is best known for his debut album Illmatic.

1994’s Illmatic has proven to be one of the most influential hip-hop projects of the last 30 years, featuring vocals and production from A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-tip and rap pioneer Pete Rock. Since Illmatic, Nas has been at the forefront of hip-hop’s progression, working with some of the music industry’s biggest names including Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, and Amy Winehouse. The 50-year-old artist has a long list of credits across the media landscape, from multiple films and albums to a feature on the PlayStation 2 classic, Tony Hawk’s Underground, Nas has left a significant imprint on hip-hop culture.

All Points East’s second weekend, beginning August 23rd will see American rock band LCD Soundsystem headline the Friday night. Among those playing on Friday 23rd will be British DJ and producer Floating Points and former outsider artist Jai Paul.

After releasing his demo BTSTU on Myspace in 2007, Jai Paul received considerable attention from the UK music press. In 2019, Paul’s first, and only full album was officially released, despite its unofficial leak occurring six years prior. Jai Paul has had an irregular and sparce musical output, having taken several hiatuses in between his releases. Last year’s Coachella festival saw Paul’s first live performance. His set at All Points East is currently Paul’s only booking for 2024, and with his skittish reputation, it is unclear when the next will be.

Although the double weekend event has only announced a select few acts, more artists will be added to the list in due time. Tickets for August 17th, 23rd, and 25th are currently on sale and can be purchased here.

DJ Shadow has again surprised the music world with the release of a surprise EP, featuring the like of Nas and Danny Brown, as well as an Oscar winner.

The project has been titled The Mountain Has Fallen, taking it’s cue from Shadow’s long-awaited 2016 studio album. The EP is four tracks long and avalable to stream now.

The project’s first tack ‘Systematic’ feature’s New York rap lord Nas, and was premiered during the fourth season of HBO’s Silicon Valley tv show, furthering the show’s reputation for outstanding soundtrack choices.

‘Horror Show’ also features Danny Brown, continuing the momentum from 2016’s outstanding Atrocity Exhibition with a 24 karat banger with one of hip-hop’s most respected producers.

‘Corridors’, the EP’s final track is a collaboration with the aforementioned Oscar winner Steven Price, who has scored films like Suicide Squad (boo), Garvity (which he won the Oscar for), and most recently Baby Driver (which is pretty good.

Prior to the EP dropping, Shadow spoke to Rolling Stone, describing the project as a “victory lap” after 2016’s The Mountain Will Fall.

“Prior to the last album, I made a lot of high-risk moves behind the scenes, including walking away from a comfortable major-label deal […] My thinking was, If The Mountain Will Fall LP ends up being successful, I’d be in a much more positive place in my career.

“With everything that’s happened since it came out, I feel like I bet on myself and won. So I guess you could say that this new EP is my version of a victory lap. It’s a celebration, and an extension of those confident steps forward.”

A remixed edition of the Califronia-based DJ’s most lauded album Endtroducing was also released at the end of 2016, to commemorate the majestic album’s 20th anniversary.

Following a set at 2017’s Glastonbury Festival- as well as joining Run the Jewels during their incendiary set on the Pyramid Stage- DJ Shadow is set to continue with a tour of the UK throughout August and most of the Autumn. you can see the full list of dates below.

Mark Ronson, Nas and Producer Salaam Remi will be named as patrons of the Amy Winehouse Foundation at the fourth annual Amy Winehouse Gala. The event will be held at The Savoy tomorrow, with Mark Ronson being invited as guest of honour.

Ronson, Nas and Remi worked with the singer before her death in 2011. Ronson produced Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ album, while Nas released the Remi produced 2012 song ‘Cherry Wine’, which featured posthumous vocals from the late singer.

Ronson was especially close with Winehouse and told The Gaurdian at the recent premier of biographical documentary ‘Amy’ that she was “one of the best lyricists of this generation”.

Speaking of his appointment as patron Ronson said “Becoming a patron of the Amy Winehouse Foundation is a big deal to me.” He went on to say “It’s very important to help the great work that they are already doing, both with substance misuse and helping talented disadvantaged youth through music. Amy’s music touched so many and also helped them—and now through the Foundation, it continues to help people.”

Meanwhile Ella Henderson, Jess Glynne, Foxes, Vanessa Feltz and The Voice 2014 winner Jermaine Jackman will be named ambassadors for the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

“I’m delighted to be an ambassador for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Amy was the main inspiration for me to pursue my personal dreams to be a singer and songwriter,” says Jess Glynn. Henderson also expressed her gratitude at being made Ambassador, saying “Through the Foundation, Amy continues to inspire even more people, so it’s a great honour to become an ambassador and help continue her legacy.”

The Amy Winehouse Foundation was set up September 2011 in memory of the singer. The charity aims to help vulnerable young people through music, and the Gala will host an auction to raise money for the charity.
