Loathe formed in Liverpool in 2014, and were put on the radar of many after debut album ‘The Cold Sun’ earned them best new band nominations at both the Metal Hammer Golden Gods and Heavy Music Awards in 2018. From there, they perfected their adventurous spin on metalcore, nu metal and djent on ‘I Let It In and It Took Everything’, an album which shot Loathe straight to the upper echelons of the UK’s alternative music scene. Inspired by bands like Deftones, Korn and Slipknot, whose unorthodox approach to heavy music led the nu metal culture in the 2000s, the album has already inspired droves of new bands in the 2020s.

Since the release of ‘I Let It In and It Took Everything’, the band followed it up with ambient companion LP ‘The Things They Believe’ in 2021, and concert recording ‘Audiotree from Nothing’ in 2023 which showcased the energy of their live performances. The last studio update came when they cancelled their 2022 tour dates to concentrate on writing their fourth album, leaving fans rabid for updates. In 2024, Loathe confirmed the album would be out in 2025, and when single ‘Gifted Every Strength’ dropped last May alongside live performances of a then-unknown song, speculation became rife that the album was just around the corner – however a solid announcement didn’t come until this Monday, the 27th of April 2026.

New single ‘Revenant’ was the first thing to be revealed, confirmed to be the mystery song the band was playing live last year. Featuring Eric Balderose and Jami Morgan of US alt-metallers Code Orange, performing here under their new side project NOWHERE2RUN, ‘Revenant’ is a harsh, noisy blast of overdriven bassy grooves, a blistering attack on the ears. While other Loathe tracks ease up the pace with atmospheric interludes and melodic clean vocals, this one revels in being as brutal and dissonant as it can be.

After the release of the single Loathe wasted little time in presenting ‘A Stranger To You’ to the fans. According to news site Lambgoat, the album has been produced and engineered by the band alongside Ed Al-Shakarchi, who has previously worked with acts like Action Bronson and Imogen Heap. The full track listing including ‘Revenant’, ‘Gifted Every Strength’ and another unreleased track they’ve played live named ‘اثينا’, looks like this:

Earlier today, they announced a run of US dates for this September and October, with tickets for that on sale on Friday the 1st of May.

Prince Rogers Nelson, known by various names but chief among them, Prince, was an enigmatic artist. An unparalleled savant and polymath, he was regaled for playing numerous instruments with a natural flair, as well as his ability to write music in nearly any genre with ease. Since 1978, he released a staggering 39 albums across numerous projects, as well as 5 films including 1984 multimedia-sensation ‘Purple Rain’, which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. His accolades count 7 BRIT Awards, 11 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and a 2004 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

His passing in 2016 due to an accidental fentanyl overdose, with no signs of foul play, shocked the world of music. Since his death however, Prince’s musical releases have not let up – his unrelenting genius yielded a vault of previously-unheard songs, albums and live footage, as well as fully produced music videos that have still yet to see the light of day. While some items have been leaked as raw bootleg versions, others like 2021’s ‘Welcome 2 America’ received a full studio release through NPG.

Today, in memory of 10 years since Prince’s death, his estate have released ‘With This Tear’ as part of their annual ‘A Day 2 Reflect | A Night 2 Remember’ observation of his life. The track was recorded in November 1991 at his Paisley Park home studio in Minnesota. It was originally written, recorded and mixed by himself, but has been remixed and mastered by former collaborator Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Chris James, best known for his work with Frank Ocean and Janelle Monáe. Prince gave the song to singer Celine Dion, which appeared on her 1992 self-titled album as a non-single track.

The music video is an emotional tribute to the great man, opening with a short clip of him saying “when I was younger I always said that, one day, I was going to play all kinds of music, and not be judged for the colour of my skin, but the quality of my work. And hopefully that’ll continue.” Footage of his vast career plays behind the gentle ballad, a reminder of how storied his time on his planet was and the still-growing trove of material he has left behind.

‘With This Tear’ is out now on NPG Records in association with Sony’s Legacy Records. It comes ahead of ‘Prince Celebration, 10th Anniversary Celebration of Life’, a vigil which will see 5 days of gathering and remembrance in Prince’s home of Paisley Park in Minneapolis, including performances by his former backing groups New Power Generation and The Revolution. More unreleased recordings by Prince are due to make their emergence later this year in an as-yet unnamed album project.

Artemis II launched successfully on the 1st of April, embarking on a test run to take new images of the lunar surface and lay the foundations for future moon landings. The Orion spacecraft ‘Integrity’ has travelled around the moon, taking humanity the furthest from Earth they’ve ever been, and is due to return to Earth tomorrow, the 10th of April. The milestone flight marks NASA’s first crewed mission outside low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972.

The mission has been a huge cultural event across all media platforms, from the spectacle of the launch in Florida last week, to the fascinating new photographs of the far side of the moon. At the heart of the project has been the four-person crew, a diverse set of astronauts each defying convention. Commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch and specialist Jeremy Hansen have each endeared themselves to a global audience over the last week and a half, through emotional moments and their sheer wonderment at life in space.

Yesterday NASA revealed the astronauts’ bespoke wake-up playlist, a collection used to rouse them each morning in outer space. In a post on Instagram, the organisation said “Each track was selected by the Moon crew, continuing a tradition that started more than 50 years ago. Stay tuned to find out which songs they’ll choose next.” For yesterday’s selection, the crew started the day with Queen and David Bowie’s 1981 collaborative masterpiece ‘Under Pressure’. The single was the second UK Number One for Queen and third for Bowie, whose lifelong fascination with space saw him create alien alter-ego Ziggy Stardust and write numerous songs themed around astronauts, like tracks ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Life On Mars’, and ‘Ashes To Ashes’.

Another song that has drawn attention on social media is British indie-rock group Glass Animals 2019 single with US rapper Denzel Curry, ‘Tokyo Drifting’. Glass Animals replied to NASA’s update with a simple comment reading “this is the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life ever.” but it has been Curry’s ecstatic raving that has captured the spotlight. On social media site X, he has enthusiastically declared himself “The First Rapper Played in Space” and made the fantastic statement “even aliens f*ck with my sh*t!”

The playlist currently sits at 9 tracks, with NASA suggesting more may be added before the mission’s completion. Other cuts include Chappell Roan’s 2020 single ‘Pink Pony Club’ which became an international mega-hit several years after its release, the appropriately gentle track ‘Sleepyhead’ by Young & Sick, and emotive, atmospheric country tune ‘Lonely Drifter’ by Charley Crockett.

The Orion spacecraft is currently nearing the end of its journey home, and is due to splash down near San Diego tomorrow night at 8PM EDT (1AM BST). You can follow the updates from NASA and the crew of ‘Integrity’ through their official Instagram and X accounts, with plenty more photos and maybe a playlist add-on yet to come.

UMG is a Dutch-American conglomerate, headquartered in the Netherlands and the US, estimated to hold between 31% and 34% of the global market share. Considered the largest of the “Big Three” of the world’s record labels alongside Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group, UMG’s list of subsidiaries includes EMI, Abbey Road Studios, Def Jam Recordings and Motown.

The company’s list of artists puts things in a greater perspective – their full roster boasts Taylor Swift, Bob Dylan, Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Coldplay, The Weeknd and Bad Bunny to name just a few. In their financial report for the year, the group declared that their artists had occupied 9 of the top 10 spots on the year’s IFPI Global Artist Chart for the third consecutive year, as well as 4 of the top 5 artists on Spotify. Universal further reported continued revenue growth throughout 2025, including greater subscription service rates and major successes with Swift, Olivia Dean, Morgan Waller, Stray Kids and the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack.

But this sustained growth is not enough for Bill Ackman, chief executive of Pershing Square, which currently owns a 10% stake in UMG. The US-based investment group also holds shares in Google, Meta and Amazon, and it now seeks to take a majority hold over Universal in order to boost its stock price and profit margins. Pershing Square’s bid of $64 billion aims to fix the “languished” stock prices of UMG, with its problems Ackman identifies as being outside of its music business capable of being “addressed with this transaction”.

According to the BBC, in a letter to the board of UMG Ackman voiced that the company had “dramatically underperformed” in US and world stock indexes, due to various factors but chief among them is his belief that the company is currently only listed in European markets from Amsterdam, and not US ones such as the New York Stock Exchange. A move to list itself on the American stock market was filed in 2025 as per the BBC, with a valuation at the time of approximately $50bn, but this has been delayed since March this year citing “turbulent market conditions” according to Music Business Worldwide.

Further issues hampering UMG’s profitability include the dilemmas around royalty payment from streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, who are known to provide little compensation for music consumption, and the rise of AI-generated music and piracy. The group threatened to pull the rights to their library from social media platform TikTok in 2024, due to issues over royalty payment and concerns about “protecting human artists from the harmful effects of AI, and online safety for TikTok’s users.”

As of today, Universal has not responded to the offer. The BBC reports that since the proposal was made publicly known, UMG’s share price rose by nearly 30% before plateauing at around 10% higher.

Turnstile formed as a hardcore punk band in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010, originally releasing heavy, energetic music to mosh to – but it all changed with 2021 album ‘Glow On’, which eschewed hardcore conventions and instead dove into dreamy pop, shoegaze and rock and roll. While Ebert’s chugging riffs were always a big part of their sound, his melodic leads and solos on ‘Glow On’ became a defining feature that set them apart from the pack.

He parted ways with the band in 2022, following a live absence that saw session guitarist Greg Cerwonka fill his vacancy for dates including their manic set on Glastonbury’s (then-named) John Peel Stage. After his exit, rhythm guitarist Pat McCrory took the reins, and the group went on to release three-time Grammy-winning ‘Never Enough’ in 2025, which was lighter on guitar solos but far denser in its melodic elements and commercialised sheen.

Since his departure, Ebert formed new band The S.E.T., (The Self-Evident Truth), in 2025. The band released one single ‘T.M.T.’, marking a strong return to a hardcore template, with their debut EP ‘Self Evident Truth’ on the way for early March. However, Ebert was then also forced out of The S.E.T. in February of this year. This was allegedly down to a string of attacks he aimed at Turnstile, accusing them of mishandling the takings from a financial benefit gig.

He has repeatedly harassed his old band over various issues in recent times, including accusing the members of being disingenuous over their stance against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) during their controversial activity in US cities. In a deleted post on Instagram, he claimed “No one in Turnstile cares at all about ethics or social issues in general, they’re just pandering to their audience.” Ebert further alleges Turnstile drummer Daniel Fang took out a restraining order against him following his exit from the group.

Music news site Lambgoat were the first to report that an arrest warrant was filed on Tuesday the 31st of March in Montgomery County for Brady O’Brien Ebert. ThePRP also published the Montgomery County arrest warrants database, where you can see one Brady O’Brien Ebert of Silver Springs, Maryland, and his charge of attempted second degree murder. A further charge of first degree assault is also being pressed over the incident which allegedly occurred on Sunday the 29th of March. According to Lambgoat, the arrest warrant was issued on Monday the 30th, with Ebert being held without bond since his arrest.

Ebert, aged 33, made his initial court appearance yesterday, Wednesday the 1st of April, with a further hearing due to take place today to discuss the terms of any bail or bond conditions.

The Ivor Novello Awards recognise excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composition for the screen. The award body remarks on their official site “winning an Ivor Novello is the highest global recognition for songwriting and composing.” This year, the ceremony is in partnership with Amazon Music and is set to take place on 21 May at London’s Grosvenor House.

61 nominees were named Tuesday (24 March) across seven different categories. And of those, 34 nominees are first time recipients. This includes Dean, Alon and Self Esteem co-writer Johan Hugo.

Veteran nominees include two-time winner Little Simz, who has gotten her fifth ever Ivor nod for her single ‘Free’ in Best Contemporary Song. Damon Albarn also received his fifth nomination for the Gorillaz’s ‘Damascus’ which features Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bay.

Lola Young has picked up her fourth ever nomination at the Ivors for her song, ‘Messy’ which is up for PRS for Music Most Performed Work. Welch joins Young in receiving her fourth Ivor Novello nomination, this year’s comes for her song, ‘Everybody Scream,’ for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. The song is co-written by Mistki and Mark Bowen.

Lily Allen’s ‘West End Girl’ is nominated for Best Album which marks the singer’s third Ivor nomination. And Coldplay also gets their third nod for their single ‘Viva La Vida’ for the PRS for Most Performed Work.  This category is said to celebrate “songs that received the most broadcast, online and general performances in the last year, based on PRS data.”

CMAT’s ‘Euro-Country’ has been nominated for Best Album, which is the Irish singer’s second nomination. The Ivors describe the Best Album category as celebrating “exceptional songwriting craft, creativity and cohesion across the record as a whole.” Other contenders for the award include Dean’s ‘The Art of Loving,’ Jim Legacy’s ‘Black British Music’ and Wolf Alice’s ‘The Clearing.’ Dean commented on the Instagram post below announcing her Best Album nomination with four heart emojis, and reposted the announcement to her Instagram Stories. Dean’s second nomination this year comes for her song, ‘Man I Need’ in the Most Performed Work category.

Meanwhile, Tempest is set to compete against himself in for Best Contemporary Song with both ‘I Stand on the Line’ (co-written by Fraser T Smith) and ‘Know Yourself’ (co-written by Smith and Tom Rowlands) nominated for the award.   The Rising Star Award with Amazon Music is another exciting category at the Ivors. 2026 nominees include kwn, Jacob Alon, Chloe Qisha and Skye Newman. The award recognizes songwriters from the UK and Irelands who the Ivor Academy believes are “at the tipping point of greatness.” Last year’s nominees include, PinkPantheress, Holly Humberstone, Rachel Chinouriri and Lola Young, who won the award in 2025.   The Ivor Novello Awards are peer-judged by fellow songwriters and composers. They remain the most prestigious and enduring award to celebrate craft and cultural achievement. And at a time tense with generative AI edging into the creative industries, the Ivors Academy says “when questions around authorship and AI are reshaping the music landscape, The Ivors stand as a powerful affirmation of human creativity and the cultural value of songwriters.”   While fans wait for the awards ceremony on 21 May, Amazon Music has curated an “Ivors 2026″ playlist, including many nominees and spanning a wide variety of genres, here. Knight, the producer of the documentary, sat down with Project Big Screen recently as part of press for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. During the interview, he was asked for updates on the Oasis Live ’25 film. Details on the project have been scarce since its announcement almost one year ago exactly, in March 2025. But Knight told Project Big Screen simply, “it’s phenomenal.” See the entire interview clip below.

Knight goes on to tease that the film has been edited down to four hours, and will continue to go through edits to achieve a more cinema-standard runtime. He emphasised its narrative saying, “it’s a documentary with a plot” and that the production team has actually “expanded [the story].” He says fans will “see when you see it,” to find out just what this expansion entails.

Speaking on the process of making the film, Knight said, “it’s been great, and [the Gallagher brothers are] great.” Knight interviewed them both for the documentary, saying of it, “they’re just one quote after another,” and “they’re just so funny.”

Other excitement about the upcoming film comes from Noel Gallagher himself, just after his BRIT Award win for Songwriter of the Year in February. He said, “Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”

Previously, a source claimed that in documentary footage, “Liam and Noel have never been seen in such an open and vulnerable way” and veiwers will be “spellbound.” What is known for sure is that the crew followed Oasis as they made preparations for their historic comeback, and through the Oasis Live ’25 Tour. The tour marked the band’s first live appearance since their split in 2009, so it’s anticipated that the film will cover the band’s journey back to the stage.

Also, fans have been asked to contribute memories for the film. Manga Studios, the studio behind the documentary, made an appeal last June: “We are asking people all over the world if there is a particular Oasis song that has deep meaning for you. A song that tells the story of a life changing moment, a love, a loss, a heartbreak, or a break for freedom.” There is no word yet on how these contributions will appear in the film.

While Knight is credited as the film’s creator and producer, it is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. The duo’s past directorial credits include LCD Soundsystem’s Shut Up and Play the Hits, and Meet Me In The Bathroom, the 2022 indie rock documentary. There is no release date set and no official title yet revealed, but the documentary is expected to arrive in 2026.

In an Instagram post, the singer shared a photo of herself holding a journal with the track list written in pen, along with drawings and brackets which explain the album’s four-act structure. This homespun reveal cements itself as a Raye tradition—in 2023 the singer revealed the track list of her debut album in the same fashion.

‘This May Contain Hope’ presents itself as a concept album, based around an emotional journey throughout the four seasons. Beginning in Autumn and ending in Summer, each season represents one act and contains four songs, with the exception of Summer which will have five.

Exciting collaborations were revealed with the songs: ‘Click Clack Symphony’ will feature Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer; and ‘Goodbye Henry’ will feature renowned Hall of Fame soul singer, Al Green. These are two impressive features to score on an artist’s second album. But Raye is also keeping this project close to her heart with contributions from three of her family members. ‘Fields’ will feature her ‘Grandad Michael,’ a songwriter in his own right. And track 15, ‘Joy’ will feature Raye’s younger sisters, Abby-Lynn Keen and Laura Keen, known by their respective stage names of Absolutely and Amma. The three sisters have appeared together professionally multiple times: on the cover of Flaunt magazine as well as on the Graham Norton show, and performing together at the 2025 Jingle Ball. 

Raye’s second album has marked itself as a family project since the beginning. The runaway lead single, ‘Where Is My Husband!’ saw a contribution from the singer’s grandmother, Agatha Dawson-Amoah, who delivered the now famous line, “Your husband is coming.” She is listed in the album’s eclectic cast of characters as ‘Gramma.’ A portion of the album’s entire cast can be seen in the sneak peak at the vinyl gatefold shared by the singer in her Tuesday evening Instagram post. The collaborators listed previously are visible there, as well as four of the album’s co-producers: Mike Sabath, Tom Richards, Chris Hill and Pete Clements.

Also in the post, the singer included a note that said “to the mean person who leaked my tracklist you rlly suck (big thumbs down)” as the singer gave the camera a displeased double thumbs-down. But despite leaks, fans have been eager to share their enthusiasm over these album details, now revealed on the singer’s terms.

One fan on X says, “THIS ALBUM WILL BE EVERYTHING AND MORE TRUST!!!!” While on Reddit, one user said they were particularly excited about the contributions from Al Green and Hans Zimmer and the album was “about to be right at the top of my Spotify wrapped.”

Raye is currently on her This Tour May Contain New Music Tour which is set to next land in the US and Canada at the end of the month. True to the tour’s name, she has already given a great deal of her second album’s songs their live debut. Fans have commented on ‘Joy,’ ‘Click Clack Symphony,’ ‘Beware.. The South London Lover Boy’ and ‘Skin & Bones’ as being early favourites.

The album releases 27 March 2026. Until then, in her Instagram post, Raye suggests fans “choose their season” and “claim their title.”

While the first half of the evening will consist of ‘Stay Gold’  performed in full, they promise the second half to be “a mix of [their] favorite songs, old and new.”

‘Stay Gold’ is the band’s breakthrough album, having been certified Platinum by the Swedish Recording Industry Association in January 2015, just seven months after its release.  After the duo appeared on the Graham Norton Show, the album soared from Number 54 to 11, selling 7,726 copies. It was then certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry in April 2015.  The album holds an 80 overall score on Metacritic with critics saying the album “has a rich texture of classic country instrumentation and stirring string arrangements, matching their soaring vocal melodies.” The album includes some of their most popular tracks, ‘My Silver Lining’ currently has over 288 million streams on Spotify while the title track, ‘Stay Gold’ has over 40 million.

The 65-piece Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, hailing from the band’s homeland, will support them in bringing these beloved ‘Stay Gold’ tracks to fans at the Royal Albert Hall. The band said the upcoming show “truly feels like a dream come true.” Previously, the Swedish sisters,  Klara and Johanna Söderberg, played a show with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in January 2025. There, the band played ‘Stay Gold’ in its entirety, in celebration of 10 years since the album’s release. They called the show an “incredible priviledge” and said that the “songs have never sounded better.” Now, they are set to bring the experience to the UK for the first time.

First Aid Kit released their most recent album, ‘Palmino’ in 2022, which was the their first studio project since 2018. It scored 4 stars from NME and a 7/10 from Clash, who called it, “deeply personal and moving” and it was the band’s “most conventionally ‘pop’ work yet whilst still offering the sisters’ unique blend of folk and Americana.”

The show on Tuesday September 29 will be the duo’s second time appearing at the Royal Albert Hall, with their last appearance being in 2014. Presale begins on Wednesday March 11 at 10 AM GMT. ‘Rein Me In’ was released on the deluxe edition of Fender’s album, ‘People Watching.’  Before Dean joined the remix, it was originally the eighth track on the album. The BRIT Award-winning remix debuted on 6 June during a show at London Stadium, with Dean brought on stage to perform. The song, featuring Dean, was then recorded in studio and released on 20 June, including a verse written by Dean. Fender said ‘If I collaborate with another artist on one of my songs, I prefer they write a new part and make it their own, rather than singing whatever I’ve already written.’ He added that ‘Olivia added a female perspective to ‘Rein Me In’, and I think it’s all the better for it. Sharing the stage with her over these last few stadium shows has been a joy.’ Dean added, ‘’Rein Me In’ is my favourite song on Sam’s album, so it was a pleasure to write a new verse from a female perspective. I’ve been a fan of Sam’s for a while now, so I’m so pleased we got to work together on this duet.’ Clash Magazine says the remixed ‘Rein Me in’ ‘takes on tender new tones’ as well as ‘bringing out different shades within Sam Fender’s voice.’

The song has spent a staggering 35 weeks on the Official Charts Top 40 before reaching Number 1. This breaks a record of 19 weeks previously held by Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud.’ Having been an occupant of the Top 40 since June 2025, it previously saw three separate peaks at number 5.

The win for ‘Rein Me In’ serves as a victory lap on a wildly successful year for both Fender and Dean, independently. In 2025 Fender won the Mercury Prize for ‘People Watching.’ The Mercury Prize judging panel said the album was recognized for ‘its cohesion, character and ambition’ and the album ‘will take pride of place in record collections for years to come.’

Also in 2025, Dean won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Her tearful acceptance speech was a tribute to her family, saying, ‘I’m up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant,’ and ‘I am a product of bravery and those people deserve to be celebrated.’

The BRIT Awards official page calls ‘Rein Me In’ ‘one of the defining tracks of the past year.’

Other Song of the Year Nominees at the BRIT Awards include Ed Sheeran for ‘Azizam,’ Lola Young for ‘Messy,’ Lewis Capaldi for ‘Survive’ and more.

Fender also won Best Alternative/Rock Act on Saturday night. While Dean also took home the BRIT Awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for ‘The Art of Loving’) and Best Pop Act. Her four wins makes her the night’s most awarded artist.
