Take That fans listen up, you’re about to relive a concert of your favourite childhood boyband. How, you may wonder? The answer is right there: In a musical. Greatest Days is about to be produced by UK producer-distributor Elysian Film Group. Although the release date remains uncertain as shootings are set for later this year, the concept seems promising enough to get us hyped.

So, what’s this all about then? The movie is based on the UK stage musical The Band. In the film, a group of five 16-year old girls from North-West England are obsessed with a fictional boyband, the songs of said boyband are no other than legendary Take That hits. The story then jumps forward in time to show the girls’ lives years later.

But how exactly are Take That involved? Rumour has it that the project has buy-ins from Take That, and apparently them recording an original song for the movie is also in the talks. 16 Take That hits were used in the stage version, songs that are listed to be included in the movie are Patience, Back For Good, A Million Love Songs, Shine, Relight My Fire and Could It Be Magic. In an interview with Deadline, producer Danny Perkins spilled that “Take That are very much involved in it. They’re excited about the idea of the film and are involved at every step.”

Here is a fan group to support the upcoming Take That Greatest Days movie. Join us over on Facebook https://t.co/rhLr9pRiRv for all things Greatest Days.

“The Band was a special night out and we hope this can be the same. We hope it will be just what people want to see on the other side of the pandemic. It’s about people coming together, it’s nostalgic, it’s about the music that you love at 15, and being in touch with your teenage self. It’s a feel-good movie which we hope will bring joy to people. There are more serious things to be concerned about right now but hopefully this can bring some joy once it can get going”, Danny Perkins hopes.

Funded by an online ‘Kickstarter’ campaign, director Nickolas Rossi and Kevin Moyer have released the opening scene to the anticipated Elliott Smith movie titled ‘Heaven Adores You’.

Adding to the list of talented souls whose lives were cut short, Jeff Buckley and Kurt Cobain alike, Elliott Smith rose to underground notoriety in the nineties beginning with his band ‘Heatmiser’ and moving on to produce five albums, with two posthumous albums ‘From a Basement in the Hill’ and ‘New Moon’ released after his death.

Today Elliott Smith is known amongst a devoted following of fans, but is certainly one of the musical icons whose prolific ability to effortlessly write captivating music has been overlooked. This new movie hopes to convey Elliott in a real light, using intimate footage captured by close friends and family of the troubled musician, as well as being produced by one of his school friends Kevin Moyer.

The website for the movie states that ‘Heaven Adores You’ is an “intimate, meditative inquiry into the life and music of Elliott Smith (1969-2003)….It presents a visual journey and an earnest review of the singer’s prolific songwriting and the impact it continues to have on fans, friends and fellow musicians.’

The movie will also include up to 20 songs that will be unheard by Smith’s fans so far.

Elliott Smith tragically died of a suspected suicide in 2003 after reports of a growing paranoia having believed a white van was following him wherever he went, leading friends to believe he had resorted to drug use. This movie aims to capture the tragic, but yet shinning star that was Elliott Smith and how a man with grubby hair who hadn’t sold millions of records managed to entrance a whole following of fans, and influence fellow and future muscians.
