This coincides with the debut of their new song, “Windows”, alongside their soon-to-be-released album This Life.

Excitement has been growing since Take That announced they were “back for good” following the King’s Coronation Concert. Where they revamped their 2008 single “Greatest Day’s”

The tour begins in Sheffield on April 13th, with the line-up consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. Thereafter they will be hosting two concerts in Dublin, two in Leeds, and four at London’s 02 Arena. The Dublin dates will take place at the 3Arena on Monday, April 22nd and Tuesday, April 23rd.

Announcing the news, Gary Barlow told BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, “New music, it is exciting, we’ve been together for 33 years now so it’s like, ‘what’s next, how do we sound in 2023?There’s nothing more we love than going into a studio and going ‘who are we now, how does our music sound now when it comes out’ and it feels fresh and it feels exciting and it feels like we’re looking upwards.”

The tour will kick off in Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and feature three shows at the beginning of May, prior to four performances at Manchester’s Co-Op Live. The band will then move on to Birmingham for four dates, followed by gigs in Middlesbrough, Nottingham, Norwich, Milton Keynes, Southampton, Plymouth and Swansea. Finally concluding with a show at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium on June 8th. Olly Murs who first gained recognition from his X Factor appearance in 2009, will be the opening act throughout.

The pop group performed together for the first time in four years at Windsor Castle last Sunday 7th May to a star-studded crowd of 20,000 and have confirmed that they are “back for good” with a revised version of their 2008 number one single “Greatest Day”.

Three of the original members, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, and Gary Barlow, performed at the celebration with Robbie Williams and Jason Orange absent from the festivities having left the band in 1995 and 2014 respectively. They started their performance with “Greatest Day” bringing out German Grammy Award-winning DJ Robin Schulz for the tune and then sang two more of their number-one hits “Shine” and “Never Forget”.

After the concert, the band took to Twitter to confirm they have more plans up their sleeves writing, “It was incredible to perform live together again for the first time in 4 years and there is so much more to come. We’re back for good”.

Originally released in 2008 as a single from the group’s fifth studio album The Circus, “Greatest Day” has been given new life with the remix by Schulz and multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Calum Scott’s added vocals. The single released on the 5th May is the band’s first release since their Odyssey Greatest Hits album in 2018. Listen to the track below:

On the 15th June, Greatest Days, a British film based on the Take That jukebox musical of the same name, will be premiering in cinemas across the country.

“’Greatest Day’ is a special song for us – it was one of our biggest singles, and our 11th No.1,” the band said in a press release. “It’s been fantastic being in the studio working on the new version of the track with Calum and Robin, both such talented artists. With the movie Greatest Days coming out this summer we wanted to do something special with the title track and we were really excited that Calum and Robin agreed to be involved. They have been brilliant, and we’re really excited for everyone to hear it!”

Take That will headline British Summer Time in Hyde Park on the 1st July. The band shared their excitement over the concert: “We have incredible memories of playing there in 2016, and we can’t wait to see everyone in July”. The annual live event is usually held at London’s Hyde Park but this year sees the two-day event held in a new venue. Set to take place on 17th-18th September 2022, the global network’s beloved celebration of live music will be held at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park.

Leader of the Leeds City Council, Councillor James Lewis has given a statement concerning the event’s new home, “It’s hugely exciting to see such a star-studded line-up of world-class artists being announced and we can’t wait to see them in Leeds for what will be an incredible occasion for music lovers and for the city as a whole. It’s also a massive endorsement for Leeds and its growing reputation as the place to see some of the biggest names in music. Temple Newsam is the ideal stage for this kind of spectacular event too and we can’t wait to give these amazing acts a proper Leeds welcome.”

The impressive line-up announced by veteran DJ Zoe Ball reads like a who’s who of popular music, set to take the stage on Sunday are Melanie C and Mark Owen. Joining the Spice Girl and former Take That band member are George Ezra, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Emeli Sandé, Olly Murs and M People frontwoman Heather Small. Further legendary British artists are set to perform on Saturday, scheduled to perform on the event’s first day are Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, iconic girl group Bananarama, Ella Henderson, “Ruby” hitmakers Kaiser Chiefs, Craig David and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Concerning the upcoming event, Head of Music for Radio 2 Jeff Smith has given the following statement, “We’re so pleased to be announcing the stellar artist lineup for Radio 2 Live, as our annual event spreads its wings for the first time across the UK. This year we will be in Leeds with two days of incredible music from an amazing lineup of musicians. Having been without it for so long we all really appreciate how important live music is to all our lives and so we invite everyone to join us for Radio 2 Live in Leeds at Temple Newsam Park or to listen or watch our weekend via BBC Sounds or iPlayer.”

The annual event will be returning to a traditional live format this year after the COVID-19 pandemic forced previous years to be reconfigured to meet the then-established guidelines. In 2020 and 2021 the event was renamed BBC Radio 2 Live at Home and consisted of concerts held in Cardiff, Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow. Further details concerning the lineup are yet to be announced, BBC radio 2 have established that two more acts for both dates will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

For those unable to attend, the event will be broadcasted live across the BBC’s network stations. The live music extravaganza will also be made available to watch on-demand via BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. Take That have not released new music since 2017 and are hoping to impact the music world once again with new material. Take that were formed in Manchester in 1990 and were a five-piece band with frontman Gary Barlow OBE (Singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and television personality), Howard Paul Donald (Singer, songwriter, drummer, pianist, dancer and record producer), Robbie Williams (Singer and entertainer), Mark Owen (Singer and songwriter) and Jason Orange (Singer, dancer and actor)  who made up the band lineup.

The band achieved success with 12 UK number 1 hit singles, 28 top 40 singles, 17 top 5 singles and 8 UK number 1 albums in the UK Official Charts, with hit singles “It Only Takes a Minute”, “A Million Love Songs”, “Pray”, “Could It Be Magic”, “Relight My Fire”, “Babe”, “Never Forget Where You’re Coming From” and “Sure” from their many hits.

William’s left the group in 1995 to pursue his solo career and the remaining band members Barlow, Owen, Orange and Donald remained as a band until they disbanded in 1996. The quartet regrouped in 2005, went on tour in 2006 and released their first album for 11 years A Beautiful World. The album reached number 1 in the UK Official Album Charts and the band’s comeback single “Patience” from the album also provided them with a UK number 1 hit single.

The quartet became a trio when Orange decided to leave the group in 2014. Williams has reunited with the group throughout the years and the band have remained as a trio with Barlow, Owen and Donald now making up the group’s lineup. The trio went on to release studio albums III in 2014, Wonderland in 2017 and their greatest hits collection album Odyssey in 2018. Barlow is also a solo artist whilst remaining the band’s frontman and is set to release his first-ever solo Christmas album The Dream of Christmas on November 26th. The singer insists that although he is set to release his new album the band is his priority and said “It’s a different head I put on to be in Take That” “It’s my No1 thing”

The singer said that the band has not yet started recording any material and were unaware of the length of time that it would take them to return to the studio following their 2018 album Odyssey. Barlow in reminiscing of his time writing music with Owen and Donald said “I’d love to just sit in New York for two months and write with Mark and Howard”. “We wrote good songs together and that is always fun”

Both Owen and Donald have been quiet of late leaving frontman Barlow to fly the musical flag until their return to the studio next year. Barlow was set to embark on his Music Played By Humans Tour named after his 2020 solo album of the same name. The tour was postponed in June due to the Covid 19 Pandemic and the singer is now set to perform during his UK All The Hits Tour with 2006 X-Factor winner Leona Lewis as the singer’s special guest. Lewis announced recently that she is set to release her Christmas album Christmas With Love Always this Friday, November 19th.

The release of Barlow’s and Lewis’s Christmas albums will no doubt see them battle in the charts, for the Christmas number 1 album following their upcoming tour. Barlow’s All The Hits UK Tour kicks off the day after his Christmas album release, on November 27th in Belfast and ends in Newcastle on December 18th. Barlow has also been announced as head judge for the new upcoming show Walk The Line replacing Simon Cowell. Take That followers will have to wait a bit longer before hearing new material from the trio and can enjoy Barlow’s new music, tour and upcoming TV show until then.
