Madonna And Elton John Finally End Their Feud After Backstage Meet At SNL

Madonna and Elton John have finally ended their long running feud, after the two pop icons met each other backstage at Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The two pop icons have been in conflict since the early noughties when Elton criticized Madonna’s “Die Another Day”, the theme song for the James Bond film of the same name.

Madonna confirmed their reconciliation in a heartfelt Instagram post, where she spoke of the influence of his music in her younger years:

“Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to stand out – to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential.”

She also delved deeper into the disappointment the beef brought her: “Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it.” Madonna then gave details of their backstage encounter, saying that she was told Elton would be the nights musical guest and was compelled to see him: “I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, “Forgive Me” and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging. Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!!”” Elton then left some kind words in the comment section, paying his respects to Madonna’s music and impact: “Thank you for coming to see me at SNL. And thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth. I’m not proud of what I said. Particularly when I think about all the groundbreaking work you have done as an artist – paving the way for an entire generation of female artists to succeed and be true to themselves. You were also one of the very first people to rise up against HIV/AIDS in the 80’s, bringing love and compassion to so many who desperately needed it.” Brandi Carlile, who Elton was performing with at SNL, jested at the peace-making popstars: “Whatever happens to this country the gays won today folks” Fans were pleased to see the two pop titans bury the hatchet. The Elton John/Madonna beef has been going since 2004, when John said her theme tune for Die Another Day was the “worst Bond tune ever”.

After this, the ‘Rocket Man’ songwriter took aim at Madonna during the Q Awards, where she was nominated for Best Live Act. Insinuating that she performs with backing tracks, he asked the crowd “Since when has lip-synching been live?”, before asserting that “Anyone who lip syncs in public on stage when you pay £75 to see them should be shot.”

Years later, John criticized her again after she secured the Super Bowl halftime show in 2012. While interviewed on “Good Morning America”, he warned her to “make sure you lip-sync good.”

Later, he would talk to Australia’s Channel 7 about her controversial ‘MDNA’ tour, which came under fire for its graphic imagery, religious and political symbolism, late start times and lip-synching allegations: “Her tour is a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c—. If Madonna had any common sense, she would have made a record like ‘Ray of Light,’ stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and made great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no… And she looks like a fucking fairground stripper.

In a surprising turn of events, iconic rock figure Bruce Springsteen is currently in advanced talks with Glastonbury organisers to take the spotlight at the Pyramid Stage in 2024. Widely known for his electrifying performances, the 74-year-old legend is poised to join Coldplay and Dua Lipa as headliners, stepping in to fill the void left by the collapsed deal with Madonna.

Glastonbury ticket sales have been delayed by two weeks, much to festival-goers’ frustration. Glastonbury’s organisers shared their reasoning behind the decision, announcing that it was “out of fairness” to those who wish to attend the 2024 festival but had not realised that their registrations had expired.

This year’s Glastonbury ticket sale has been moved back by two weeks. This is to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket is registered and therefore eligible to purchase one.

Glastonbury have apologised for the late announcement as prospective ticket buyers were given minimal notice about the change in dates. Organisers issued a statement, saying “We apologise for the late change to the ticket sale dates, but we want to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket for next year’s festival is able to confirm their registration ahead of the sale.”

They also shared more behind their reasoning, saying “Unfortunately, it has come to light that some individuals hoping to buy tickets for 2024 have discovered after Monday’s registration deadline that they are no longer registered, despite believing they were.”

They continued, “Out of fairness to those individuals, we will be re-opening the window for registration at 12 noon on Monday, November 6. It will remain open until 5pm on Monday, November 13.” This decision has not been a popular one however, with many people sharing their frustration on social media.

One Twitter user shared her annoyance at cancelling her plans for the now delayed ticket sale, whilst another called it an “absolute joke.”

Madonna’s most passionate fans have expressed their disappointment following the premature conclusion of the London shows of her Celebration Tour due to a delayed start. The renowned 65-year-old vocalist was in the midst of her performance at the O2 Arena on Sunday evening when she abruptly ceased at 11pm, omitting four songs from her planned set list.

It is allegedly said that the show was shortened due to surpassing the venue’s curfew, which stipulates that events within the arena must conclude no later than 11pm from Monday to Saturday and no later than 10.30pm on Sundays.

Throughout the show, Madonna captivated the audience as she graced the stage adorned in satin lingerie and engaged in provocative movements alongside a troupe of bare-chested dancers. However, the performance came to an unexpected halt following the rendition of “Rain”, leaving disappointed fans bereft of the opportunity to hear “Like A Virgin”, “B***h I’m Madonna”, “Holiday,” and the concluding number, “Celebration”.

Disgruntled attendees took to Twitter, to express their frustration at feeling “disrespected” and “disappointed”.

Rumours circulated that the late start was due to alleged technically difficulties at the start of the show. During Madonnas first performance on Saturday night, Madonna herself told fans that the was a technical difficultly, making Sunday the second occasion for these alleged ‘technical difficulties’.

Madonna announced on stage by saying “Sorry about this, sometimes these things happen, there’s a problem with the sound so they’re pressing the reset button.” She went on to address her own health issues recently and told fans at the O2 “I didn’t think I was going to make it, neither did the Doctors. The angels were there and my children save me every time.”

Madonna reminisced about the challenges she faced during her early days in the music industry and in an effort to maintain the audience’s engagement, she expressed her enthusiasm and posed a question to the thousands in attendance, she said, “Am I imagining this? Oh my God, it is so good to be back London.” The popstar added “I’m pretty damned surprised that I made it this far and I mean that on so many levels. How did I make it this far? Because of you. I’m going to take a bit of credit too.”

Madonna also celebrated her daughter Lola’s birthday on the day of the opening night for her Celebration tour, were she had allegedly started late.

With two additional performances remaining, Madonna is scheduled to perform at the O2 Arena in London tonight, on October 17th and October 18th. Fans are eagerly anticipating her timely arrival and the complete execution of her set-list.

Influential megastar Madonna is set to begin her highly anticipated The Celebration Tour on Saturday at the O2 Arena, and fans are in for a treat. The Queen of Pop, who began her career in the 80s, will showcase her legendary career in a “documentary” style, according to her musical director.

Stuart Price, Madonna’s musical director and long-time friend, spoke to the BBC about the celebration. He said: “A greatest hit doesn’t have to be a song. It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video, or a statement. Madonna’s reputation is for being highly precise and highly rehearsed across all departments. When you look at a tour of this scale, it has so many moving parts, so many elements, that everything has to be highly fixed.”

Price, who worked with Madonna on her 2001 Drowned World Tour, praised the star for the icon she cemented herself as. He said: “There’s one thing that’s always dynamic, and that’s Madonna herself. Her personality is so strong, her interaction with the audience is so strong, that it creates opportunities for variation from night to night.”

Madonna, who last toured in the UK for her Madame X Tour in 2020, will see the “Hung Up” singer begin the celebration this Saturday, when she performs at a sold-out show at the O2 Arena in London. The icon will also be performing in the UK on Sunday, 17 October and 18 October before heading to Belgium. However, if fans missed out on these dates, they are in luck as the star will return to the UK for two more shows in early December.

It is clear that the public is thirsty for a blast from the past. Having been granted a promising Madonna worldwide tour by Live Nation this coming year, her fans have not been able to contain their excitement. The pre-sale tickets sold out almost instantly and an overwhelming demand has left the superstar with no other choice than to offer a few additional gigs in London, as part of her 35-city tour in North America and Europe, known as “The Celebration Tour“.

She was, originally, only going to perform at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, 14th October. However, those who didn’t make it in time to purchase an original ticket have been granted an additional chance to attend the boogie of their lives. It was clear that the one show was not going to do it for the hungry brits, and tickets flew unthinkably quickly when the second gig was announced for the following consecutive day on the Sunday, 15th October. There has been no other choice than to establish another four shows in The Big Smoke for the 17th, 18th of October, which have already sold out, and finally the 5th and 6th of December which will be going on sale on Wednesday, 1st February at 9 am.

Madonna’s “The Celebration Tour” is offering an artistic journey throughout the singer’s career to celebrate the four decades she has dedicated to the industry. She wishes to pay her respects to the city of New York, for it was the place where she officially began her career. Her stop at The Big Apple falls in mid-August at Madison Square Garden, where she will also be performing for two consecutive days due to high demand within the crowded town. The tour is set to kick off in mid-July in Vancouver and run through until the 1st of December to finally wrap up in Amsterdam.

Manic Street Preachers Unveil Studio Version of Madonna Cover

The band commenced the BBC Music Festival this year with a performance at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff, which marked the band’s very first appearance at the beloved Welsh venue. The group played a sixteen-song set, during which they performed the aforementioned Madonna tune, capturing the playful energy of the original with a few more crunchy guitar tones added in for good measure. “Borderline” was Madonna’s first Top 10 Billboard hit, and featured on her 1984 self-titled album.

Although a release date for the cover is yet to be announced, the band took to social media to post a clip, stating: “Enjoyed playing it live so much decided to record a studio version.” You can also view an HD video of their live cover of “Borderline” down below.

In other news, Manic Street preachers recently performed at a benefit concert for Ukraine, performing their 1998 tune “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”. The benefit show took place at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, in order to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Manic Street Preachers were formed in Blackwood, Wales in 1986, and currently consists of James Dean Bradfield on vocals and guitar, Sean Moore on drums and Nicky Wire on bass. The band signed a record deal with Damaged Goods Records in 1990 to record one E.P. entitled New Art Riot, which attracted a good deal of media attention. The band would later sign with Columbia Records, which led to the group working on their debut album Generation Terrorists, which was released in 1992, and consisted of eighteen songs lasting over seventy minutes. Speaking of the album retrospectively, Pitchfork writer Joe Tangari said that the record: “walked a weird line between agit-punk, cock rock, romantic melodicism and glam, and was so obviously patterned after the Clash’s London Calling that it was actually kind of cute.”

Manic Street Preachers will be performing live on a handful of occasions throughout the year, including some festival appearances such as Latitude in Henham Park, Suffolk and Y Not Festival in Pikehall, Derbyshire. The singer’s Madame X tour was scheduled for 12 dates in the UK at the London Palladium in February 2020. Madonna’s tours are known for being a musical extravaganza and her Madame X Tour is no different. The tour is the musician’s eleventh concert tour from her fourteenth studio album Madame X released on June 14th 2019.

Madonna Louise Ciccone, known as Madonna and dubbed the Queen of Pop, is an Italian-American singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and mother. The singer came to the attention of the music world with her self entitled debut album Madonna in 1983 and is known for her earlier popular hit singles “Lucky Star” (1983), “Holiday” (1983), “Material Girl” (1984), “Like A Virgin” (1984) and “Into The Groove” (1984) to name only a few.

The musician has sold over 300 million albums worldwide, has the most UK number-one singles for a female artist and is noted for being the best selling female recording artist of all time in the Guinness Book of Records. The singer’s Madame X tour was an all theatre tour, that ran for 75 dates from September 17th 2019 to March 8th 2020. The tour saw the musician perform in smaller venues for the first time since The Virgin Tour in 1985.

The musician explained during an interview with BBC News that her reasons for opting to perform in smaller venues, were due to her doing so many large scale tours and now wanting to connect directly with her audience. The singer’s tour was unfortunately plagued by an ongoing knee injury which features in the documentary and resulted in cancellations of tour dates to support her recovery. The tour ended three days earlier than planned due to the Covid 19 Pandemic on March 8th 2020. The Madame X documentary was directed by Ricardo Gomes and was filmed in Lisbon (Portugal).

The documentary details the singer’s life on the road during her tour and shows the singers alter ego, Madame X who dons an eye-patch. The musician said of her documentary “There was nothing between me and the crowd, and that was an incredible experience,” “I needed to document that — the process, the rehearsals, the show itself, what was in my mind, what inspires certain songs” The singer’s children feature in the documentary which showcases her performances with 48 dancers and an all-female Orquestra Batukadeiras.

The musician recently forged a partnership with Warner Music Group in August thus following in the footsteps of other musical artists. The partnership encompasses 17 studio albums including the singer’s recent albums “MDNA”, “Rebel Heart” and “Madame X”.

The musician’s Madame X Tour was named the highest-grossing theatre tour of all time and she has had a 40-year relationship with MTV following her early musical career success. The relationship was celebrated in September with this tweet.

The singer’s Madame X documentary in association with Paramount + will be shown tonight, October 8th at 10.00 pm on MTV UK ending the wait for the musician’s followers.
