Over 20 years since its initial release, never-before-seen footage of Amy Winehouse has now been unveiled to the public in a brand new lyric video for her 2003 single ‘In My Bed’. Posted on Winehouse’s official YouTube account earlier this week, the video features unused rushes and outtakes from the original 2004 video shoot that until now had never seen the light of day.

Shot by director Paul Gore, the fresh-faced 20-year-old Winehouse can be seen wandering the halls of a swanky, dimly lit hotel carrying a guitar case, which leads her to eventually join a band of musicians in a grand ballroom. The singer-songwriter is followed in a voyeuristic fashion throughout the hotel, with the lens peering at her through bannisters and capturing her laughing, posing and causing mischief in one of the bedrooms.

However, her famous beehive hairdo is nowhere to be seen as the clips predate her ‘Back to Black’ era. Instead, it captures her in the early days of her 2003 debut album ‘Frank’ for which she received an Ivor Novello award for achievements in songwriting. The album was re-released as a deluxe edition in 2008, and was reissued on vinyl in 2015 following the release of the documentary film about her life the same year, simply titled ‘Amy’.

A new biopic about Winehouse is also set to hit cinemas this April. Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the film ‘Back to Black’ will focus on her rambunctious relationship with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, and how it inspired her to write such a groundbreaking album. The first trailer hit the internet earlier this month to a heavy amount of criticism, with many fans left concerned that the portrayal on screen will not honour her in the way that she deserves.

There is a sense that Winehouse is being presented as a larger-than-life caricature, rather than the vulnerable, complex human being that she was. Others believe that her story should be laid to rest, and that any hardship and pain she suffered should no longer be profited from. Despite the controversy surrounding its release, the Winehouse camp are openly supporting it in its promotion, sharing the trailer across multiple social media channels.

More than a decade on since Winehouse’s tragic death, her presence and significance within music and pop culture is still as prevalent as ever. Last year marked the singer’s 40th birthday, with legendary producer and close friend of Amy, Mark Ronson, paying tribute to her in an Instagram post which featured clips of them working alongside each other in the studio. Her North London stomping ground, Camden, was also the centre of a series of one-off shows celebrating her life, including her original band performing a tribute gig at iconic music venue KOKO last month.

The Rolling Stones have released two new lyric videos for two of their songs, 1968s Jumpin’ Jack Flash and its B Side Child of The Moon.

Both tracks have been rereleased as singles on the same day as the videos are revealed, remastered by 12-time Grammy-award winning Bob Ludwig, and the videos designed by London creative design company Yes Please productions, who work primarily within the music industry.

Rolling Stoney quotes Yes Please Productions’ directors Tom Readdy and Lucy Dawkings, who said that “With ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ being among the greatest Rock ‘n Roll singles of all time we knew we had to create a visual that somehow matched the swagger and excitement of the track…With that guitar riff and Jagger’s exceptional searing vocal we set out to create animations that hit and emphasized every beat, guitar part and syllable sung.”

The Jumpin Jack Flash video features a simple red and black based colour palette with hand-sketched elements to create an ‘energetic visual’ which matches the song’s adrenaline, while the visual for Child of The Moon is designed with a swinging 60s aesthetic, with plenty of psychedelic-style flowers and trippy transitions, the lyrics appearing on screen as if growing there. The lyrics are written in the same typeface originally used on a 7” picture sleeve for the two songs back when they were originally released.

The classic Jumpin’ Jack Flash was a Mick Jagger and Keith Richards creation, the original recording produced at Olympic Studios in London and featuring all five members of the band, including Keither Richards on bass as well as lead guitar. Child of the Moon followed suit, also produced by Jimmy Miller at Olympic records and featuring Brian Jones on Saxophone.

You can buy stream the newly remastered singles on all good music platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, and you can watch the lyric videos here:

Skindred has released a new lyric video for their song It’s A Crime, thirteen years after it’s original release. The song is originally from a rare cut from the Japenese version of Roots Rock Riot but is now being released outside of Japan for the first time. The album will be available on April 23rd and can be pre-ordered here.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track in a press release, vocalist Benji Webbe explains, “I live in a neighbourhood (Newport, Wales) where back in the day, a lot of people were working hard and getting ripped off in life and then there are others who are just hustling and selling this and selling that. It’s just a crime that hardworking people don’t get what the thieves/criminals get.”

The track was only ever previously released on the Japanese version of the album, we are so happy it’s being included in the re-release. It was always a band and producer favourite.

If you haven’t yet ordered the upcoming reissue, you can do so here – https://t.co/3NFCZIqevY pic.twitter.com/nLVpFAHKrZ

Speaking about the track in a press release, Skindred drummer, Arya Goggin said; “It’s a Crime was written in 2006 in our basement studio below St Joseph’s Boxing club in Newport. It’s where all the writing for Roots Rock Riot took place. The only reason it didn’t make the album was because of how the album track listing flowed.”

It’s A Crime is from the album Roots Rock Riot, which is known as an important piece of Skindred’s history. The album was crafted in a boxing club and recorded in America. It was the record of their discography to feature what would become the permanent line-up of Benji, Arya, bassist Daniel Pugsley and guitarist Mikey Demus, it started its life as that difficult second album. What it became completely transcends that, bookending a difficult period of the band’s existence and boldly kicking down the door to the future of their illustrious career.

Available on vinyl for the first time as well as CD, the re-release of Roots Rock Riot features previously unheard music. As well as the complete tracklist of the original, the vinyl version of the record comes with an additional 7” containing two exclusive tracks: It’s A Crime and Struggle, which was never released at all. The CD release also contains both those tracks and an acoustic version of Destroy The Dance Floor.

We can’t wait to rock with you all in September/October. In the meantime, stay safe https://t.co/YwScnJ8PVP
