Fans of the Sheffield based band were eagerly awaiting the next few weeks, before beloved metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon’s next effort in the Post Human chapter was set to be released. Now, frontman Oli Sykes has had to dash expectations as he announced via social media that the band have had to postpone the release until sometime in the near future.

Sykes cited that the band has had to push back the release due to the album not quite achieving the lofty standards the band have for it, due to unforeseen circumstances. The singer acknowledged his fanbase’s patience over the setbacks the record has had and has promised them that the album will be released some time very soon.

The news will undoubtedly come as a disappointing surprise to Bring Me The Horizon’s legion of fans, but they will also indubitably take heart that the delay is only temporary and many will be pleased to hear that the band is unwilling to comprise on their music-only deciding to release the album when they are satisfied it is of the most perfect quality.

The disappointment will certainly be felt by the band as well, with Bring Me The Horizon enjoying a huge amount of success over the course of the year-the band’s relentless efforts culminating in a triumphantly successful headlining slot at this summer’s Download Festival, where the group began intensifying the marketing campaign for the new album.

Set to be the second instalment of four in the planned Post Human series, Bring Me The Horizon have already released two singles from the upcoming album, “Lost” and “Amen,” featuring guest spots by hip hop artist, Lil Uzi Vert and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw.

Sykes has often expressed his excitement over the new material, saying recently, “we’re definitely tapping into bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Glassjaw. There is not that much difference between a metalcore song and when you get into that world of like post-hardcore and stuff, but its more about the freeness and the kind of frantic energy of it, which was really fun to tap back into, because I always feel like even when we’re heavy, we’ve become quite a polished band. And it was very fun to kind of just throw all that out and just be, like, rough and ready again.”

Fans will be hoping Post Human: Nex Gen is not delayed too long but in the meantime, the band has released the finished version of the album’s cover art-shared by the band on social media accounts. Oli Sykes and co are enjoying what could arguably be the most prolific and successful year of their lives so far. Releasing two massive hit singles in “Lost” and “Amen”, the band also headlined the Download main stage on the festival’s second night-a performance that solidified the band as one of the most important rock acts in the scene today, silencing any remaining doubters they may have.

Shortly after, the band announced their new album, Post Human: Nex Gen, slated for a September release. But Bring Me the Horizon are not ready to rest on their laurels just yet and are aiming to keep the momentum up amongst the lofty heights the group have been elevated to over the past year. In quick succession, Bring Me the Horizon have announced collaborations on hip hop artist Lil Uzi Vert’s new album Pink Tape, appearing on song “Werewolf” and Corpse’s new single “Code Mistake”.

A collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert may not have come as a  surprise to many fans of the Sheffield five-piece- after the Philadelphia based rapper appeared on Bring Me the Horizon’s newest single “Amen”-but the rocking, very Bring Me the Horizon-esque “Werewolf” will make Lil Uzi Vert fans imagine that the hip hop artist definitely has a heavy metal side and one he is loving exploring.

Just last week, Bring Me the Horizon further stunned fans when American Youtube personality and musician Corpse Husband (simply stylised Corpse musically) dropped a single of his own, featuring the band. “Code Mistake” represents a collaboration that may have been in the works for quite a while now, with the Youtuber saying back in 2021, “what if I did a song with Bring Me the Horizon? That’d be crazy. That would be fucking wild right?” It appears crazier things are possible, as a Bring Me the Horizon/Corpse collaboration is now a reality.

There really is no telling where Bring Me the Horizon will pop up (unexpectedly) next but the fact that the purveyors of some of the most heavy music in recent years are featuring on such eclectic artist’s work is a notable sign of a significant sea change in the metal scene. Long a style of music that never quite emerged from the depths of the underground, acts like Bring Me the Horizon, Architects and Sleep Token have proven that there is a very healthy appetite for the more extreme tastes of the music palette.

Theakston, slightly baffled, asked him: “You knew we were having an interview this morning – why didn’t you take it any more seriously? Why are you just lying in bed naked?” Williams responded, “Because I think that people need to be more authentic when they do interviews and be more relaxed.”

The former Take That band member is busy promoting his latest single ‘Lost’ which is out now, ahead of the release of his 13th solo album XXV.  The latest single is “about the times in my life when I’ve abandoned myself to reckless behaviour” the star said on Twitter. The album celebrates 25 years of the Robbie’s solo career and features several of his number one singles all newly orchestrated by Jules Buckley, Guy Chambers and Steve Sidwell.“I put a lot of my favourite songs on the XXV album. Each one has a special place in my heart, so re-recording them with the orchestra has been a really exciting process,” he said.

Williams’ hasn’t only been busy creating this new album, in an interview with The Telegraph he said, “I’m also creating art. I’ve written a TV show. I’ve also designed my own clothing line. I’ve also created my own drink. I want to build a hotel. I want to create something big in business. What else? There’s loads. Talent competition. I wrote another musical. It’s just limitless and it’s endless…I’m going to be a very, very busy man.”

Robbie Williams is one of the UK’s most successful solo artists. He left Take That in 1995 and currently holds the record for the most BRIT Awards ever received with 18 statuettes.. He has had 13 number one albums and among the 100 best-selling albums in UK history, Robbie Williams features on six of them.

XXV will be available on streaming platforms on 9th September and standard and deluxe versions will be released on CD and vinyl. The new single, ‘Lost’ will feature on both standard and deluxe, with the deluxe edition also featuring three additional original tracks ‘Disco Symphony’, ‘More Than This’ and ‘The World And Her Mother’.

The producer has brilliantly executed his talent on the new track, which boasts an array of features – from synths and strings to bass. The strong funk elements that Swindle is known to produce are also evident, making the track perfect for the summer it has been released into.

In discussion of ‘Lost’ Swindle stated that “this song for me is about integrity and features artists who I feel have great amounts of it” and that “Kojey and I have worked together many times before and Loyle I have always been a big fan of. This is the first time they have ever been on a track together so it’s a great honour, with JNR Williams’ voice really tying it all together”.

It is no wonder that Swindle took to instagram to write “team work makes the dreamwork” when notifying followers about his new release. The fusion of Kojey Radical, Loyle Carner and Jnr Williams showcases the brilliance of some of the UK’s best on the music scene, not to mention the incredible lyricism from Loyle and Kojey. This lyricism is executed in the bars of both artists, as they exchange in words concerning success and loss. Along with the vibrant, jazzy production at the hands of Swindle, the track is tied together effortlessly, and is not one to miss.

‘Lost’ is Swindle’s first solo release since ‘No More Normal’ which came out back in 2019 and highlighted his fearlessness to intricately fuse genres such as grime and jazz. It is no doubt that his new release marks the return of this unique and effective production.
