This announcement follows the band the release of their fourth album ‘The Greatest Love’. The three members of the group have all had their own individual projects going on alongside being in the band with lead singer Hannah being a painter and writing her own solo songs, Dot being a DJ and releasing his own electronic music and Dan being a producer for other artists.

Speaking on their upcoming fourth album, singer Hannah Reid said “This album is probably the last time that we’ll appear in our music videos. I love the fact that I can walk down the street and nobody knows who I am – and yet we can fill huge spaces with people who love our music. We’ve worked really, really hard, and it has paid off.”

She also added that she hoped the group will “keep making music together until we’re old, wrinkly, and completely irrelevant. As long as we prioritise the art, there is no reason why we can’t go on for decades.”

The Indie pop trio have previewed the album with three singles so far titled ‘House’, ‘Kind Of Man’ and most recently ‘Into Gold’ which was released last month. ‘House’ was released with an accompanying video which you can watch below.

The band are just coming off the back of of an amazing headline performance of the Park stage at Glastonbury last weekend. They are also set to play at Latitude later this month.

The renowned Secret Garden Party, known for its extravagant atmosphere and creatively dressed attendees, is undergoing some changes this year. In an effort to prioritise meaningful interactions, “Head Gardener” Freddie Fellowes has decided to downsize the main event while introducing a smaller festival in August. This decision takes into account the rising cost of living and aims to create a more intimate experience for festival-goers.

After ‘Californian Soil’ hit number one, London Grammar decided to rework the tracks to create extensive, meditative mixes to share via Calm, a meditation app. Indeed, the band from Nottingham has shared new versions of the songs ‘All My Love’, ‘Californian Soil’ and ‘Lord It’s A Feeling’, with the length of these tracks ranging from 15 to 60 minutes. The mixes are available only through the Calm app from April 29th. The partnership was led by Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative in collaboration with Ministry of Sound.

London Grammar guitarist Dan Rothman opened up about meditation: ‘I was always a bad sleeper when I was young. I was scared of the dark, and constantly had nightmares. My anxiety around sleep lasted until my mid 20s. When I learnt about meditation and mindfulness it really helped me understand sleep and how to deal with those difficult moments when it evades me.’

Similarly, keyboardist and drummer Dot Major added: ‘I’ve been a perennial sufferer of sleepless nights since I can remember […]. Here is something to help you sleep, I’ve made sure there’s nothing jarring in there. Just cyclical rhythms and harmony that hopefully appeals to your senses in the most soporific way.’

‘Our users are continuously looking for music to help relax, unwind and focus, so it felt completely natural to collaborate with London Grammar on remixes from their new album.’ Courtney Phillips, head of Calm Music, said. ‘We really pushed the boundaries to create long, winding tracks that create space to find stillness, and we can’t wait to hear what our listeners think.’

Calm is starting to collaborate with Universal and their roster, providing ‘Sleep Remix Series’ featuring specifically re-arranged mixes of known pop songs designed to help the listeners fall asleep. They include collaborations with Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and more.

The band have proved that the third time is indeed a charm as their latest release is the band’s third studio album. The trio released ‘Californian Soil’ on 16th April 2021, the album was meant to be released on 12th February 2021 but due to unknown reasons, the release date was postponed. The release of the group’s third album has been a phenomenal success, the album outsold the rest of the other top-five chart contenders combined. The release also reached number one within the Official Vinyl chart and is currently making up a quarter of the total of Vinyl’s sold.

The group, consisting of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic ‘Dot’ Major, spoke with Officalcharts.com concerning their success.

“We are so thrilled that our album has gone to Number 1. Thank you so much to our amazing fans for all your support over the last ten years, it means so much to us. Thank you.”

The band’s chart-topping release has produced four singles, the title track ‘Baby it’s You’ was released on 29th August 2020 and reached number 80 within the charts. The album’s title track, ‘Californian Soil’ was released soon after, at the point of release Reid gave interviews stating that the album marked her taking control of her life and music, citing her bandmates with helping her beat misogyny she experienced within the music industry.

The group, which formed in Nottingham, are no stranger to chart success. Their debut album, ‘If You Wait’, released on 6th September 2013, was named the fifth top-selling album of 2014 and sired seven singles. The trio will soon embark on their UK tour which starts in November this year, but fans will get the opportunity to see the group sooner with performances at festivals and special events this summer. The official UK tour was previously sold out, but with extra dates added there is still time to see the chart-topping trio.

Lead singer Hannah Reid revealed in a recent interview with NME that she almost quit the “sexist and exploitative” music industry in 2019, and ‘Californian Soil’ is about gaining possession of her life. She said: “I was quite a feisty person in my teens, but somewhere along the line, I lost all of my confidence, I kind of lost my voice. And this album has given it back to me.” The album was recorded at band member Dan Rothman’s studio, and the track ‘How Does It Feel,’ was produced by Steve Mac, the man behind the production on Ed Sheeran’s 2017 hit single ‘Shape of You.’

The band had already dropped several singles from their third album prior to its release, including: ‘Californian Soil,’ ‘America,’ ‘Lose Your Head,’ and ‘Baby Its You.’ They performed their seventh track on the album ‘Baby Its You,’ last year on Later…With Jools Holland last year, it was also their first music release since 2017.

Forming at Nottingham University in 2009, the British band had released their debut album ‘If you Wait,’ before they had even graduated in 2013 and were ultimately discovered by a label in 2010 at a Camden Pub. The three-artist-band comprises Hannah Reid on Vocals, Dot Major on keyboard and drums, and Dan Rothman on guitar. Speaking on their name ‘London Grammar,’ they said: “not only was it where we’re from, but London is also so international and multicultural that it actually felt like quite a universal name in a way.”

The indie-pop trio will be performing ‘Californian Soil’ this Sunday on YouTube Music, which will be followed by a ‘premium-exclusive’ afterparty hosted by Greg James.

London Grammar are also heading out on tour this November, with all dates already sold out and they are also set to perform at London Victoria Park’s All Points East Festival, alongside Jorja Smith, Jamie XX, Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club.

You can listen to ‘Calfornian Soil’ now on all major streaming services and is available to buy from selected stores.

Hannah Reid, singer of the British band London Grammar, told Music Week how the sexism in the music industry almost forced her to quit her carrier. In this manner, London Grammar’s upcoming album, Californian Soil, touches upon both feminism and femininity. The band’s hopes are to see this body of work topping the charts as they did for ‘Truth is a Beautiful Thing’ in 2017 and their debut album ‘If You Wait’ in 2013, which hit No. 2 according to the Official Chart Company.

In the interview, the singer explained how she thought she was not fit for this kind of business: ‘When I entered the music industry it was a bit of a shock. I was dealing with so many micro-aggressions, sometimes on a daily basis, more sexism and misogyny than I had ever experienced before. I mean, of course I experienced the day-to-day crap that all women just have to put up with, but in the industry it was little things, small things, that actually added up to being quite a profound experience,” she added. “It was extremely difficult to stand up to, because a lot of the time it’s kind of invisible and you can’t prove it’s happening.’

‘I felt like a cash cow. Everything had to be done on men’s terms,’ she explained. ‘A big thing was not even being considered a musician’. However, she praised acts such as Billie Eilish, Lizzo and Miley Cyrus, explaining how they are encouraging her and many other women in the industry to be themselves: ‘I feel it’s really amazing that there are so many younger female artists who have really moved feminism on and I am now learning from women who are younger than me’.

London Grammar’s third album California Soil is coming out this Friday (April 16th). In November 2021 the band will embark on a sold-out UK tour, including their biggest show to date at London’s Alexandra Palace.

She said: “But ironically I kind of wrote it as a goodbye to all the songs that I thought I wouldn’t write because I wasn’t sure if I was really cut out for the [music] industry or… my own personal American dream”. Then she added: “So I remember writing that song, it just came out so quickly and I was crying at the piano and then I thought, you know, I’m just going to play it to the boys, but I don’t think I can make another album again.
