Former Little Mix member, Leigh-Anne Pinnock has stamped her approval on the idea of a collaboration between other former girl group members Normani and Manon Bannerman. Pinnock who performs under the pseudonym Leigh-Anne described the potential joining of forces as ‘fire’ in a trending fan video during promotions for her debut album ‘My Ego Told Me To’.

Leigh-Anne rose to fame as part of Little Mix winning The X-Factor UK. The group went on to achieve nineteen top ten singles and 3 Brit Awards and become the third best selling girl group of all time. Following the group’s hiatus in 2022, Leigh-Anne released several singles including ‘Don’t Say Love’, and ‘Burning Up’ as well as an extended play called ‘No Hard Feelings’. Her 15 track debut album ‘My Ego Told Me To’ was released on February 20th 2026 by Virgin Music.

During an interview with Gaydio, Leigh-Anne commented on the announcement of Manon’s departure from Katseye which was announced earlier this week. She reminisced on her difficult own experiences being a woman of colour in Little Mix and attributed it to ‘some kind of vicious cycle’ in the industry and urged the importance of community, stating ‘I feel like it’s really important that we all keep talking to each other and support each other’.

Leigh-Anne speaks on her recent support for Manon from KATSEYE: “I definitely feel like there is a lot to say. There is some kind of vicious cycle going on right now with Black girls in girl groups. We see it all the time, so I’m glad people are speaking about it and… pic.twitter.com/JdNzQ2syoq — JADE tea room (@JADEtearoom) February 26, 2026

Katseye released singed ‘Gnarly’, ‘Gabriela’ and ‘Gameboy’ and received widespread attention, swell as nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance earlier this year at the Grammy Awards. Formed through The Debut: Dream Academy, a reality competition the group will continue with members Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung in Manon’s absence.

Also mentioned in this discussion was Normani. Similarly to Little Mix, Fifth Harmony was formed on The X-Factor USA in 2012 and reached huge success with hits like ‘Boss’, ‘Worth It’ and ‘Work From Home’. Following the departure of Camila Cabello in 2016, and the group’s subsequent hiatus in 2018, Normani has continued her career, featuring on Dancing With The Stars and releasing her solo debut album ‘Dopamine’ in June 2024. She hasn’t since released any more music since.

Leigh-Anne is currently promoting ‘My Ego Told Me To’ which has charted in the top three in the United Kingdom. The accompanying ‘My Ego Told Me To Tour’ has also been announced to begin in April. The UK and Europe tour will see Leigh-Anne visit Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.

Little Mix’s JADE has been embracing her solo career during the girl group’s ongoing hiatus by promoting her newest track ‘IT Girl’ set to be released January 10. In an interview with the Independent, the South Shields singer teased what fans can expect from the single along with some reflections on X Factor, her rise to fame and her experiences with going solo.

After making her debut last July with ‘Angel of My Dreams’, which focuses on Jade’s love-hate relationship with the industry, the singer likens her new single ‘IT Girl’ as “’Angel of My Dreams’’ c**ty little sister”. The upcoming electro-pop tune is another nod to Jade’s experience in the industry, especially surrounding all the judgement and critiques that have shaped her artistry.

She revealed: “There’s still so much that people don’t know as me, so I was eager to surprise people, poke the bear a bit… I did feel anxious about pissing people off or any sort of backlash, but I have to write about what my experiences are – I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It is, you know, my reality”.

As the ‘Angel of My Dreams’ singer continues to cement her artistry as a soloist, it is evident she plans to establish herself as the next ‘IT girl’ of experimental pop. Thus far, listeners have encountered Jade’s creation of club anthems with ‘Angel of My Dreams’ and ‘Midnight Cowboy’ alongside ‘Fantasy’ a track with the funk and composition which feels reminiscent of Diana Ross and Donna Summer during their high.

Jade’s ongoing openness surrounding her rise to fame and relationship with the industry is considerably admirable. From having to develop such thick skin from a young age, Jade recalls after 14 years in the industry: “I don’t mind piping up or clapping back at people.”

This openness expands to her honesty on her bittersweet experience on the music-reality show The X Factor in 2011, which aired its final episode back in 2018. When delving into her emotions on the experience, she emphasised: “I don’t know anyone that’s come from that show and not had some sort of mental health issue on the back of it.”

She continued: “but also, even now, personally I’m conflicted criticising [it], because it changed my life. I was from a very normal working-class family up north, I had tried sending demos in to labels, I’d gigged all over, I was doing everything I could to make it, and I needed a show like that to give me a chance”.

When discussing her career regrets and what she would be doing differently as a soloist, Jade mentioned not speaking up about her heritage sooner. Prior to moving to London, her quarter Yemeni and quarter Egyptian heritage was never brought up, due to the big Arabic community in South Shields.

She recalls: “When I got put in the band and moved to London, all of a sudden everyone was asking where I was from… No one had really asked me that before, because people in my hometown just knew, so the idea of being racially ambiguous or white-passing was new to me. I thought, maybe it’s better this way, with me entering the industry… All I had seen was negative press about Muslim people, Arab people. I was scared to promote that”.

Now as a soloist, Jade is owning her heritage. In a recent cover of Chase & Status and Stormzy’s ‘BACKBONE’ with the BBC Live Lounge, Jade freestyled the rendition both speaking in Arabic and English about her heritage, as the oud drives the electronic elements from ‘BACKBONE’s’ original.

Jade’s concluded: “I’m so proud of my heritage now… I don’t think it’s ever too late to embrace who you are”.

As Jade continues to embrace her identity and experiences in the industry, ‘IT Girl’s’ arrival on January 10 will further cement the singer’s unique and compelling artistry.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, formerly of girl band Little Mix, has hinted that her debut solo album may be ready for release in 2024.

Appearing on Amazon Music’s +44 Podcast, Pinnock shared that, “Well, I mean, it’s definitely in the works. Yeah, to be honest, coming together quicker than I think anyone thought, which is good.” Listen to Leigh-Anne’s podcast episode here.

Pinnock released her debut solo single, “Don’t Say Love” back in June. Speaking on the influence behind the track, she said, “‘Don’t Say Love’ is about no longer seeking external validation and regaining my confidence and sense of self in a world where I often felt misunderstood and unheard. This video is a visual representation of me finding my voice. I’m excited to continue to do so with my first love, music.”

On the +44 Podcast, Pinnock discussed making the transition from being part of a successful girl group for over a decade to taking her first steps as a solo artist. She shared, “It’s incredible what Little Mix have done and what we’ve achieved, we’ve absolutely killed it. But now I am on my own and not all of the Little Mix fans are going to come along with me, I have to build a new fan base. Yeah, so I do feel like a new artist to some extent…”

Pinnock also shared, “It’s been a hard sort of transition. I remember, when we did ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ and when streaming started taking over and it really started coming in. I’m so old school, I’m trying to kind of get used to it I guess, but with social media and TikTok, that is such an important part of any campaign. We have to set time aside for that. Whereas before it’d be like oh, forget time, we’ll figure it out.”

Pinnock has also just released her second single, “My Love” featuring Ayra Starr which debuted at #32 on Billboard’s US Afrobeats Songs Chart.

The latest Mixer to enter the studio is Perrie Edwards. She’s been creating her solo debut in the studio working with songwriter Kamille, and producers Fred Again and Steve Mac. In an interview with OfficialCharts.com, Kamille gave fans an insight as to what they can expect from the singer.

Asked about Perrie’s solo sound she said “I couldn’t even pinpoint it, but just know it’s going to blow everyone’s minds.” “There’s so many things that they’re interested in, I couldn’t pinpoint it to one thing. The best thing right now is that we’re having fun discovering.” She also alluded to Perrie taking on a different sound to what she was used to when in Little Mix, “Hearing their voices on stuff you wouldn’t typically hear it on is just sending me.” she said, “It’s so, so exciting for me. Can you imagine, as someone who’s used to just one thing with them?”

Kamille has been regularly involved with Little Mix over the years and has built up a strong bond with the girls. She went on to say that Perrie was “worried and insecure” about having her vocals on a solo record without the sounds of her fellow bandmates, but Kamille assured fans that Edwards is “incredible. She doesn’t even know how good she is, and that’s one of the most beautiful things about Perrie; she’s so humble.”

Perrie Edwards shot to fame on the reality tv show, The X Factor. She was put into the girl group Little Mix alongside Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall. The group became one of the most successful acts in the history of the show achieving five number-one singles on the UK Singles Chart along with six studio albums, five of which have been certified Platinum. In 2021 they spent 100 combined weeks inside the top ten of the UK Singles Chart and became the first girl group to achieve such a feat.

Since going solo, the girls have maintained support for each other and promised fans that this isn’t the end for Little Mix, only a break. They plan on supporting each other’s solo endeavours until we get a Little Mix comeback. Perrie said “We’ve all said we will let each other know when we’re going to release so we don’t end up clashing in the charts. We’re rooting for each other, not competing against each other.”

Last month saw girl group Little Mix officially confirm their hiatus, since the break many members have been working on their new solo careers. Bandmember Leigh-Anne Pinnock is the latest from the group to break out on her own, the 30-year-old singer has revealed that she has been working with singer-songwriter RAYE in the studio. Pinnock announced their partnership via her social media channels after she re-shared a picture of the duo working in the studio during an Instagram story, RAYE also took to social media to confirm the singer’s partnership.

Otherwise known as Rachel Agatha Keen, the English artist first rose to fame for her work with megastar Beyonce. The pair co-wrote the single “Bigger” which featured on the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, the track was released in 2019 and later again 2020 when it was featured in the film Black Is King. During the same year, RAYE released her own debut album entitled Euphoric Sad Songs. The album sired five singles including “Secrets”, released in 2020 the track reached number 6 within the UK singles charts.

Earlier this year Pinnock was a victim of a leak, consequently her debut solo single “I Need You” was shared online against her will. The track was swiftly taken down by Warner Music and all recordings and links of the singer’s first solo material was removed. In replace of the clip a message from the owner was shown, serving as a notice of copyright claim it stated “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”

A source from The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column has revealed further information concerning Pinnock’s solo career, “This track is an extremely early demo. Bosses acted quickly and are determined to get to the bottom of how it appeared online because only a handful of people had heard it. They are taking it extremely seriously. Leigh-Anne is working hard to give fans the music they deserve.”

The column also reported that the singer has been working with Tayla Parx, the pair last teamed up for the hit “Sweet Melody” which Parx co-wrote for the group. It has also been revealed that the former Little Mix member is set on a new stage name, the singer has plans to remove her last name. It has also been reported that Pinnock has purchased a new domain, the singer is said to have bought Leigh-Anne.com which remains under construction.

Pinnock has also expressed an interest in the literary world, earlier this spring it was reported that the singer had been holding negotiations with publishers to obtain the rights to her memoir. The singer also previously confirmed that she has multiple projects including a book inspired by her documentary Race, Pop and Power. Broadcasted via BBC Three, the film followed the singer discussing her time in Little Mix and showed the singer’s personal journey to understand how her platform can be used to combat racism.

Little Mix’s farewell tour has already begun, with the trio playing in Belfast’s SSE Arena last night. Despite the bittersweet news that the band will be taking a break soon, there have been plenty of treats in store for fans, with seven songs being played live for the first time last night. Among them include tracks from their latest studio album Confetti (which this tour is in support of), as well as their 2021 greatest hits collection – Between Us.

Collaborations they’ve done with the likes of French DJ/producer David Guetta, Galantis and Nathan Dawe also received their first live treatment last night, with the songs “Heartbreak Anthem“ and “No Time for Tears“ being performed. Little Mix are here to stay“, noting that they have “plans for more music, tours and performances in the future …. We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other“. Despite this, Jesy Nelson (who left the group last year) has not rejoined for the tour, leaving the group as a trio made of Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

On the bright side, it doesn’t mean we won’t be hearing any music from them any time soon. Leaving to work on other projects, they’ve already had some success, with Thirlwall signing up to RCA Records recently and Pinnock joining Warner Records. Pinnock said that she was “so excited for what’s to come“.

It has been revealed that Jade Thirlwall has been working with Jax Jones. After Little Mix announced the recent news of their hiatus, Thirlwall has been in the studio working on her new solo material. Jones has confirmed that the pair had collaborated on a new track which is hoped to release.

The English producer is a celebrated figure within the music industry and is known for collaborations with many artists. The 34-year-old songwriter, DJ and producer first gained traction for his work on the number one single “I Got U” by Duke Dumont. Jones recently spoke with The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column concerning the exciting collaboration with Thirlwall; “Little Mix’s success is made up of all their individual talents, so I am sure they will all find a way to express themselves musically. I was in the studio with Jade and she is mega-cool and super-talented. She is also such fun to be around. We wrote something really cool so hopefully that can come out too.”

In a separate interview, Thirlwall discussed her plans to launch her solo career and described her songwriting process. The 29-year-old singer likened her technique to poetry and confirmed its beneficial elements. The former girl band member stated that verses in which she has already written serve as inspiration for her new material. Thirlwall went on to say, “The more writing I’m doing and the more I’ve delved into my love of poetry, I’ve noticed that now when I go into sessions I’ll come in with an existing poem that I’ve written and I’ll be like, ‘I want to turn this into a song’. I feel like that really works for me now and has made me a better writer.”

The singer went on to describe how her boyfriend improved her skills as a writer. Thirlwall recently went public with Jordan Stephens, the actor and musician who is best known for his work in Rizzle Kicks. She cited her improvement to Stephens’s influence and learning how to not separate songwriting and poetry. Thirwall discussed this with the Daily Star Newspaper, “When I wrote poetry, I always think it’s something I keep to myself and I never really present it to the world – I’m so conditioned to be a songwriter that writes pop music.

Since being the first group ever to win the now-defunct British singing competition The X Factor, Little Mix has had a career one can hardly call smooth. Constant media coverage on every aspect of their lives, and each member relentlessly being questioned on a regular basis have forced the group to go on an indefinite hiatus after working together for 10 years. To mark the occasion for fans, a multi-part documentary called “Little Mix – At Home” shows their history from the perspective of each of the founding members: Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Jesy Nelson, who departed from the group last year, does not feature in the documentary.

Part 1 has been released onto YouTube, with presumably more parts on the way in the not-so-distant future. Watch Little Mix – At Home Documentary (Part 1) below.

The video comes with a series of other segments and features that Little Mix has started to commemorate their previous 10 years together as a group. They have also started a timeline where fans can share stories, post pictures and videos and just generally reminisce about times they may have shared with the group or their music. Click here to check out the site where you can view the timeline so far, or contribute your own content for the group.

The group are set to begin their “Confetti” UK Tour in April of 2022. The tour will presumably be a ‘greatest hits tour, following the release of their greatest hits album Between Us November. The tour will begin in Belfast on April 9th 2022, and take them all through the UK to finish with 3 nights at London’s O2 Arena on 12th, 13th, and 14th May. See full ticket information here.

After the tour concludes, the group say fans should not worry. “We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay. We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.”

Kirsty Hillitt of BBC’s Newsbeat had this to say about the group’s hiatus, “I’m so, so gutted really. I love their music and I’m gutted we won’t be hearing it for a while, But coming from a personal level, I can completely understand the girls needing to recharge, they’ve grown so much in the last 10 years. They’ve got to have a dabble at other things.”

Although the group have confirmed a hiatus, they insist that this is not a breakup and that new music and tours are on the horizon. The band recently became a trio after the departure of ex-bandmate Jesy Nelson. Since Nelson’s departure at the end of last year, Little Mix has consisted of members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards.

The group were formed in 2011 with four members via the music competition TV show X Factor. Since their formation the band have charted in the top ten at least once a year and have become one of the world’s most successful girl groups. Their debut single “Cannonball” was released on 11th December 2011 and became the group’s first number one single. The band’s debut album DNA was released on 16th November 2012 and sired their second number one single “Wings“.

The “Black Magic” singers will start their break once their Confetti tour has concluded. The tour will see the trio play thirty-five shows across the UK including many sold-out dates. The tour is set to begin on 9th April 2022 with a sold-out performance in Belfast. The Confetti tour will conclude also with a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena. The string of live dates marks the group’s seventh concert tour and marks their first without Nelson. The UK tour is in support of their sixth studio album Confetti, the album was released on 6th November 2020 via RCA Records and was the last album to feature Nelson.

BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat spoke with fans of Little Mix to gauge how the news had been received. Ashton Braithwaite has been a long-standing fan since their genesis a decade ago. When giving his view, Braithwaite expressed support for the group, “I think most of us saw it coming anyway. Ever since Jesy left, we thought this would be the route that they took.”

Newsbeat also spoke with Kirsty Hillitt who voted for the group during their formative time on the music competition show, X-Factor. She also expressed an understanding viewpoint concerning the announced hiatus, “I’m so, so gutted really. I love their music and I’m gutted we won’t be hearing it from a while, But coming from a personal level, I can completely understand the girls needing to recharge, they’ve grown so much in the last 10 years. They’ve got to have a dabble at other things.”

The “Shout Out To My Ex” singers recently released their first official greatest hits album. Between Us was released on 12th November 2021 via RCA Records, the album aimed to celebrate the group’s decade of success and hits.
Deezer’s Global VP of Artist Relations, Nigel Harding as provided the following statement concerning the revelation, “It’s fantastic to see so many homegrown artists like Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa continue to shine both internationally and here in the UK. What really stands out is the enduring appeal of older material. The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ and Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’, both continue to dominate the charts more than 18 months after release. And it’s remarkable that Eminem remains as popular now as he was two decades ago”

The category of the top artist has been awarded to British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The “Shivers” singer topped the list as the number one streamed artist. Second and third places were taken by American rapper Eminem and The Weeknd. Following the pair was Dua Lipa, the British hitmaker who came in fourth as the service’s most-streamed artist. Fellow British act, Little Mix, also placed within the top 10 and closed off the list.

Dua Lipa not only charted within the top artist list but was also crowned as the top female artist within the streaming service. The “Don’t Start Now” singer beat out big names such as Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande to be the most streamed female artist. Little Mix also made an appearance within the top five and was announced as the fourth most female act streamed in 2021. The “Shout Out To My Ex” girl group also beat out American artists to reach the high position, Lady Gaga, Billie Elish and Rihanna charted behind Little Mix in streams.

Within the category for Top Track, Canadian artist The Weeknd won with his 2019 track “Blinding Lights”. The number one single was released from the 31-year-old singer’s fourth studio album After Hours. “Dance Money” by Tones and I placed in second place and was followed by “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran which charted at number three. British singer Harry Styles closed the top ten list with his single “Watermelon Sugar”.

The most streamed album was awarded to Olivia Rodrigo for her debut album Sour. The Weeknd also featured within this list, the singer’s double-platinum album After Hours followed in second place. Ed Sheeran’s 2021 album Divide was confirmed as the third most-streamed album within Deezer.

The platform awarded Ed Sheeran with another win; the singer won the Top Karaoke Song award with his number one single “Bad Habits”. Eurovision winners Måneskin filled both the second and third positions, the Italian rockers closed the top three with tracks “Beggin” and “I Wanna Be Your Slave”. American rapper Lil Nas X also charted twice in the category, “Industry Baby” landed at number six and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” placed at number ten.
