Currently, Gallagher’s yuletide track has claimed the #2 slot on the Official UK Charts, ensuring the Rock N Roll Star a strong spot in the running for the coveted top spot. The winner of the tight chart race will be announced next week. All You’re Dreaming Of has also done incredibly well in terms of physical copies, and is already the best selling vinyl single of 2020. 

Ever modest, Gallagher was quick to announce the success of All You’re Dreaming Of. Taking to his favourite social media platform, Gallagher tweeted earlier today (December 19th): “All You’re Dreaming Of is number 2 midweek UK charts c’mon you know, LG x.” Fans were certainly in agreement with Gallagher’s celebratory tweet, as the post received over 600 likes and 5000 retweets!

All You’re Dreaming Of was released on November 27th, kicking off the Christmas season with a strong, moving festive single. Since then, Gallagher performed the new track live on the Jonathan Ross show. Additionally, Gallagher included All You’re Dreaming Of as part of his Down By The River live stream, which saw Gallagher and his band sing some of the star’s biggest and best hits whilst floating down the River Thames on a giant barrage. 

In accordance with his new release, Gallagher also put out a Christmassy music video, which was directed by Anthony Byrne. The monochromatic video opens with a flurry of snow blowing across a cold, dark night. Before long, we see a trio of brass instrumentalists, and a piano playing itself.

The camera then pans to Gallagher, who stands alone in a large, empty home. Gallagher launches into the track’s opening verse in his signature Mancunian croon.  Gallagher sings: “Paint the night sky/While the morning waits/With a field of stars/To keep the dark at bay”

As the instruments swell, the memento builds, and the song reaches its Christmassy climax. Gallagher sings the chorus: “Oh what are you dreamin’ of?/Is it the kind of love/That’ll be there when the world is at its worst?/That’ll cover you in kisses unrehearsed?”

All proceeds from the release, vinyl or otherwise, will go directly to Action for Children UK. Established in 1869, Action for Children UK is a charity that focuses on the financial and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable children and their families.

All You’re Dreaming Of is out now.

All You’re Dreaming Of is certainly divergent from Gallagher’s usual stylings. The Rock N Roll star has ventured from his typical, guitar-heavy tracks to create an atmospheric, festive ballad, ballad highlighting his musical range. 

Gallagher, ever the humble artist, said of the new track: “All You’re Dreaming Of’ is an instant classic that is perfect for this time of year.” Which is not strictly untrue.

A swelling of strings and horns open the track, alluding to an old hymn. Then, a Beatles-like succession of piano chords play, until Gallagher serenades the backing track with his world-famous croon. Gallagher sings poetic lyrics that sound like that were taken from an old Christmas tale. Gallagher croons: “Paint the night sky/While the morning waits/With a field of stars/To keep the dark at bay.”

All You’re Dreaming Of is an unexpected offering from Gallagher, the track truly demonstrates a completely new side to the Britpop rocker. During the chorus, Gallagher asks rhetorical questions: “Oh what, are you dreaming of?/Is it the kind of love/That’ll be there when the world is at its worst?”

All You’re Dreaming Of co-writer Simon Aldred spoke out on the record and the inspiration behind it. Aldred explained that the pair agreed between them: “there weren’t enough songs of hope.”

Believe it or not, Gallagher’s Christmas themed release was not originally a festive song. Rather, it eventually turned out as one, as upon hearing it Gallagher could “see New York shop windows and snow outside.”According to Aldred, All You’re Dreaming Of “reminded Gallagher of being a kid at Christmas when life was normal.” As it turns out, All You’re Dreaming Of is a charitable single as well as a festive one. The entirety of the proceeds from downloads and streams will go to Action For Children.

Taking to Instagram, the star shared a short snippet of the song along with the cover art. In the post, Gallagher took the time to spread some positivity amongst his fandom. Gallagher said: “Considering the year we’ve all had, I hope this brings back some much-needed love and hope.”

Gallagher did not miss an opportunity to joke, however, as the singer wrote playfully: “Bing Cosby would have been proud.” Fans reacted ecstatically at the post, which has garnered a whopping 92,000 likes.

The release of All You’re Dreaming Of is paired with its respective lyric video, which Gallagher premiered on his official YouTube channel. The sweet lyric video features a series of sketched animations, featuring Gallagher’s sincere lyrics against a cartoon night sky. 

Gallagher shared the All You’re Dreaming Of video with his 323,000 YouTube subscribers. The lyric video was met excitedly by fans, receiving over 56,000 views. It can be watched in full here.
