British pop duo Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth of Let’s Eat Grandma have announced a 2022 UK tour with the added sweetener of a dreamy new single and video titled; “Levitation”. Check out the video down below:

“Levitation” is the last single to be taken from their third album Two Ribbons which is due to be released on April 29th 2022, having been pushed back due to delays of the Vinyl pressings. The song is an infectious tune that pops and bubbles with their typical joyous energy. A youthful and inventive call-back to the likes of Kate Bush and Pink Industry, with bright synth melodies and beautifully rendered vocal tones.

A member of the Norwich born band Rosa Walton delved into the inspiration for the track, saying; “It’s about feeling all over the place, escaping to your imagination and being in a disorientating and surreal mental state, which can be both scary and elevating somehow – everything feels more creative and things look brighter. You’re with someone you’re close to, trying to reach out and connect to them, and even though you’re both struggling, you’re able to find comfort in one another, and have an absurdly funny yet meaningful time together. You begin to see some hope in your future again after a time when you’d started to lose sight of that.”

Two Ribbons follows 2016’s I, Gemini and 2018’s I’m All Ears. Having racked up a devoted listenership and critical acclaim with featured hits such as; “Hot Pink”, “Donnie Darko”, “Falling Into Me” and “Hall of Mirrors”.

Hard Copies of Two Ribbons, as well as related merch, are available for pre-order here. The digital album can be purchased here.

Let’s Eat Grandma have also scheduled a UK headline tour at the end of this year. Commencing on October 6th 2022 in Cardiff. They are also due to play on the Sunrise Arena Stage at Latitude Festival 2022 with the likes of Foals, Little Simz, Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines D.C. and Kae Tempest, among many others.

Tickets to see Let’s Eat Grandma can be found here, with dates listed below;

Tour Dates:

The Norwich duo formed of Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth originally announced back in November that they’ll be releasing their third studio album, Two Ribbons through Transgressive Records on April 8th.

However, the album has now been delayed even further, until April 29th. The pair posted this statement on Twitter “Really sorry to announce that due to ongoing global vinyl delays we’ve had to move our album release date back to 29th April 2022. We’ve been singing CDs in the meantime.” Despite the somewhat disappointing news the duo also revealed in the post that more “new music” was “coming soon” which you can view below:

Back in January, the band released the latest single off Two Ribbons a synth-heavy track, ‘“Happy New Year”. According to Far Out Magazine Walton said she “wrote “Happy New Year” after a breakdown between us that lasted for a long period of time, to communicate to her (Hollingworth) how important she is to me and how our bond and care for each other goes much deeper than this difficult time, I used the setting of New Year as both an opportunity for reflection, looking back nostalgically through childhood memories that we shared, and to represent the beginning of a fresh chapter for us.”

She then continued “I’d been struggling to come to terms with the fact that our relationship had changed, but as the song and time progresses I come to accept that it couldn’t stay the way it was when we were kids forever and start to view it as a positive thing — because now we have been able to grow into our own individual selves.”

The release will follow on from their second studio album I’m All Ears which was released in June 2018 and won the Album of the Year at the Q Awards. You can view the full tracklisting from the new album below:

Reading and Leeds Festival have revealed that Transgressive Records will be celebrating their own 15th anniversary, at the festival, in August 2019. The celebrations will see the record label take over the Alternative Stage for a big late nigh bash, on Friday night, in Reading, and Saturday and Sunday, in Leeds.

Reading and Leeds Festival is known for its love of indie and there is no better place for Transgressive Records to celebrate their own 15th anniversary, than in the fields, at Little John’s Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, and at Bramham Park, near Wetherby, between Friday the 23rd of August to Sunday the 25th of August 2019.

The celebrations at Reading will see Radio One DJ Jack Saunders battle it out over the decks with Circa Waves (DJ Set) following their live performance earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Leeds, on Saturday night, will be treated to some late night hits from Mystery Jets, Let’s Eat Grandma and Steel Banglez, while on Sunday there’s Transgressive Soundsystem, plus a Beyonce vs Drake DJ party, hosted by Bless and Superhero DJs.

We’ve pushed the boat out this year, bringing Transgressive alumni Mystery Jets and Circa Waves along for the weekend, not to mention current stars Let’s Eat Grandma.

“We’ve also gone big on the Sunday, to ensure the party doesn’t slow down – Steel Banglez is one of the biggest pop crossover names of recent times and will keep things moving right until the bitter end. And what the hell, we’re also going to throw a Beyonce versus Drake set straight afterwards, just two sets of DJs and hosts/MC’s dishing out the biggest jams from their respective catalogues.

Scottish-based, Hidden Door festival has revealed its first wave of artists that will be performing at this year’s festival, featuring the likes of R&B star Ray BLK and Let’s Eat Grandma. The volunteer-run arts festival is returning this year to the historic Leith Theatre, with a stellar programme of music, visual and performing arts, from Thursday the 30th of May to Sunday he 2nd of June 2019. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.

The announcement comes after the future of the festival was called into question but, following the successful ‘Save Hidden Door’ fundraising campaign, which saw the community come together to raise £40k, which secured the festival’s future. Hidden Door will be running this year, with a shorter programme, with the view of returning in full for 2020.

Speaking about the festival, Creative Director of Hidden Door, David Martin, said: “Hidden Door wants to make a difference to Edinburgh – we want to play a part in making sure the people who live in this city have the chance to experience some of the very best, most exciting, and beautiful music of today, right on their doorstep, in a venue worthy of the city. That’s why we are putting on this weekender and continuing our work to make the Leith Theatre fulfil its potential.

“The music will be incredible, but Hidden Door is more than just a set of gigs. We are bringing together some of our favourite visual artists from the past five years to embellish and adorn the venue, and together with our incredible production team, we’ll be showing the Leith Theatre off in a more visually stunning and immersive way than ever before! This year, with the acts we have secured, coming to the Leith Theatre will be a truly sublime experience!”

Among the first wave of acts to be confirmed to be performing at the festival and joining headliner Ray BLK and Let’s Eat Grandma are The Honey Farm, Chuchoter, and DJ Sarra Wild. The following names are also on the bill and joining the already stellar line-up is George Fitzgerald, Nathan Fake, Maranta, Kelly Lee Owens, and Cigarettes After Sex.

The opening night of the festival, presented in partnership with The List, will be a dynamic line-up led by females, which is Hidden Door’s way of rebuking the gender imbalance in the UK festival scene. The bill will lead with R&B star Ray BLK, winner of the BBC Sound of 2017; experimental pop duo Let’s Eat Grandma, Scottish rhyme champions and hip-hop maestras The Honey Farm; Edinburgh’s own indie-electro pop dup Chuchoter; before closing with a set from OH141’s fearless leader DJ Sarra Wild.

Meanwhile, Friday will boast a seamless nine-hour programme of electronic music from 6pm to 3am, with a live house and techno set from BBC Radio 1 resident George Fitzgerald, as well as indie label Ninja Tune’s Nathan Fake, who will be playing into the early hours alongside Edinburgh electronic act Maranta and the great Kelly Lee Owens.

Speaking about the stellar programme, Editor in Chief at The List, Arusa Qureshi, said: “We are really pleased to be involved with Hidden Door again this year. As one of our top events in the city, being asked to programme the opening night has been an absolute pleasure and we’re very excited to share our line-up with everyone.

“The wonderful Ray BLK, who was the first unsigned winner of the BBC’s Sound Of competition, and experimental pop duo Let’s Eat Grandma will no doubt ensure that it’s an awesome party but we’re also so happy to have List favourites The Honey Farm, Chuchoter and Sarra Wild on the bill, along with various other surprises. We’re certain that this year’s Hidden Door will be the best yet.”

With the programme confirmed for Thursday, Friday and Sunday, organisers originally kept back news of Saturday’s nine hour marathon of music, but it has been confirmed that the Crystal Fighters will take to the stage of Saturday. Meanwhile, Sunday’s closing act will be the acclaimed American pop group Cigarettes After Sex, who shoot to fame with their hit ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’ and their 2017 debut album.

Hollingworth took to Twitter on Tuesday with a heartfelt post to announce the death of her partner, stating that despite cancelling their US tour dates, Let’s Eat Grandma still plan to take to the stage in Coachella “as a tribute to Billy and his memory”. She and fellow band member Rosa Walton were due to fly to the US on Saturday 30th March to begin their tour, after previously only cancelling their Washington show that was due to be taking place on 1st April.

Billy Clayton battled Ewing’s sarcoma for three years before his passing, and much like his girlfriend, he was also a talented musician; having had performed on the Inbetweeners stage at Latitude Festival in 2018. BBC Introducing in Norfolk had worked with Billy in his musical career, stating that they “were impressed by his originality and songwriting”. A benefit concert ‘Benefit for Billy’ was held in Norwich in 2018, raising more than three thousand pounds towards his two hundred thousand pounds goal to help treat this rare form of cancer. Billy was allowed out of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge to attend. Jenny described Billy as “not only my boyfriend but my best friend” and that she plans to bring Billy “spiritually and musically” with her to Coachella – a place where he had dreamed of performing himself.

Let’s Eat Grandma released their second studio album ‘I’m All Ears’ in 2018 which accumulated widespread acclaim quickly, and was named ‘Album of the Year’ at the Q Awards and climbed to twenty eighth in the UK album charts. The album was also given four stars on NME, who described it as “light years ahead of their debut”. ‘Hot Pink’ was the debut single for the album, released in January of 2018. The cancelled US tour consisted of 8 dates throughout early April, with Coachella being where the duo will perform for the first time since the tragedy, taking to the stage twice.
