All Points East is a music festival held annually in London, which typically takes place in Victoria Park. This year they have made an announcement that one of their main headliners, LCD Soundsystem, will be hosting an afterparty at the London nightclub, Moth, on Friday the 23rd of August.

All Points East started in 2018 and quickly became one of London’s most popular summer music events. The festival usually spans several days, offering a mix of live music performances from various genres, including rock, indie, electronic, and more. It features a lineup of both internationally renowned artists and emerging talent.

To give a backstory to the band, LCD Soundsystem are an American rock group known for its dance-punk sound, and was formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, New York. The band was founded by James Murphy, who is also the co-founder of the record label DFA Records. LCD Soundsystem quickly gained a following with their debut single Losing My Edge in 2002, which became an underground hit. They released their self-titled debut album in 2005, which included popular tracks like Daft Punk Is Playing at My House and Tribulations.

The band is known for blending elements of punk rock, electronic music, and dance music, and they have been influential in the indie music scene. LCD Soundsystem has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Sound of Silver (2007) and This Is Happening (2010). It is their unique blend of musical genres and sounds that make them an ideal band to perform at the festival.

This year LCD Soundsystem is headlining on Friday the 23rd, with other headlining acts spread across the other days of the festival, including Loyle Carne, Mitski, KAYTRANDA, Field Day, and The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cutie.

This is not the first time LCD Soundsystem has performed at All Points East. They performed when the festival first began in 2018, alongside The XX, and Björk.

The afterparty will be held at Moth Club, a venue based in Hackney with an interesting history. The Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTH), was first established in South Africa in 1927 as a brotherhood to help support fellow comrades in need. The Hackney headquarters opened in 1972, and was formerly the General Browning Club, a bar and events hall for ex-servicemen belonging to the Memorable Order of Tin Hats.

This unique venue with its blend of WWII paraphernalia and glittery dancehall decorations seems a fitting spot to house the late-night revellers and LCD Soundsystem fans.
