The newest single, follows October 2024 track ‘CHURCH’ and second single ‘BETTER’. ‘HURRICANE’ clocks in at just under four minutes, its tranquil opening mixed with Låplsey’s captivating, yet soft vocals create a profound tenderness as the singer delves into the omnipotent nature of love. As the track descends to its end, it’s burst of energy with vibrant instrumentation is a tasteful juxtaposition to its angelic opening, continuing to portray the multi-faceted nature of Fletcher during this album as ‘a hurricane’ and ‘a woman in love’.

Anticipating the release of the single, Låplsey posted a handwritten note on her Instagram which read: “A week today, HURRICANE lands on your shores. An omnipotent, unbridled love. Feared and revered. Pierce your flag into the ground to affirm. Love, to return. Love for the sake of free will. Love in protest. Love in chaos. Love in pieces. Love in peace. For I’m a hurricane, I’m a woman in love. This is my effigy.”

To celebrate the single, the ‘Station’ performer announced her highly anticipated tour for autumn this year. The singer will take the stage in multiple cities across the UK, including a show at Manchester’s iconic Gorilla and London’s Islington Assembly Hall. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Expressing her excitement for the tour, the alt-indie artist expressed: “The people have spoken, I’m off on a UK Tour. We’ve tried our best to go to as many cities as possible… the interest we’ve had has been insane.

“I can’t wait to till we dance together and  you cry over your ex in the middle of a sprung parquet floor and wave your sports bra like the crowd is your nation performing for you is the upmost privilege. Especially with my amazing band. I/you/we may perish, the vibes are too immaculate.”

As Låpsley shifts from dance-electronic music to alternative indie within her latest releases, fans await excitedly for the performer’s upcoming album ‘I’M A HURRICANCE, I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE’ and highly anticipated UK tour, to see the singer exhibit a new dimension of her artistry.

In the spirit of Pride Month this year, Låpsley (whose full name is Holly Lapsley Fletcher) has taken this perfect-timing opportunity to speak out about the coming to realisation of her own sexuality. The “Station” singer is no stranger to lending her voice about gender and its significant impact on society, just like her recent single “Womxn“, which she also referenced in her coming out statement.

The track is a brilliant cut from her highly acclaimed sophomore record ‘Through Water‘ released back in March 20 (via XL Recordings). Fletcher titled the song after the feminist movement aiming to include non-cisgender women with the term “womxn.” The singer also mentioned, on her past Instagram Story, the movement by students of Goldsmiths, University of London as another inspiration to name the track as such.

‘Through Water‘ has met with widespread positive reviews from many major music critics with the likes of The Guardian, who deemed the record “intensely poetic and powerful,” as well as Pitchfork who praised Fletcher’s songwriting skills. The LP also spawned another single “My Love Was Like the Rain“, which was included in the ‘These Elements‘ EP, an introduction to the full-length.

Elsewhere, Fletcher appeared in the line-up of The Glastonbury Experience, in which the festival uploaded footage of iconic live performance by numerous artists. The now 24-year-old singer performed there back in 2016; check out the videos via the BBC’s official site.

The video has over 1,000 views and shows a wonderful new side of the singer as she plays from home instead of in a studio as she normally would. Låpsley is shown playing her piano and singing live with no professional equipment, just a camera set up next to her.

Womxn already has over 1 million plays on Spotify, as well as on the music video which features Låpsley driving down country roads. The single was named the ‘Hottest Record In The World’ this month.

In a statement about the song, she wrote “I was 20 and in a pretty bad place when I wrote ‘Womxn’. It’s written hypothetically from a place in the future that was much more positive. It’s about having trust in the passage of time; about not knowing what to do right now but knowing that at some point you will know. And here we are in the future and I’m this stronger, more confident womxn, and I sing it and it’s my present”.

‘Through Water’ is Låpley’s second studio album and was released with her record label XL Recordings. The album received a great reception, deemed “poetic and powerful” by The Guardian, with fan favourite song ‘My Love Was Like The Rain’ breaking 2 million Spotify streams. It was released on 20th March 2020, four years after her debut album ‘Long Way Home’.

Låpsley’s career began in 2014 when she won GIT’s (Getintothis) One To Watch Award, gaining over half a million streams on SoundCloud. She went to on perform for BBC Introducing at Glastonbury, sign with XL Recordings, and release numerous EPs. Based in London, the artist is a singer, songwriter, producer and pianist and also runs her own radio show, ‘The Å List’, in which she shares her favourite music.

It has been over five years since the debut album Long Way Home. The songstress from Southport, Merseyside has finally returned to the music scene with the second studio album titled Through Water, which is set for the release in March.

“Womxn” is served as the first single taken from the album. The track entails the single’s emotional struggle during her hard times and how she came to empower herself with the strength of being a woman. Låpsley unravelled the story behind “Womxn” on her social media:

“I was 20 and in a pretty bad place when I wrote “Womxn”. It’s written hypothetically from a place in the future that was much more positive. The video of “Womxn” is, according to NME, directed by Jane Stockdale. The clip features cyclists Anneleen Bosma, Jenna Meth and Yewande Adesia venturing in the midst of a hailstorm while Låpsley is singing and dancing in the setting of the Yorkshire Moors. Holly Lapsley Fletcher, who goes by the stage name Låpsley, has eventually returned with new music and new tours. It has been over four years since the release of her acclaimed debut Long Way Home, and now the 23-year-old singer/songwriter is ready to put out a new EP titled These Elements. The EP includes four tracks that, according to the artist, are about “emotional love, physical desire, depression and self-worth. Everything I’ve gone through in the last four years is in these four songs.”

The first single “My Love Was Like the Rain” is the first taste off the upcoming EP. The song is filled upbeat alternative R&B vibe mixed with electronic sound, an impressive reminder of how chill and emotional Låpsley’s music is. The singer also reminisces the feeling of love and pain in the track, “Remember when you said / My love was like the rain / Not the sweet sound after the drought.”

Låpsley was nominated in BBC Sounds long list back in 2015, with many critics describing her as a female version of James Blake. Her first album Long Way Home debuted on number 32 on UK Albums Chart, spawning well-received singles such as “Hurt Me”, “Station”, and “Love Is Blind”. After this album, the Merseyside-raised singer took a hiatus for four years to “have time and isolation to be able ‘to create something that I thought was the truest version of myself'”, posted Låpsley on her Twitter before her comeback.

Recently, Låpsley appeared on BBC Radio 1 Future Sounds with Phil Taggart to discuss her new track “My Love Was Like the Rain”, which was also named Hottest Record in the Word by the show. To further promote her comeback, the These Elements EP will be released on December 6, and she will go on tour for four consecutive dates to four major cities in Europe.
