The annual spectacular, that is Capital’s Summertime Ball, will be returning to Wembley Stadium, on Saturday the 8th of June 2019. Among the names announced, this morning (May 01) was Rita Ora, Anne Marie, Sigala, Tom Walker, Jax Jones, and, Norwegian singer and BBC Sound of 2018 winner, Sigrid.

Sigrid has described playing the iconic London landmark, that is Wembley, as “insane”. Meanwhile, Speaking about her performance at the Summertime Ball, in June, Sigrid, said: “I’m going to love it. I probably should say that I have a masterplan but I think we’re going to run up and have fun and play our favourite songs.”

They will share the stage with the recently reunited US pop group the Jonas Brothers, with their appearance at the Summertime Ball marking their first UK show in ten years. The band recently dropped new track ‘Sucker’, taken from their forthcoming album, ‘Hippieness Begins’, which will be released the day before the Summertime Ball – Friday the 7th of June 2019.

The series of big reveals kicked off, on Monday (April 29), with the first six artists being revealed including Halsey – who won the Rising Star award at this year’s Global Awards. Among the other names announced, on Monday, were Mark Ronson, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ellie Goulding, and Khalid.

Six more acts will be revealed everyday of the week until the full line-up is revealed. Meanwhile, on Tueday (April 30), Roman Kemp revealed that Maroon 5; Jess Glynne; Ava Max; Lauv; Jonas Blue; and Mabel, will be heading the Summertime Ball, next month. It has been revealed that one final massive name will be revealed on Thursday, (May 02), morning’s show.

Today’s reveal comes after Capital announced, at the weekend, that they would be using billboards across the UK to reveal the acts that will be performing at this year’s Summertime Ball. They also revealed that they would be enlisting the help of listeners to reveal the acts that were on the billboards, by getting them to get in touch with the station, by sending in photos of the names displayed on the billboards.

Speaking about the series of big reveals, Founder & Executive President of Global, Ashley Tabor OBE, said: “Today we kicked off our massive reveal week on Capital Breakfast by announcing some of the world’s biggest artists for Capital’s Summertime Ball.

“We are especially excited to confirm the news that so many fans have been waiting for – the Jonas Brothers are returning to the UK and playing the Ball. We’re only just getting started and we can’t wait to reveal yet more huge acts for the UK’s hottest summer party on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp tomorrow morning!”

The ‘Location’ hitmaker will kick start his sting of four UK shows, in London, on the 17th of September 2019, before heading to Glasgow and Birmingham, concluding in Leeds, on the 22nd of September 2019. After concluding in Leeds, Khalid will continue on to Ireland where he will perform in Dublin, on the 24th of September 2019, and Belfast, on the 25th of September 2019.

The European leg of his tour kick starts earlier in September, in Hamburg, on the 9th of September 2019, before visiting Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, at which the UK leg of his tour begins, in London, on the 17th of September. After Completing his UK leg of the tour, the singer will continue on to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Oberhausen, Paris, Luxembourg, Zurich, finally concluding in Munich, on the 9th of October 2019.

The announcement comes after Khalid released his second studio album, ‘Free Spirit’, which was released on the 5th of April 2019. The record features lead single ‘Talk’, which Khalid premiered on Saturday Night Live, last month. Speaking about his album, ‘Free Spirit’, Khalid, said: “This album is the culmination of all of the growth and experiences I have gathered over the past two remarkable years. I have been in the studio pouring my soul and spirit to create a body of work that I hope speaks to each and every one of you.”

The release of ‘Free Spirit’ comes three years after Khalid’s 2017’s debut album, ‘American Teen’, which was certified platinum and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album. Khalid began writing his debut album, ‘American Teen’, when he was 17, at the tip of graduating high school, in Texas. Despite his young age, it was Khalid’s powerful vocal ability and impressive song-writing prowess, along with multiple chart topping hits like ‘Location’, and ‘Young Dumb & Broke’, that helped him shoot his way to the top. “I was so naive and young when I wrote ‘American Teen’. I thought I knew everything, but I knew nothing at all,” Khalid tells Billboard.

The now 21-year-old Khalid, has returned with an even more in-depth understanding of friendship and love on his sophomore album ‘Free Spirit’. “I’m at the point of understanding that I still know nothing at all on ‘Free Spirit’. I feel like the music right now that I’m writing is very self-reflective,” says Khalid, speaking about his progression from ‘American Teen’ to ‘Free Spirit’.

Although, he’s only 21-years-old Khalid has already accomplished so much, with two albums under his belt and multiple chart topping hits, including recently released single ‘Eastside’, which sees him collaborate with Benny Blanco, which made it to number 1 in the UK charts. Among his accomplishments are collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including Shawn Mendes, Calvin Harris, and Benny Blanco.

Music fans will have been unable to escape the album’s first track ‘Slide’, featuring Frank Ocean and Migos, as well as ‘Heatstroke’ With Young Thug, Pharrell, and Ariana Grande. Now, a new single has been teased along with the album’s announcement, which appears to feature Future and Khalid.

The rest of the album’s features include Travis Scott, Kehlani Katy Perry, Big Sean, John Legend, Schoolboy Q, D.R.A.M., Nicki Minaj, Lil Yachty, Jessie Reyez, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Snoop Dogg, in what is quite possibly the most guest-laden album of recent years.

There has been no confirmation as of yet as to whether there will be a Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2, or indeed if there is a Funk Wav Bounce anthology in the works, but the hype is already building, as Calvin Harris continues his one man mission to dominate the airwaves for the summer.
