They sealed the deal in a private ceremony just two days after the couple confirmed their engagement. Doherty shared a monochrome image of the newlyweds with the caption “30.09.21” and a love heart emoji.

Katia de Vidas is a keyboardist at Doherty’s band the Puta Madres. Doherty set up the band after The Libertines and Babyshambles. The couple got married in France at the Domaine Saint Clair hotel where they both lived for the last three years. Both bands – The Libertines and Puta Madres provided the music for the venue. Newly wedded Katia de Vida also shared an image on her Instagram with the caption “OUI”. 

Gary Powell, the Libertines bandmate shared an image of a wedding with a “So happy for peter and Katia” note.


Doherty ditched his bad boy lifestyle and has been “two-and-a-half years clean of heroin“. In the BBC Scotland programme ‘The Seven‘ he recently said: “I’m two-and-a-half years clean of heroin, which is a big deal for me. And yeah, I’m ticking along. I’m writing music, still writing music, yeah.”

Pete Doherty formed indie band The Libertines with Carl Barat in 1997. The band reached No 1 spot in UK Charts with their album Libertines in 2004, and No3 in their last one from 2015, Anthems For Doomed Youth. The band centred around the conflict between Doherty and Barat which became part of their music and also primarily due to Doherty’s drug problem.

Recently, Doherty who has done his time in a jail in the past, teamed up with prisoners to discuss rehab issues. He played at the opening of his exhibition ‘Peter Doherty v Berlinnie‘, “the first major exhibition exploring prison reform, rehabilitation and redemption between Scottish prisoners and The Libertines frontman”. The opening took place on the 22nd of September and the inmates showed 11 drawings alongside Doherty’s art. The art has been chosen by the artists and the curator Joe Henry.

“I’ve always been a fan of Pete Doherty. His poetry and his music have influenced a generation. His artwork has the same chaotic punk energy of his sound and is similar in style to the art of Jean Michel Basquiat” commented Henry.

One of the prisoners and artists said of his piece where he painted Doherty holding a blood dripping mic: “The mic is sparking as what Pete says has an impact on people, for good or bad! What I’ve done has affected people, both good and bad.”
