The band wrote in the album’s announcement on their Instagram page, “ACT III pulls from every Kasabian album we’ve made. The highs, the lows, the chaos and the beauty,” prepping fans for an all encompassing journey come July.

‘Great Pretender’ serves as the second single, with ‘Hippy Sunshine’ released last year. NME spoke with lead vocalist, Serge Pizzorno, saying he “[used] his ‘imposter syndrome’ to as a frontman to his advantage.” Pizzorno said he sees “imposter syndrome […] not as a weakness, but as a sign you’re on the edge of something real.” Going deeper he explained “the moment before you go on stage, that ‘now or never feeling’” as “an interesting place to be.” He seeks to normalize the feeling on the song, saying to NME, “On some level, even the greats, we’re all just blagging it. Everyone feels exactly the same, even the best to have ever done it.” And Pizzorno is grateful for the discomfort, acknowledging that “being out of your depth is great because playing it safe is not the one.”

Backed by this inspiration, Pizzorno said writing the song came easily: “‘Great Pretender’ was one of those mornings where the guitar was there and this song literally happened in 10 minutes. They’re few and far between but they’re amazing when they happen.” The single was teased five days ahead of the release with a video from the studio of Pizzorno playing the guitar melody.

The song features a steady anthemic guitar made for crowds to bang their heads along with. The singer said of it, “I just thought, ‘Let’s make a proper f**king guitar track for people to get together’.
Next summer the Leicester born band will take to the legendary Finsbury Park, for what they are calling ‘the party of our lives.’

On Sunday afternoon Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno uploaded a cryptic video to the band’s social media, sending the fanbase into a torturous plunge of suspense.

Pizzorno, 44, videoed himself outside The Finsbury pub, in the video he sarcastically reminisces on the band’s old days, when they were busking in pubs to intimate crowds.

He said: “You know what, I love an old boozer, especially to play gigs in, the best of times (they were)… can’t imagine doing something like that again though”

Less than a day later, it was announced that tickets would be going on sale this friday, for up to 50,000 fans to get their hands on.

Until last week it’d been pretty much radio silence from the band since they closed Tramlines Festival in Sheffield at the end of July. Except for an underwhelming introduction for Sky Sports’ Premier league season.

The silence ceased with teasers for their new single ‘Hippie Sunshine’ hitting social media. The band describe the song as:

“The restless energy of hyper individuals who struggle to slow down and face reality, searching instead for the illusion of escape. It captures the passing moment where everything feels light and limitless, yet beneath it lies a deep sense of disconnection, something both beautiful and tragic.”

The lineup for the Finsbury Park event which will take place on July 4 2026 was also released. Kasabian will be supported by:

Louis Dunford

Razorlight

The K’s

Kasabian have reunited with Sky Sports to provide the anthem for the 2025/26 Premier League season. Sky Sports confirmed that a new version of the band’s track ‘G.O.A.T’, now featuring South London singer Cristale, will serve as the soundtrack to its football coverage.

The original song appeared on Kasabian’s 2024 album ‘Happenings’, but has since been reworked and remixed to fit its new role as the season’s anthem. Released on August 14 across streaming platforms, the track made its live debut at Anfield during the Liverpool v Bournemouth fixture on August 15, where fans heard the reimagined single played in the stadium ahead of kick-off.

Frontman Serge Pizzorno described the collaboration as an energising new chapter for the song. “It was electric teaming up with the incredibly talented Cristale on this track,” he said. “G.O.A.T is all about self-belief and chasing your dreams with everything you’ve got. We’re proud of what this song stands for. This one’s for everyone out there reaching for more, on and off the pitch.”

Cristale, widely tipped as one of the UK’s most exciting new voices in rap, adds her distinctive style to the single, giving it a sharper, more contemporary edge while maintaining Kasabian’s trademark high-energy sound. She has been making music since she was 19 and has quickly developed a strong fan base. She is most known for her track ‘Roadents’. Her involvement also underscores Sky Sports’ push to capture the spirit of the new season with music that resonates with both players and fans.

Sky Sports’ Director of Football Gary Hughes highlighted the importance of music in shaping the atmosphere of the coverage. “Music has played a major part in Sky’s football coverage since the very start,” he said. “It sets the tone and welcomes fans in. We have a long-standing relationship with the band and Club Foot is one of the most recognisable tracks we’ve used, so to be working with Kasabian again is fantastic. It’s the start of our biggest season yet with the Premier League and we feel this the perfect song to kick start it.”

‘Club Foot’, one of Kasabian’s early singles, was first used by Sky Sports as the theme for the 2009/10 season and has since become a fixture of football culture, later featuring in the FIFA 13 soundtrack. Its enduring association with the game reflects the band’s deep connection with the sport, not least through their own ties to their hometown club, Leicester City.

For Kasabian, whose mix of anthemic rock and electronic influences has earned them a reputation as one of the UK’s most dynamic live acts, ‘G.O.A.T’ marks another entry into football’s long tradition of memorable soundtracks. With Cristale’s contribution bringing fresh energy, the track looks set to become a defining part of the new Premier League season.

The singer, songwriter and record producer has been a driving force behind the band’s incredible success, which includes seven UK number one albums, placing them as an iconic elite group alongside other bands such as Blur, Muse and The Prodigy.

Pizzorno also delivered a speech to the graduating class, saying: “I’d like to give a huge thank you to the university for this incredible honour, and all of you graduating today, nice one, let’s have a round of applause for you all. I encourage you to embrace the scary stuff, because that’s where the magic lives. Play with ideas, play with failure, play like it matters and sometimes play like it doesn’t. When you find something you love, pursue it with everything you’ve got.”

The city of Leicester is quite special to the band as that is where the members met, south of the city, at schools in Countesthorpe. The band’s 27-year tenure has seen countless highlights, including a headline slot at Glastonbury in 2014 and memorable performances at Victoria Park, near the University Campus but also, notably celebrating Leicester City FC’s Premier League title in 2016 with a show.

On top of being a key member to Kasabian, Pizzorno has had a massive creative input in the music industry, composing for films like London Boulevard in 2010, collaborating with famous comedian Noel Fielding on Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy as part of the project Loose Tapestries, and releasing a solo album called ‘THE S.L.P’ in 2019.

University President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nishan Canagarajah praised the singer’s impact: “This homegrown talent has not only delivered his iconic brand of music to vast audiences worldwide but here too in Victoria Park – helping Leicester celebrate huge moments of joy through our local football team and adding to the fantastic vibrancy of our multi-cultural city. Sergio has undoubtedly helped put the city of Leicester on the map and this accolade today is our way of acknowledging this and our sense of pride in his achievements.”

The singer told the BBC it was “mad” that after nearly 20 years they were still able to go out and perform in front of thousands of people all over the world. “Usually you’re on your way out 20 years in, everyone’s kind of going ‘oh thanks, move along’, but it’s kind of getting bigger and better than ever,” he said. Asked if he had any advice for those graduating today, he said: “Just try and enjoy life because it goes like that. “So don’t sweat the big stuff, the small stuff – just enjoy it.”

This announcement follows both the Streets and Kasabian playing at Glastonbury festival last weekend. Skinner was full of energy throughout the performance, walking through the crowd and crowd surfing at points.

Iconic 00s rock band Kasabian were revealed to be the secret set on Glastonbury’s Woodsies stage this year. The Woodsies stage escalated and transposed many acts and genres this year including, as described on the Glastonbury website, ‘indie rock and pop, Irish rap, punk and metal to chart music and plenty more to get you dancing’.

The Woodsies stage was previously know as the ‘John Peel’ stage up until 2023 when it was changed to reflect the field in which it is found like many of the other venues that make up Glastonbury. The stage gained its previous name in 2004 after the passing of influential radio DJ ‘John peel’ in that same year. When the change was made Co-organiser Emily Eavis told the Guardian it would take on its current name ‘Woodsies’ ‘as part of a push to name stages after the fields they are located in, such as West Holts and Silver Hayes.’

The iconic stage hosted an exciting array of artists this year with headline sets from Gossip and Jamie xx and James Blake who closed the stage on Sunday night. The stage also sported peformances from Sampha, Arlo Parks, Declan Mckenna, Remi Wolf, Soccer Mommy, The Vaccines

The set was confirmed by the band via an Instagram post on the morning of the performance. This has been the group’s first appearance at the festival since 2014 and according to a review by the Guardian the Woodsies tent was ‘the busiest it has been since the Killers played their own secret set here in 2017. Not just the tent but the whole field is full, with most attendees only able to follow the gig by craning their necks to look at a screen.’

Notorious for being ahead of the curve, the @secretglasto twitter account had the news first, confirming the bands attendance after releasing a series of cryptic tweets teasing the bands attendance.

Despite the opinion that, as written by the Guardian, the group are supposedly ‘firmly on the slide in 2024′ after the withdrawal of previous member Tom Meighan due to his conviction for assaulting his partner in 2020 which you can read about in an article by the BBC, it seems that the secret show was a massive hit amongst attendees with fans flocking to the venue. The team behind the @secretglasto account, which is no way affiliated with the festival, released a post letting fans and those hopeful to catch the group know that the access to the stage was closed half an hour before Kasabian were due to perform at 6:00 pm.

Though some festival goers felt disappointed, as many speculated that American rock icons Kings of Leon would be taking the stage at some point this weekend, spirits were still at their zenith with critics and fans alike all agreeing that Kasabian were ‘outstanding’ and it seems the band felt it too with guitarist Segio Pizzorno telling the crowd that “This is one of the greatest days in this band’s history” as they played the festival a whole 20 years after their Glastonbury debut.

The release date of Happenings will coincide with and come a day before a huge show at Leicester’s Victoria Park entitled Summer Solace II, the sequel to their original homecoming gig Summer Solace that came back in 2014. And if their new single is anything to go by, Summer Solace II will combine super energetic dance music with the classic Kasabian indie rock sound their fans know and love.

Watch the music video for “Call” below:

Speaking to NME on the creation of “Call“, frontman Serge Pizzorno says of the song, “It’s really quite funky at the start, then it goes floaty and takes you somewhere else. It still bangs, but you’re like, ‘Holy shit, now I’m floating away’. In a really short space of time, it takes you a journey which is really fucking cool.”

And alluding to playing the track in a live setting, he adds, “It’s such a unique tune. At the start of an album campaign, to have something that can only be Kasabian is important. I don’t really know what is, but I do feel like it just has those drops that will just go off in a live environment. Let’s start the year with a tune that gets everyone excited for the summer.”

Kasabian formed in 1997 in Leicester, releasing their debut self-titled album Kasabian in 2004. This first album peaked at number 5 in the UK Albums Chart, and remains the only album released by the band to not reach number 1 in the UK. The band released a further 6 albums before lead vocalist left the band in July 2020, with Sergio Pizzorno taking up frontman duties ever since. The group’s most recent and seventh album, The Alchemist’s Euphoria, came in 2022.

The renowned Secret Garden Party, known for its extravagant atmosphere and creatively dressed attendees, is undergoing some changes this year.

Kasabian has announced an exciting homecoming show for their fans. The renowned indie rock group, comprised of Serge Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews, and Tim Carter, is well-known for delivering unforgettable performances, and their upcoming homecoming show will be no exception. In addition to this exciting news, the band has also confirmed that their highly anticipated album, Happenings, will be released next summer.

Dubbed as Summer Solstice II, Serge and his bandmates will grace the stage at Leicester’s Victoria Park, captivating an audience of 38,000 music enthusiasts. This marks their return to the public space in their hometown after a decade since their last headline performance. The announcement has sent fans into a frenzy, with social media buzzing with excitement.

Following the tremendous success of their previous album, The Alchemist’s Euphoria, which reached Number One last summer, there are no indications that Kasabian will be slowing down anytime soon.

An electric show is not the only thing that fans can expect from the Kasabian lads. They have also announced that the Kaiser Chiefs will be joining them as a support act, with more acts to be announced later. Although their last headline performance at Victoria Park was ten years ago, the rockers performed a secret set at the venue in 2016 to celebrate Leicester City winning the Premier League.

Serge, speaking about the show, expressed the significance of creating lasting memories and experiences. He emphasized the impact of witnessing such an event in one’s hometown, with the sound, noise, and music etching unforgettable memories in one’s mind. Serge believes that these memories are what people carry with them when reflecting on their lives. He emphasised the importance of attending the gig, stating that it is an experience that cannot be missed. He said, “Seeing something like this in your hometown, you know – the sound, the noise, the music – those memories, that’s what you take with you when you look back on your life and it’s like, you’ve gotta be there, you can’t miss it, you can’t let this happen and not be at that gig, you know? It’s creating those moments and doing it where you’re from and inspiring the next wave, hopefully, of young kids in Leicester seeing it happen and then them starting a band, that’s kind of what it’s all about.”

Chris, on the other hand, highlighted the significance of this show being a decade after their first one. He expressed that it has always been their desire to do it again and to give back to the city. As there is no large arena in Leicester, this show serves as their arena, where big shows happen. Chris considers it a privilege to be able to perform in their hometown once more. He said,“It’s 10 years after the first one, it’s something we’ve always wanted to do again, and it’s something that we can give back to the city. There’s no big arena in Leicester, so this is our arena. This is where the big shows happen. And so to be able to do it again is just a privilege.”

The fan pre-sale will begin at 9.30am on December 7, followed by the general sale on Friday, December 8 at 9.30. You can find tickets here.

The rock duo Royal Blood are headlining after the surprise release of a new single “Honeybrains” in March, and with rumours circulating of a new album. They are playing in between other festivals, supporting Muse on select dates for their world tour, and their own tour dates. They tweeted about their headline slot:

They keep on coming. We’ll be headlining @ynotfestival in July. It’s time to roll with the rockers so we can rock with the rollers. https://t.co/u90sdSXlLH pic.twitter.com/vZFrfSGshc

Alongside them are rock band Kasabian, playing the festival after the success of their seventh album The Alchemist’s Euphoria last year. The band sold out their last UK tour in the winter, with fellow YNOT-performers The Lathums as support.

Liverpudlian indie rock band The Wombats will also be returning to headline the festival. The band formed in 2003, and achieved their first UK number one album last year, with Fix Yourself, Not The World. The festival announced their return on Instagram below, saying “In a few months’ time we’ll be chilling in the fields listening to The Wombats boys do what they do best. Who’s excited for this one??”

Pop sensation Maisie Peters is also set to perform after a gigantic fews years supporting Ed Sheeran on his world tour, performing her own sold out tour over the past few months, and after the release of her second album The Good Witch, which will be out on June 16th 2023.

It is the festivals 16th year, since its creation in 2005. Their website says “Starting life as a house party in 2005, our party spilt over into a festival in some of the most stunning countryside around. Some 14 years on, we still have the same ethos at heart – Enjoy amazing music, great food and carefree fun in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.”
