The New York trio have been on something of a rare run of summer festivals this year, including a revered set at London’s All Points East festival. Now, Karen has spoken to Matt Wilkinson on Beats 1 Radio, to reveal that the band are anticipating returning to the studio, for the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Mosquito.

When asked about whether the band were ‘feeling the pull’ to get back to recording, Karen responded “Yeah, think so! The guys for the most part, I think they’re waiting on my just ‘getting struck by inspiration’ for it, y’know?

“A lot has changed in my life in the last 5 years and I’m just kinda waiting for the inspiration to hit me – and then we’ll go.

She continued: “I just feel like I’ve never really ‘pushed it’, just kinda waited for it to really feel like this overwhelming…”

The vocalist also confirmed that she had been working on her own solo material once again, which arguably most famously came to fruition with a collaboration with Nine Inch Nails kingpin Trent Reznor, for a cover of led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’, for David Fincher’s 2012, English language adaptation of Stieg Larson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Karen revealed that a solo work would potentially be coming “early next year,” elaborating that “It’s like a collab with a producer so, yeah. It’s finished, we’re just kinda developing [it], like pre-production with the way we’re gonna roll it out, […] I’ll probably play some special gigs you know but probably not a world tour!
