<p><script src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" async="" charset="utf-8"></script><strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">This announcement comes in the wake of a series of </span><a title="Little Simz Teases New EP" href="http://www.mxdwn.co.uk/news/little-simz-teases-new-ep/" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">posts that had teased its release</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, followed by a lengthy statement in which Simz detailed the toll of living and working by herself. “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">I don’t mind being alone</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">” the statement began, “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">however choosing to be alone is different from being forced</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">”.</span></strong>   </p>

<p><strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">The stark black and blue artwork, in which a hand tentatively dangles a ball, was created by long-time Simz collaborator </span><a href="https://vimeo.com/jeremycole" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jeremy Cole</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. As well as being credited with several music videos for Scottish hip hop outfit Young Fathers, the London-based filmmaker directed the videos for “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Selfish</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">”, “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Boss</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">”, and “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Age 101</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">” taken from Simz’s breakthrough album </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">GREY Area.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Despite her appearance as a guest on several tracks over the last few months, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drop 6</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> will be the British Rapper’s first original music since March 2019.</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As no tracks have been released in their entirety, the only other inkling we’ve got of what </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drop 6</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> sounds like comes from a short video Simz posted last week, in which she goes over some new lyrics whilst driving. If you’re desperate to hear new material, the good news is you won’t be waiting too long; </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drop 6</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> will be available for streaming and purchase on the 6th of May via Age 101. Watch the Simz debut a couple of new verses in her car below:</span></p>
