J Hus has announced a show in London to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his second album, ‘Big Conspiracy’.

Today, the rapper shared details of a “one-night-only” concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London to commemorate five years since the release of his sophomore effort. The concert will take place on Tuesday, June 17.

— J Hus (@jhus) May 28, 2025

A press release promised that the upcoming gig will bring the “genre-defining sound of ‘Big Conspiracy’ back to the stage – and bigger than ever”. It continued, saying that “This will be an intimate and deeply personal show, honouring an album that helped redefine the sound of British music.”

‘Big Conspiracy’ dropped in January 24, 2024, following a social media announcement from Hus the day before its release. It debuted at No. 1 on the UK Album Charts, and hosted Top 40-charting singles such as ‘Must Be’ and ‘No Denying’. Collaborators on the record include afrobeats icon Burna Boy, UK R&B star Ella Mai and Jamaican singer-songwriter Koffee.

Mixing multiple genres such as afrobeats, hip-hop, grime, R&B and garage, it was received critical acclaim from major publications. The Line Of Best Fit gave it a 9/10 review, saying that “Big Conspiracy is an album that certifies J Hus as one of the most influential artists in UK music.” It also earned him a nomination for the 2021 Brit Award for ‘British Album of the Year’.

In a time of rising ticket fees and dynamic pricing controversy, Hus has kept the prices for this show as low as possible, with tickets costed at £30. The press release expanded on this decision: “In an era of rising costs and inaccessible shows, this decision reflects Hus’ ongoing commitment to his community – making sure the people who made the music matter most can be there in person,”

The Royal Albert Hall has featured nights from hip-hop artists before, such as Nas for his 2024 tour honouring the 30th anniversary of his debut album ‘Illmatic‘. Public Enemy are also set to take to the stage for a show on June 27.

Tickets will go on general sale at 12pm BST tomorrow, on Friday (May 30). You can purchase tickets and find event details here on Ticketmaster.

London’s flagship UK festival, Wireless, celebrates its 19th anniversary in 2024. Owned by UK entertainment giant, Festival Republic, Finsbury Park’s Wireless festival is known for its annual bill of A-list performers. Back in 2005, Wireless festival began its 19-year run with features from New Order, MIA, and Moby. Since then, the event has become first and foremost, a hip-hop centric festival, with last year’s extravaganza securing major American rappers like Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Lil Yachty.

This year is no different from the last, seeing a star-studded selection of rappers from both sides of the Atlantic. Phase one of Wireless’ line up was announced today via the festival’s official Instagram. 2024’s event poster gives considerable weight to female rappers, both new and old. After exploding in popularity in 2022 after her single ‘Munch’, Bronx rapper, Ice Spice will be playing on the festival’s opening night alongside Trinidadian mega-star Nicki Minaj.

Known for her risqué lyrics, Up-and-coming Missourian rapper Sexyy Red will also be performing at Wireless. Finding her audience after Cardi B’s and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP created an industry niche for tongue-in-cheek, sexually charged, female-led, rap music, Sexxy Red capitalised on this sub-genre, finding success with her 2023 single ‘Pound Town’.

Saturday the 14th of July will see LA rapper and singer Doja Cat headline the night. After her breakout YouTube single ‘Mooo!’, which currently has 129m views, Doja Cat has continued to make a name for herself through a steady stream of popular releases and her outlandish costume designs. Off the back of her fourth studio album, Scarlet, released in November of last year, Doja Cat has secured herself a top spot at London’s biggest music festival.

Wireless’ Saturday will be host to British-born Atlanta rapper 21 Savage. 21 Savage became widely known after his 2016 feature on XXL Magazine’s freshman cypher alongside, then upcoming rappers, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Kodak Black, and Denzel Curry. Since his 2016 breakout, 21 Savage has gone on to release three studio albums, as well as three collaborative albums with Offset, Metro Boomin, and Drake. Fellow Atlanta rapper, Future will also be performing on the event’s Friday show. Known for his pioneering contributions to the American trap scene, Future remains one of the biggest names in the genre.

Although the setlist features only a couple of UK artists so far, with Digga D and J Hus joining the line up, Festival Republic is yet to announce the full line up, the second phase of which will be released next week. Early bird tickets for the festival will go live on January 31st at 10am. For those with either a Three Mobile or Barclay Card rewards scheme, a special pre-sale is currently available until an hour before the general ticket sale date.

Parklife Festival has revealed its official line-up for 2024, with major chart-toppers Doja Cat, Disclosure and J Hus set to head to Manchester this summer. Celebrating its 14th year, the iconic UK festival will return to Manchester’s Heaton Park between June 8th and 9th, with a melting pot of different artists curated by Mancunian club night mammoth The Warehouse Project.

The raucous weekend first came about in 2007 after a group of students decided they wanted to put together their own rave, aptly named the Mad Ferret Festival. The event kicked itself into gear in Platt Fields Park, Rusholme, but by the early 2010s it had relocated to Heaton Park and christened as Parklife. Since then, the event has witnessed a huge surge in popularity and has been crowned the UK’s largest metropolitan music festival, growing from a one-day event in a field to over 160,000 ticketholders rushing to north Manchester every year.

After today’s announcement, superstar rapper Doja Cat has no doubt cemented herself as the queen of the 2024 festival season, boasting headline slots across the globe for Coachella, Rock in Rio and Open’er Festival. The polarising singer and internet personality is most certainly set to bring the heat ahead of her European leg of The Scarlet Tour.

Festival-goers can also expect performances from powerhouse vocalist Becky Hill, DJ and singer Peggy Gou and Canadian producer Kaytranada, as well as unmissable sets from Anne-Marie, Nia Archives, Fourtet, Barry Can’t Swim, ANOTR, Camelphat, Rudim3ntal, Digga D and Sugababes.

Welcoming a multitude of different genres, the festival has since steered away from indie bands headlining in recent years, predominantly featuring dance, electronic and hip-hop acts to cater to its everchanging audience. This year is predicted to mark a new era for the festival, showcasing a brand new stage, jaw-dropping production, state-of-the-art tech and fewer line-up clashes.

Early Bird tickets sold out rapidly in December 2023, but an exclusive 2024 presale will be open from 10am on Thursday 25th January to anyone who has registered. Registration closes the night before at 6pm on Wednesday 24th January. Three Mobile customers will be able to purchase Saturday and Sunday tickets or full weekend tickets 24 hours before other customers on Wednesday here. Tickets including VIP access and coach travel are also available.

All remaining tickets will go on general sale from 10am on Friday 26th January which you can purchase from Ticketmaster. Both day and weekend tickets will be available either to pay in full or by deposit and signing up to a payment plan.

For those not wanting the party to end, Parklife’s official afterparties, ‘Afterlife’ have been unveiled, including an after-hours set from Kaytranada. You can grab tickets here.

A year before that, J Hus famously made a surprise appearance at Drake’s concert at London’s O2 Arena hours after being released from jail on a knife possession charge. Now, the East London rapper has returned with more music with his is recent release “It’s Crazy” as his first track of the year. The song dropped on Friday 26 May, which is also the date of the rapper’s birthday.

Rapper J Hus was granted an early release from prison, yesterday (April 5), and celebrated with a surprise appearance onstage with Drake, at his gig, at London’s O2. The appearance comes four months after, the rapper was found guilty of being in possession of a knife. Drake amazed fans last night (April 5), when he brought rapper, J Hus, out onstage, at The O2, in London.

The rapper was sentenced to eight months in prison, in December 2018, after he was caught with a knife, at the Westerfield Shopping Centre, in East London. The rapper’s early release, comes as he has severed less than half of his sentence. It is not yet known when J Hus was released from prison – but it has been suggested it could have been the same day as his appearance at Drake’s week long, O2 residency.

Teasing the crowd, Drake changed the stage’s display to a message that read: ” Welcome Home”. He then proceeded to say: “If anyone’s sitting down right now, I need you to stand up because we’re going to celebrate one of our brothers tonight.”

As J Hus joined Drake onstage, he said: “I’ve missed you so much, I swear I missed you so much.” With Drake replying: “I waited for this all week so I could give you this stage so you can do exactly what you’ve been waiting to do.” After the introduction, J Hus took to the stage and performed his 2017 hit ‘Did You See’, much to the excitement of The O2 crowd.

After the gig, Drake shared a photo of him and J Hus hugging, on his Instagram, saying that his show, on Friday the 5th of April 2019, had a “different energy” because of J Hus’s appearance and that people were “truly all so happy” to see him home.

Continuing she added: “This, in such a young life, is the fourth occasion when you have gone out armed with a knife.” Although, J Hus received a warm and happy welcome home, by an excited O2 crowd, people took to social media to question whether, the rapper should be “celebrated” following numerous stabbings, in the nations capitol and throughout the UK, this year.

During his trial, the court heard that J Hus, was caught with the weapon after police stopped a car near the Westfield shopping centre, in Stratford, east London, on the 21st of June 2018. Police stopped Jallow and his girlfriend, in their, after they smelt cannabis.

Speaking to the rapper they asked whether he was in possession of anything illegal, to which he revealed that he was in possession of a 10cm folding knife. Following his arrest officers asked why he was carrying the weapon, to which he replied: “You know, it’s Westfield.”

Blaxland told Judge Canavan that the arrest was a “watershed moment” for the rapper, who knows “he has a responsibility” to others. He told the judge of how it has had “huge consequences” to his performance schedule.

J Hus is a rising star of the British rap scene, with his debut album, ‘Common Sense’, being nominated for the 2017 Mercury music prize. He was nominated for three Brit awards this year. However, following his arrest in June, he was removed from the line-up of this summer’s Wireless festival and dropped out of a scheduled appearance at the TRNSMT music festival.

Blaxland told the court his client had felt isolated because of his fame, and could have been drawn back to Newham, east London, which is where he grew up, “like a moth to a flame”. He said that the defendant had been seeing a therapist and has mild PTSD, after being stabbed five times, back in 2015.

The rapper hit the scene in 2015, with his song ‘Dem Boy Paigon’. It wasn’t until last year that J Hus released his debut studio album, ‘Common Sense’, which reached number six in the UK chart.

The album received widespread critical acclaim upon its release, and ended up being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, as well as Album Of The Year, at this year’s Brit Awards.

The rapper was also a contender for Best British Breakthrough, at the awards show. Meanwhile, his song ‘Did You See’, reached the top ten, was also up for British Single Of The Year and was awarded Best Song, at the 2017 Mobo Awards.

Grime maestro J Hus has been arrested and charged in East London with carrying a knife. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a huge breakthrough in the last year or so, but was stopped by police in Stratford on June 21. Upon his vehicle’s occupants being searched, J Hus- real name Momodou Jallow- was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a knife or bladed article.

He has since been denied bail at Thames Magistrates Court, and will remain in custody until his trial, due on July 20.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said: “Officers in a marked police car stopped a vehicle in International Way, E20, at about 12:35pm on Thursday 21 June. The occupants of the vehicle were searched and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a knife/bladed article.” The Met later confirmed to BBC Newsbeat the arrested man was J Hus.

Jallow was scheduled to perform at multiple festivals during this summer’s season, including Glasgow’s TRSNMT festival and O2 wireless, both due before his scheduled trial date. Representatives of J Hus are yet to comment on any changes to these dates, or address the arrest at all.

Earlier this year, J Hus told NME that he was already done with his next album, and the follow-up to 2017’s meteoric Common Sense, revealing that it was hoping to be released as early as August. “I’m already working on a new album,” he said. “Hopefully we can release it for about August. I’m working on it, nearly done. Hopefully I can get Skepta on it.”
