British newcomers The Last Dinner Party are zooming ahead in the UK chart race, with midweek sales and streaming statistics predicting the band are currently on track to achieve a Number 1 spot in the Official Album Charts for their debut album ‘Prelude to Ecstasy.’ The London-based quintet are currently riding the wave of the album’s release since last Friday, touring up and down the country playing sold-out shows, meeting with fans, as well as taking part in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and talk show appearances, a far cry from when they first emerged on to the scene post-lockdown.

Abigail Morris (lead vocalist), Georgia Davies (bass), and Lizzie Mayland (rhythm guitar) met in 2020 when they were enrolled at King’s College London together. The trio went on to form the band, originally called ‘The Dinner Party’, with Emily Roberts (lead guitar) and Aurora Nishevci (keys) from Guildhall School of Music & Drama joining them soon after. Crowned as the winners of this year’s BRITs Rising Star Award and the prestigious BBC Sound Of…2024 poll, The Last Dinner Party have had a whirlwind couple of months, securing their first-ever Official Singles Chart Top 40 entry just last week with the album’s lead single ‘Nothing Matters‘ charting at 22. ‘Prelude to Ecstasy‘ is expected to take the title, with BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders counting down to the top spot this Friday between 16:00 and 17:45PM GMT as part of the Official Chart Show.

The fearless five-piece have been highly active on social media this week, spreading the album far and wide and expressing their gratitude for the incredible reception it has received, commenting: “Sharing this magical week with each and every one of you up and down the country has been SO special. Our heartfelt gratitude to you all knows no bounds. Without one single doubt, you are our crème de la crème.”

After building a word-of-mouth fanbase on the UK gig circuit over the past few years, The Last Dinner Party have now confirmed the dates for their upcoming European and North American Tour, as well as their first major UK/Ireland Tour this September and October. Presale tickets are currently available to purchase here for fans who have been granted a presale access code, with the General Sale commencing this Friday, February 9, from 8AM GMT. The tour will conclude in the group’s hometown at the iconic Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London, on October 16.

Tearing ahead for their first potential UK Number 1, this is a band not at all flustered by a potential sell-by date, having already secured career-defining performances at this year’s Reading and Leeds and TRNSMT Festival, and even across the pond for Coachella. Serving up a fruitful debut, ‘Prelude to Ecstasy‘ is out now.

Welsh heavy metal band Skindred have shared a new single ahead of the release of their upcoming album Smile. “Unstoppable” is the fifth advance track from their eighth long-player, which is set to arrive on August 4th and celebrates the group’s 25th anniversary.

Following a huge summer of shows, which included performances at Glastonbury, Download, 2000 trees, and some highly acclaimed support slots at KISS’s final UK concerts, the band showcases the enduring power of their classic reggae-metal hybrid on a song that spreads a message of motivation and positivity. Lead vocalist Benji Webbe’s unique blend of spoken word and effortless belting coupled with some full-throttle metal riffage makes for a truly captivating listening experience that is sure to keep old fans invested, as well as appeal to a newer audience.

Guitarist Mikey Demus weighs in on the significance of “Unstoppable” and how it reflects the band’s ethos in the song’s press release:

“People have tried and failed to put us in a box we refuse to live in. Skindred has a determination and a tenacity to stay true to ourselves, and true to our fans. Skindred will not be ignored. We are Unstoppable!”

Frontman Benji Webbe adds: “We keep going and we keep pushing forward. In life, it’s about hearing that our music has encouraged people and got them through dark times. But even when we’re done and gone, people will still be listening to this music. That thought makes me smile.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Steve Clarke, features miniature versions of the band members, demonstrating their fun-loving attitude and proving they don’t take themselves too seriously.

Watch the video below:

Recorded in the midst of the pandemic, Skindred’s latest studio effort Smile is an album that deals with big themes and an even bigger melting pot of genres. Alongside Nothing But Thieves producer Julian Emery, the four-piece put their stylistic range to the test, exhibiting great adaptability and inventiveness with a track-list that boasts everything from rock and pop to dub and electro.

With five singles already released – including the hard-hitting “Gimme That Boom” and pop-reggae triumph of “L.O.V.E. (Smile Please)” – all the signs seem to suggest that Smile will be Skindred’s masterpiece.

US pop-punk masters Bowling For Soup are coming back across the pond for a whistle-stop tour of Irish Shows and a rescheduled Torquay Show. In a press release it was revealed the band will be playing The Telegraph Building in Belfast, Northern Ireland before heading over the border to play the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin the following day and finishing up at The Riviera Centre in Torquay on December 5th.

The Torquay show was originally a part of their Crowd Surf the UK Tour. The original UK tour kicked off in April 2022 with eleven scheduled shows. Unfortunately, the Torquay show had to be postponed due to the venue being used as a Covid vaccination centre. The band announced the postponement on their Instagram page saying “We are having to postpone our show in Torquay on the 18th of April due to some issues with the venue that are out of our hands. This is a POSTPONEMENT, not a cancellation! Please hang onto your tickets – we are planning on making it back to Torquay in 2022 to play this show as soon as we can.” The band added an additional date in Bristol instead.

The band, Jaret Reddick (guitar and vocals), Chris Burney (guitar), Rob Felicetti (bass) and Gary Wiseman (drums), are currently touring the US with Less Than Jake. The main support for the UK shows will be As December Falls, a UK pop-punk band from Nottingham who had great success with their 2021 album Happier. Also joining the support is Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie / Rookie of the Year) and his band. Nicholas was a guest on Reddick’s podcast (Jaret Goes to the Movies) last year and the pair discussed creating a new version of Bowling For Soup’s hit “1985” called “1999″ inspired by the events of American Pie. Since then, the bands have been firm friends.

The tour comes after Bowling For Soups’ 11th studio album Pop Drunk Snot Bred was released to strong reviews. Kerrang! Magazine said the album is “a joyous and welcoming record made for beer-in-hand, arms-around-the-shoulder singalongs. Nearly three decades in, Bowling For Soup are proving they can still bring the pop-punk good times better than most.” And Ghost Cult Magazine said it was their “best musical performance to date.”

Tickets will go on general sale on Friday 29th July, more information can be found on their website.
