The mixtape is full of emotion and tells the story of navigating through life and finding where you fit into it all. In an Instagram post announcing the release, Cian said; “It’s the end of a chapter of the last 2 years of my life before I begin a new one and I am so excited to capture it in this body of work and to share it all with you guys forever.”

This will be Cian’s first and last release as an independant artist, as he has signed a record deal with Darkroom/Interscope Records last week. In a TikTok video, Cian announced the signing, saying; “Yesterday I signed my first ever record deal with my dream label Darkroom/Interscope. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Dreams come true if you work hard and never give up!”

In an interview with Atwood Magazine, Cian talked about how he writes his songs based off real experiences, but they don’t always need to be his own. His song hurt so bad was a song about a friend of his who suffered a miscarraige at 19. Similarly, the inspiration for his song anyone but her, came from a friend who reached out to him about a difficult time she was experiencing, dealing with substance abuse while trying to achieve her dreams.

In the interview, Cian said;  “I was like, “would you be happy to tell me your whole story and like write it out? Only if that’s something you’re comfortable with.”  I was like I would love to write a song about it. For her, that was like the most perfect thing and she was so happy to write it for me and tell me her story. For me, it was like an honour and a privilege to be able to put it into a song.”

Cian built a huge fanbase throughout his time in lockdown over the popular video app TikTok. He creates funny videos and also shares his music too. He currently has almost 600k followers and has reached 16.5m likes in the last few months. He is a great example of an artist who is popular in different mediums and has developed a fanbase that likes both his music and his personality. He has also used it to promote his music by creating funny videos using the audio from his music.
