The two bands will take to the Somerset stage on 26 June, just ahead of their appearances at Glastonbury that same weekend. They’re raising money for CALM, a suicide prevention charity which runs a free and anonymous helpline, open to everyone across the UK, from 5pm to midnight every day. CALM also provides helpful tools and resources on their website, available to all at any time.

With a capacity of just over 600, Komedia is a small venue, providing a more intimate setting for the gig ahead of their shows in Glastonbury, where the bands will be performing to crowds of tens of thousands. Both bands will be at Glastonbury on Friday 27 June, the day after their charity show.

The bands share a close friendship. Recently, Blossoms supported Inhaler on their 2025 European tour, as well as opening for them for their homecoming gig at St. Anne’s Park in Dublin. In July, Inhaler will support Blossoms at their gig at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre. In an interview with NME, Inhaler frontman Elijah Hewson and bassist Robert Keating detailed what it was like to work with Blossoms, and listed the British band as a source of support.

He said: “We’re very close with the Blossoms lads. It’s funny, because when we were in school, we used to sneak off from class and go to the computer rooms. We’d be like ‘Have you heard this band from Manchester? They’re on Radio 1 and they use guitars.’ We just thought it was deadly.”

Keating added: “They showed us the ropes. It’s very much like a big brother situation now.”

Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden shares his respect for the Irish band in an interview with Hot Press, explaining how Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anaïs was the one to introduce them:

“Me and my wife Katie went to one of Anaïs’ birthdays in London. Rob and Eli were there, and we hung out and became friends. They carried on writing songs and got to a point where they were put on to support us in Dublin at the Olympia and in Belfast at Limelight.

“We’ve just remained friends since then. They’re like a gang of friends the same way we are, so we relate on a lot of things. You meet a lot of bands and maybe they’re not quite as tight as we are. You could see that Inhaler are actually friends and they’d hang out away from the music.

“I’ve got loads of respect for them, they’re a top band and top group of lads. They did some big shows for us, and we’re doing their big Dublin one, so I’m buzzing.”

Fans all over the UK and Europe have begun receiving the vinyl this week, several days after it was shipped out in the US. The shipment of the vinyls have drastically changed the race for this week’s number one album, with Swift now gaining more chart units than Inhaler’s ‘Open Wide‘ which was released last week and is currently topping the update albums chart.

The vinyl was originally released as a special and very limited edition in 2023, four years after the album ‘Lover‘ was released. Swift held a concert, titled ‘City of Lover’, in Paris in September 2019, weeks after the release of the album, and recorded the set to release it on streaming platforms the following year. ‘Lover (Live from Paris)‘, marked Swift’s fourth live recorded album and only entered UK charts upon the release of the first vinyl edition, in 2023, peaking at 90.

The original album ‘Lover‘ had peaked at number one, and has (so far) spent 268 weeks charting, and is currently charting at 43.

‘Lover (Live from Paris)‘ includes eight songs, all from the ‘Lover‘ album and many of which have made it to Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ setlist. The trackless includes: ‘ME!’, ‘The Archer’, ‘Death by a Thousand Cuts’, ‘Cornelia Street’, ‘The Man’, ‘Daylight’, ‘You Need To Calm Down’ and, of course, ‘Lover’. The album’s biggest hit, ‘Cruel Summer’, which peaked at number two in the UK, was not included in the ‘City of Lover’ concert but made it to the ‘Eras Tour’ setlist after its incredible popularity years after the release of the album.

If ‘Lover (Live from Paris)’ achieved the number one spot of this week’s UK chart like it is expected to, it would mark Swift’s 13th album to reach the position. Previously, she had claimed the number one spot with:

The band has also released a new single days before the release of ‘Open Wide‘, titled ‘Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)‘ as well as multiple songs in the past months in anticipation of the album.

Inhaler are an Irish rock band from Dublin consisting of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Elijah Hewson, the son of U2 singer Bono, bassist and backing vocalist Robert Keating, guitarist Josh Jenkinson and drummer Ryan McMahon. The band initially formed in 2012 at St. Andrews College with Keating, Hewson and McMahon as the original band members, with Jenkison joining eventually in 2015.

‘Open Wide’ marks the band’s third studio album to be released. In 2021, Inhaler released their debut album ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’ followed by ‘Cuts and Bruises’ in 2023. ‘It Won’t always be like this‘ peaked at number one in the UK, spending three weeks on the Album Chart and one week at number one, while ‘Cuts and Bruises‘ peaked at number two and spent two weeks on charts.

Both albums also peaked at number one in Ireland, the band’s native country. With their debut album, they became the first Irish band to claim the number one spots on UK charts in 13 years, since The Script had claimed it last in 2008. Furthermore, ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This‘ became the fastest selling debut album on vinyl of the century.

Their upcoming tour begins in Leeds today, and includes many dates in the UK. The tour will then take the Irish band to the United States and Canada, Europe in April and May, and Australia in June. The band also recently announced two exclusive intimate concerts in the UK for their fans, these will be taking place in London and Sheffield in April and are already sold out.

The band was recently on the BBC Live Lounge, where they played a cover of Lola Young’s ‘Messy’ as well as their single ‘A Question of You’.

‘Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)’ highlights Inhaler’s signature guitar-driven pop style, characterised by energetic rhythms and catchy melodies. The song showcases the band’s ability to blend indie rock influences with a modern twist, creating an infectious and dynamic listening experience. Guitarist Josh Jenkinson and bassist Robert Keating have both expressed their love for ‘Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)’ in recent social media posts. Josh simply stated, “My favourite song is Billy” while Bobby shared a more personal connection, saying, “My favourite track is Billy. I have an allegiance to this track as it was named after my brother (the day we wrote it, I had to leave to see a school gig my far more talented younger brother had. They grow up so fast.).“ Their enthusiasm for the song highlights its significance within ‘Open Wide’ and adds a sentimental layer to its already compelling energy. 

In support of ‘Open Wide’, Inhaler has announced an extensive tour, including their most significant UK and Ireland dates to date. The tour features two headline shows at London’s iconic Brixton Academy and a 20,000-capacity homecoming performance at Dublin’s St. Anne’s Park in May. The video comes just weeks before the release of ‘Open Wide’ and the launch of the band’s Open Wide World Tour, which will kick off in February. Beginning with a string of sold-out UK dates, including two nights at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, the tour will see the band head across Europe and the US, joined by Blossoms for their May hometown show at St Anne’s Park in Dublin. It’s clear that this tour is shaping up to be their biggest one yet, as they bring new music and insane amounts of energy to fans around the world.

Inhaler’s rise has been steady since their debut album, ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’, which rocket-launched them to fame with its chart-topping success in both the UK and Ireland in 2021. Speaking to NME about the inspiration behind the track, the band said, “Whilst on tour in America last year we were listening to a lot of music by some of the great American writers such as Bob Dylan, The Band, Bruce Springsteen etc. Listening to these artists while travelling on big open highways resonated with us and helped shape this song into making us sound more like a live band than we had before.”

Inhaler have reached new heights this year, supporting Arctic Monkeys on tour. Frontman Eli Hewson shared his thoughts with NME, saying, “It’s hard to not feel like a child when you’re around them.”

He continued, “It still isn’t really resonating that we’re doing it. But they’re the most lovely and welcoming guys, so we’ve just got to try and be the best band we can.”

Speaking on the band’s touring plans of their own, Hewson said, “It’s going to be a better show. It’s not just five lads on stage chancing their arm anymore; we actually have to step up and make it a real thing.”

Inhaler also spoke on their struggles around making their new album and found reassurance in watching Peter Jackson’s Get Back Beatles documentary.

Drummer Ryan McMahon said, “You’re watching the greatest band of all time and go through their own problems and their own struggles. You think, ‘That’s a perfect record – how could there be anything wrong with it?’, and then you see what their relationship was like. It gave us a sense that, though we were at loggerheads sometimes, we were all working on something that felt good and felt right.”

The band’s fanbase is certain to widen even further this year, as they are set to support Harry Styles on the UK and European legs of ‘Love On Tour.‘

The cover was recorded for an Apple Music Home Session, a new idea launched by the digital music service last year. Within the session the band also promised to perform one of the group’s own songs, the group also performed the single ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’, taken from their debut album ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’. The original recording released by Billie Eilish was the singer’s third single to be taken from her forthcoming album ‘Happier Than Ever’ set to be released 30th July 2021 via Darkroom, a sub-label of Interscope records. Eilish rose to popularity in 2015 with the release of the debut track ‘Ocean Eyes’, which led to a meteoric rise through her first number-one single ‘Bad Guy’. Much like ‘Bad Guy’ and‘Ocean Eyes’, ‘Your Power’ was co-written with her brother Finneas O’Connor.

The cover sees the group provide a fresh approach to their version whilst projecting their popular Indie style onto the American singer’s recent single. The Inhaler’s reworking showcases lead singer and guitarist Elijah Hewson’s impressive vocal range and includes the conventional indie instrumentation of electric guitar, keyboards and percussion. The group’s version has been received well by fans, this is no surprise with the track’s atmospheric soundscape which perfectly reflects the lyrical theme and the powerful build up to an emotive ending.

The band which hails from Dublin consists of members, Robert Keating on bass, Josh Jenkinson on guitar, Ryan McMahon on drums and frontman and guitarist Elijah Hewson, son of music legend and philanthropist Bono.  In 2020 they were up and comers within the industry and were included within the top 5 of BBC’s Sound off…, a yearly survey from professionals and critics to establish the ones to watch. After forming in 2012, the group released their debut single which was self-released. ‘I Want You’ was released in 2017 and was included within a compilation album.

Five more singles were released before their first studio album was announced earlier this month through record label Polydor. The group’s debut album was revealed on on 9th July 2021 and reached number one within the UK Album charts this week. In support of their debut album the band also performed the same set from their Apply Music Home Session during a BBC Radio 1 session, the session was performed at Maida Vale Studios located in London and was aired on 14th July 2021 at 6 pm.

Within the broadcast the group spoke to Annie Mac regarding the cover and the process taken to achieve the results, Hewson described how it took “months of training” to accomplish the vocal register heard in the cover, commonly referred to as falsetto. This vocal technique is obtained by the artist singing notes in which is abnormal for a typical voice to reach. Hewson also confirmed the group’s reasoning for picking ‘You Power’ to cover. “We wanted to do something that was popular. I think [Eilish] is a really good inspiration for people who wanna get into the pop world, When you hear her songs, you really know that it comes from her heart. And I think the song has a great message. I think we did a good job, and hopefully she likes it and we didn’t butcher her song. It’s a great song.”

The group’s debut has given the members a lot to celebrate, the album reached number one within the UK charts with 18,000 chart sales. On 16th July 2021, it was announced that the group clinched the top spot, the band took to Instagram to thank their fans.

The group’s win also marked an important record, the release is the first album number one win from an Irish band in 13 years. The last Irish group to reach number one was the Script’s debut album released in 2008 entitled ‘The Script‘. The quartet’s debut also broke a record on its Vinyl sales, the album became the fasted selling debut album on wax for a group since 2001.

Fans will be able to hear the band’s debut and potentially their recent cover live later this year. The group will hit the road this September, starting their tour in Sheffield and finishing in December with four hometown shows in Dublin.

The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the few that will take place this year. Other famous ones, St Gallen Open -Air and Bern’s Gurten festivals have been cancelled for the second time in a row, due to the ongoing and unstable situation with the Covid-19 virus.
More than half of the UK’s festivals and world festivals have been already cancelled or postponed until next year. Reading and Leeds festival will still go ahead this August with Queens of the Stone Age and Post Malone as headliners, also All Points East has a green light for this year with Little Simz, Kano and Jamie xx included in the bill.

“Festival organisers have been talking for several months about alternative line-ups and what they might look like for the obvious reasons of travel restrictions. The general sense out there is that it won’t really matter to audiences this year in terms who headlines and who’s playing“.

The festival took to Instagram to announce news of the line-up confirmations, each act was announced in separate posts. Within one of the posts, NOS Alive celebrated the return of  ‘What You Know‘ performers Two Door Cinema Club to the event.

The festival will take place between 6th-9th July 2022. After two cancellations, including this year, music fans will again flock to the festival’s location Passeio Marítimo de Algés in Portgual.

The latest acts to be confirmed include English indie rockers Alt-J and Two Door Cinema Club, both acts were previously announced within the 2021 line-up and will be honouring their billing within the 2022 event. Ticket holders will get to see Mercury Prize winners Alt-J perform on the second day, 7th July 2022. The group bagged the award in 2012 for their debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’. Irish rockers and NME award nominees, Two Door Cinema Club are set to perform on the event’s last day, 9th July 2022.

Also included within the recent line-up announcement was singer St. Vincent. The Grammy award winner will perform on the Sagres Stage and her set will be on the festival’s third day, 8th July 2022. Ticketholders will be treated to the singer’s classics as well as material from her newest album ‘Daddy’s Home’, released 14^th May 2021. The artist known as Annie Erin Clark won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album for her 2014 album ‘St. Vincent’. Accelerating her accolade further, St. Vincent was the first woman to win the award in 20 years. Before her 2015 win, the last female to win the category was Sinead O’Connor in 1991 with her second album ‘I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got’.

The festival, which was once ranked within the top 12 European festivals by NME, has been running for over 14 years. NOS Alive was first organised under the different name of Oeiras Alive! In 2007 with an explosive line-up of Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins and Beastie Boys. The next year, the festival’s name changed again to Optimus Alive!, the 2008 event saw a range of headline acts, Rage Against the Machine, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. The festival was named its current title of NOS Alive in 2014 and premiered the new name with a superb headline list of Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys and Indie darlings The Libertines. The event’s name is seemingly taken from the festival’s main sponsor, the telecommunications company NOS, which was also previously named Optimus

Talking about the forthcoming album, guitarist Eli Hewson said: “There’s a sense of optimism on this album and the song ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’ is the main catalyst for that. We kept coming back to that title“.

The Inhaler originally formed in 2012 and released their first single in 2017 called “I Want You“. By 2020, they have released a few more singles that have been added to a self-titled EP.  Those tracks gave them recognition and helped out crafting their debut album, which the band worked on during lockdown.
