Produced by the Tottenham artist himself, ‘Love Me Not’ samples the 2001 hit ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. He combines a mix of old school garage, pop and grime sounds to create this banger. The track tells a story of failed love and rejection, as Skepta exclaims his self worth to a girl that’s interested in him, “You’ve been around the world still couldn’t find a man like me, yeah I need a girl but it’s not you.”

The visuals are reminiscent of early 00s grime videos, as Skepta takes an elevator within a London estate to arrive at a house party. The three artists perform their verses whilst among the crowd of partygoers, with red strobe lights covering the flat to accompany the old school aesthetic. Cameos can be spotted from Octavian, Chip and Nottingham MC Slowthai, as they’re shown getting involved in the celebrations.

The Grime icon’s highly anticipated fourth album, ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, sees the rapper “getting personal on one of his most contemplative efforts to date.” Speaking about the record, ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, which is set for release on May 31, Skepta said: “The internet is making everything and everyone politically correct but that takes away the artistry. Ignorance Is Bliss deals with the yin yang of Life. True Skepta, saying it exactly how it is.”

The release of the first two single from the upcoming album, ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, comes after Skepta took to social media to announce that his fourth album would be dropping soon. Taking to Instagram, Skepta, alongside the album cover, wrote: “NEW SKEPTA ALBUM #IGNORANCEisBLISS OUT MAY 31ST – Artwork shot by @haiimmanu @FLIR thank you Metallic mgmt for bringing my ideas to Life. Pre-order the album now. Link in my bio. (sic)”

Along with the announcement of the album, the rapper – who is often labelled The Godfather of Grime – took the time to thank his team for helping him bring his “ideas to life.” In a post earlier this month, Skepta revealed that the 13-track album was originally supposed to be titled, ‘SkLEVEL’, but the rapper – whose real name is Joseph Junior Adenuga – changed his mind last year. He has also told fans that he has “been working hard” and is “more focused than ever”, as he worked on new material.

Again taking to social media, Skepta, said: “A message to say I love you all, I’ve been working hard and I’m more focused than ever. Changed my album title cos #SkLEVEL is a 2018 pattern. New year, new name. @slowthai album first tho.. see you soon – Skep (sic)”

The announcement of the upcoming album, ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, follows the release of the Grime artists previously released Mercury Prize-winning LP, ‘Konnichiwa’, in 2016, which he followed by 2017’s six-track EP, ‘Vicious’.

The release of tracks comes as, the Godfather of Grime, is set to headline  Field Day festival next month, alongside Jorja Smith. 2019 looks set to be a big year for the grime star as he is set to performing across Europe this summer, including a hotly anticipated headline slot, at Field Day . He is also a headliner at the Manchester International Festival alongside Yoko Ono, Idris Elba and Kwame Kwei-Armah.

Meanwhile, the announcement comes as Skepta is set to perform at this summer’s EXIT Festival. It will see a string of today’s biggest artists heading to Serbia, for the festival, which will also see the like of The Cure, Greta Van Fleet, and many more across four-days, this July.
