The Manchester based artist has released two singles so far in 2020 with the latest one being about embracing love, something that is very topical in this day and age. She announced the singles release on her social media pages and duly released an audio video onto YouTube.

Real name Diana De Brito she was born in Lisbon but moved to Manchester at the age of five and made that her home, you can hear its influences in her music. She has seen her name grow rapidly in the past few years being named on BBC Sounds of 2018 and the mixtapes she has released have been met very warmly by both critics and her fans.

She also did a cover on the very popular ‘Color Sessions’ where she played her song pause. Watch it below;

She has also found herself in the ever growing and ever popular Manchester scene which has  given birth to acts such as Aitch and Bugzy Malone among others. So being among those artists is not bad company to be keeping.

IAMDDB is all set up to have a big career having enjoyed considerable success in her relatively short years in the business. You should keep your eyes and ears peeled for this latest sound coming out of the north, ready to rival the south’s scene.

This year is a special edition of Body & Soul festival, as it celebrates its tenth anniversary by returning, with another impressive and electric celebration of music, to Ballinlough Castle, Co. Westmeath, taking place over three-days between the 21st and 23rd of June 2019. Hennessy and Body & Soul have teamed up to present, The Midnight Circus Stage, which revealed its impressive line-up, of Irish and International hip hop acts featuring the likes of Octavian and Ms Banks.

Hennessy and Body & Soul are set to present the Midnight Circus stage, on the first night of the festival, Friday the 21st of June 2019. The stellar line-up featuring an impressive line-up of some of today’s best known and up-and-coming Irish and international hip-hop acts, which have been specially curated by MangoXMathman collaborator, DJ and producer, Adam Fogarty.

Speaking on his curation of the Hennessy and Body & Soul presents the Midnight Circus stage, Adam Fogarty (also known as Mathman), said: “Over the last number of decades, Hennessy with its own rich traditions, has always supported Irish talent in music, arts and culture, and it’s a brand synonymous with hip hop music. It’s for these reasons I’m honoured and extremely excited to collaborate with Hennessy and Body & Soul to curate the Midnight Circus Stage on the Friday night this year.

“Their support of urban music means our incredible Irish talent can stand side-by-side with its international counterparts all on one line-up. I’m proud to say that exactly half of our stage is made up of Irish acts, which shows the strength of talent this country has to offer. The other 50% is made up of some of the most exciting, eclectic and sought after artists in the game right now, both male and female. From beginning to end, the night will be an artistically rich experience celebrating Irish and international talent, and in the truest essence of hip hop – a raucous party.”

Taking to the Hennessy and Body & Soul Midnight Circus stage to set pulses racing, into the night, will be Manchester hip-hop songstress IAMDDB, with her intoxicating mix of hip-hop; striking trap, silky Afro jazz, genre-defying rapper and BBC Sound of 2019 winner Octavian; multi-Award winning South London rapper Ms Banks; Ireland’s MangoXMathman, leading figures in a new wave of electric Irish urban music; and West Belfast trio KNEECAP, who have recently garnered critical acclaim, will rap as Gaeilge.

Speaking about Hennessy’s collaboration with Body & Soul Festival, Moët Hennessy Market Development Manager, Elaine Cullen, said: “Hennessy is intrinsically linked to Ireland and has been supporting Irish culture for decades. Body & Soul has been a showcase for amazing Irish and international culture for ten years now and each year is known for creating a magical line-up of musical delights, artistic exploration and more.

“It’s fantastic to be able to collaborate with Mathman and the festival to bring some of the leading names from the Irish and international hip hop scene to the Hennessy presents Midnight Circus stage. The Hennessy Sound Lounge proved a great success last summer so we’re looking forward to introducing it and a new group of vinyl collectors to Body & Soul’s curious, creative and imaginative audience.”

The announcement of the line-up for the new Midnight Circus Stage follows last weeks announcement, which saw another 50 additional names added to the already stellar line-up. Among the 50 names announced was MODESELEKTOR (Live), The Blaze, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Santigold, Princess Nokia, Mashrou’ Leila, Kate Tempest, Mano Le Tough, The Black Lips, Talos, and King Kong Company.

Joining the likes of Octavian and Ms Banks at this year’s tenth anniversary of Body & Soul will be Confidence Man, Dream Wife, SOAK, Wyvern Lingo, Chymera,  Baikal, Kiddy Smile (Live), Monolink, The Drifter,  Moxie,  Pillow Queens, Coely, OSHUN. LAOISE, whenyoung, The Murder Capital, ROE, FEET, Meltybrains?, THUMPER, Tulla Céilí band, Tebi Rex, True Tides, Flynn, JyellowL, and Rushes.

The following names have also been announced to be performing at the festival and joining the already impressive line-up is Molly Sterling, Junior Brother, Proper Micro NV, Sing Along Social, PrYmary Colours, Kitt Philippa, Æ Mak, Just Mustard, Happyalone, EMBRZ, TPM, Post-Punk Podge & The Technohippies, Fonda, Extravision, Lowlek, Ghostking is Dead, Eve Clague, Nudy Boy Nature, Myles Manley, Fixity, Fia Moon, The Clockworks, Niamh Regan, and Cáit.

Finally, concluding the 50 names added to the line-up is Mother DJs, Kelly-Anne Byrne, Sevensol, Neil Flynn, Faune, Automatic Tasty, HomeB2beat DJs, Kate Brennan-Harding, Disconauts, Donal Dineen, Cian Finn, Hatchlings, Conor Connolly, JP Trio, Meabh Begley, Marlene Enright, Sive, Anna Mullarkey, Lewis Kenny, Sam Clague, Cat Dowling, Pete Pamf, John Francis, Róisín Seoighe, Helen Diamond, Kev Sheridan and My House.

The line-up already contains big names such as The Cure, Carl Cox and Greta Van Fleet. Yesterday’s additions to the line-up were predominantly hip-hop acts. See the announcement video below.

As well as Skepta, Desiigner and IAMDDB, other names added to the line-up include Sajsi MC, Bad Copy, Vojko V, Krešo Bengalka, Atlas Erotika, Bekfleš, Buntai, Hazze, High5, I.N.D.I.G.O, Krankšvester and 30Zona.

This is another addition to Grime MC Skepta’s busy festival schedule this year. He headlines Field Day festival along with Jorja Smith on the 7th and 8th of July in London.

The short video takes place in one scene but doesn’t fail to impress with the visuals and contrasting theme of being high. In the video we see DDB take center stage and we hear the alarm of the clock ring out. In the room, we see a person in the corner with a cat head smoking shisha which sets the scene of the whole video. DDB begins to sing the lyrics face to face with the camera and the background starts to become an illusion.

In this particular track, IAMDDB uses her voice as an instrument in being vocally mesmeric. The song is about DDB waiting on a lover who’s supposed to be calling her.

We like this new sound that DDB is introducing to us and we can’t wait on more upcoming tracks and music videos.

In June this year, IAMDDB released her Flightmode Vol.4 Album and dropped two videos called “Drippy” & “Kurr£ncy” that are featured on the Album.  The Album features 8 songs and consists of her personality and signature style shining through in each. The first 3 songs start off very calm and showcase her vocal skills and sound by the influence of Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. Each song caters to a theme in particular which is either love, self-affirmation or just being a bad bitch as she portrays in ‘Drippy’ & ‘Kurr£ncy’. In both these songs, IAMDDB wanted to promote her new lifestyle of “dripping sauce” and “making money moves”. The songs having memorable lyrics such as “Look at me flex, I got the sauce yeah” and “Money making moves, yeah I make it”.

After IAMDDB released her video for ‘Drippy’ back in early June, she decided to release her video for ‘Kurr£ncy’ a few days ago. The two videos are shot in different elements showcasing DDB’s personality. One shows a more classy and sophisticated approach whereas the other one is more chilled out.  The video is currently pushing onto 200,00 views and shows DDB wearing very stylish clothes and flaunting money with her friends. Most of all DDB wanted to stunt on those haters who doubted her music and sound by showing numbers don’t lie. The visuals are very much DDB by the different colors contrasted within the video and the angles to highlight her location being Tokyo. At the end of the video, you will hear the sound and the beat of the music slowly disappearing and her acoustic voice following in leaving the song off lightly. Many DDB fans and supporters are liking the new sound she’s bringing to her music while being able to keep her signature raspy sound.

IAMDDB revealed in early September that she would be hitting the road with Lauryn Hill for the 20th-anniversary tour which will take place in early December. So make sure to get your tickets. Until then check out her new video down below.
