The tour which will come along with the release will include stops in Dublin, Belfast, Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and Newcastle, before wrapping up at London’s Roundhouse. Jade said: “This album has been years in the making, so I’m beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it’s coming out. I’m very proud of ‘That’s Showbiz Baby!’ as a body of work and can’t wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!”

The title ‘That’s Showbiz Baby!’ has a lot of meaning for the singer as she has always been quite candid about her career. Indeed, the Brit was only a teenager when she saw herself rise to fame after winning famous show The X Factor with her girl band Little Mix, formerly including Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.

Opening up during an episode of The Assembly, a major new entertainment series where celebrities are questioned by a remarkable group of inquisitive interviewers who are autistic, neurodivergent and/or learning disabled, she answered a question asking her if she felt like she had “sold her soul” saying: “You’ve trumped me?…? Maybe a little bit in the beginning. I was so young and I just signed on the dotted line. But as the years have gone by I’ve learned more and more about the industry. I’ve been collecting — a bit like [Marvel superhero] Thanos with the stones — I’ve been collecting parts of my soul back as I’ve gained more creative freedom.” The ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ singer songwriter admitted she thinks this is the end of shows like the one that made her famous, as they can’t see them going anywhere. “I think it’s the end of that kind of TV show or music label. I think it’s the end of that era. But I don’t know if Simon Cowell specifically has ended.”

Speculations came all around Jade after the release of her single and who the lyrics were about, many people thinking they were about music mogul Simon Cowell.

She told Beat magazine: “It’s not specifically about that. But I wanted the song to be my journey, from entering the music business to now, and what that’s felt like. That’s why the song feels so chaotic. The opening is like the music to that montage bit on The X Factor after you’ve won, and you’re just catapulted into the industry.”

She added: “I don’t want to sit here and bash the last 13 years of my life. I’m very happy and content. But like with any job, there are highs and lows. That’s just life, and it’s my reality, but it’s about writing it in a way that’s not woe is me.”

London-based hyper-pop duo Two Shell have released their newest track “✨ mum is calling ✨” alongside a Tik Tok-inspired music video. The group premiered the track at their Primavera Sound Boiler Room. It has since been revised and released as the final track of their latest 6-track EP Lil Spirits, which dropped on the 10th February.

On “✨ mum is calling ✨” the DJs mix samples of distorted Siri voices with playful deconstructed club beats to create a buoyant party track. Their 7th EP, bubbling with energetic glitch-pop beats and autotuned vocals, is leading the way toward a new generation of dance music fused with cyberspace and packed with digital references.

The video for✨ mum is calling ✨”, released on the 30th March, starts in portrait mode mimicking how videos are recorded on a phone. Two masked figures are depicted dancing to the track disorientating the viewer with the heavy use of transitions and the expanding aspect ratio. The group also cheekily uses deep fakes on a stock image to voice ‘mum’ and Memojis to voice their response. Last month, Two Shell released music videos for “love him”, “i m e s s a g e”, and “♡here4u♡” from Lil Spirits.

Two Shell have caught the media’s attention through their mysterious antics and bubblegum bass soundscape since their formation in 2019. They were featured on this year’s NME 100 as well as Pitchfork’s list of Rising Artists Shaping the Future of Music.

The identity of the two performers is clouded in secrecy with the duo using fluffy hats, masks, and shades to hide their faces when they perform. Some fans are even convinced that they send random stand-ins to mime along to their sets at gigs like the ground-breaking DJ SOPHIE did back in 2014. Their use of baby face filters and DALL-E mini to create AI-generated images for their EP art and press images showcases how their identity is intertwined with internet culture. Two Shell rarely accept interviews – their first-ever interview with The Face has now been “destroyed”.

Never failing to keep their fans on their toes, Two Shell have announced they will be playing four shows all on the same night – the 22nd April – in London. They will be performing at Wide Awake Festival, an independent festival that showcases up-and-coming talent, in London next month. The duo are also on the line-up for the German music festival Melt this Summer.

See here for tickets.

For full dates see below:

14/04/23 – Oxi – Berlin
22/04 – Laylow – London

French-Icelandic artist Daniel Ness has returned with a brand-new single entitled “Careless”, boldly blending flavours of early 2000s trance music, R&B and elements of hyperpop. The track was released today (Friday the 18th of March) and can be listened to via streaming services, or at the link below.

This new single comes hot on the heels of Ness’s last release “Wounded”, which was well-received by the likes of Jamz Supernova, Crack Magazine, Dummy and more. Both singles are to be featured on Ness’s upcoming E.P. Like “Wounded”, the song is drenched in the hazy, melancholic atmosphere that defines Ness’s sound, and seamlessly blends together elements of different musical styles. A recent press release regarding the song briefly discussed its themes, saying: “Playing with themes of vulnerability, patience and human relationship, ‘Careless’ is about letting go of toxicity and protecting your own sanity.”

Daniel Ness is a Fench-Icelandic music producer based in London. A brief description of Ness on RA states: “Daniel Ness’ music doesn’t necessarily hold an evident place within a club environment. Multifunctional and introspective, his emotive-style of production is fueled by a fascination for melancholy and how it affects him. With past shows across Europe and Asia, appearances on NTS Radio, productions for rising-French rappers and a current residency on Balamii Radio, the London-based artist and Merci Jitter-founder stands out through the eclectic nature of his productions and the captivating bipolarity between leftfield and generic textures that his music holds.”

“Wounded” and “Careless” are Ness’s first new releases since “Live A Lie”, which was released in April 2021, and featured Mikey Enwright. The feverish song is defined by swirling synth atmospheres and plucks, and stunning, rich clusters of autotuned vocals. Preceding this were the 2020 singles “Manual Touch” and “Lick”, and before that, the artist’s debut E.P. Shy, released in 2019.

From scouring Ness’ discography, it is plain to hear for any listener that this is a talented young artist indeed, with a grasp of multiple different genres and a clear, defined sound of his own that he has been perfecting since his emergence in 2019. You can check out Daniel Ness’ musical catalogue on all streaming services, and you can keep up with his new releases and announcements via his socials.
