The announcement has sent waves of excitement through their fanbase, with tickets expected to be priced around £250. It is currently unknown whether the London shows will be the band’s only dates in the UK. An official announcement is expected in the upcoming weeks. In 2022, The Rolling Stones celebrated their 60th anniversary with a series of performances across the UK, culminating in two significant concerts at London’s Hyde Park on June 25 and July 3. These shows were part of the British Summer Time festival and marked their return to the iconic venue since their memorable free concert in 1969.

The South Korean girl group, dubbed the “biggest girl group in the world”, consists of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. BLACKPINK became the first Korean group to headline Coachella earlier this year.

Their sophomore album Born Pink was released in September last year through YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. The girls dipped into hip hop, pop, rock, and EDM on the genre-spanning album. The album peaked at number 1 in several countries including South Korea, the US, Canada, Croatia, Portugal, and UK – making the band the first K-pop Girl Group to land a UK number one album.

American superstar P!nk will be headlining British Summer Time on Saturday 24^th June and Sunday 25^th June. Support for the pop princess includes American songstress Gwen Stefani, British Eurovision contestant Sam Ryder, TikTok famed singer Gayle, and American singer Tinashe. The festival taking place in the heart of London started back in 2013. Over the last decade, the festival has hosted many iconic headliners such as The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Libertines, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Blur, The Strokes, Kylie Minogue, The Cure, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and Florence + The Machine.

They have just announced three acts set to be supporting the rock band. Amongst these, be ready to be warmed up by the rock legends from the 80’s, Pretenders. Alongside them, the grammy nominated band Larkin Poe from the US. And let’s not forget The Darkness band from the 2000’s rock scene.

The Pretenders performance will be the wrap up for their UK and Ireland tour starting this May and finishing on the 30th June, as mentioned before, at Hyde Park. The tour is named “Relentless” after their soon to be released album – Relentless. However, Chrissie Hynde is handling the situation in a very secretive manner and still hasn’t revealed any valuable information about the official drop.

Larkin Poe lurk close behind their, band support, peers. The Nashville band formed by the multi-instrumentalist sisters Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell. It seems like the duo will be mainly showcasing their best hits from their latest album release Blood Harmony. This being their sixth studio album.

Finally, the British rock band, The Darkness, will be playing as Guns N’ Roses support act and will be playing another live show in Norway where they will be supporting KISS on their End Of The Road world tour, on the 15th of July before the bands official tour in November where they will be visiting Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

It is going to be the first time Guns N’ Roses perform at the BST Festival this year. They will be playing amongst our global, music industry’s leading figures from the past few decades, including Bruce Springsteen, BLACKPINK, Billy Joel, Take That and P!nk. All playing on consecutive weekends.

This years edition celebrates que festivals 10th year anniversary from when they first launched. It is an event which consists on a series of live shows held over two or three weekends at Hyde Park in London. Over the years it has hosted the biggests acts in the world such as Celine Dion, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, The Strokes, The Who, Adele … you name it.

The recently announced UK tour dates are part of a worldwide tour in which Springsteen & The E Street band will also commence next year. Before the band start the European leg of their tour, they will play a string of live shows in the US from 1st February 2023 until 13th April 2023. The tour kicks off with a set at Florida’s Amalie Arena and continues for 26 more US shows.

After the completion of the tour’s US leg, the group will descend on Ireland and play three shows at Dublin’s RDS Arena on 5th, 7th and 9th May 2023. Following their Ireland shows, the band will kick off the European leg of the tour with a set at Italian venue Parco Urbano Bassani on 18^th May 2023, after five more European dates the band’s first UK set of their tour is held. The extensive global tour is scheduled to conclude on 25th July 2023, the influential singer and band will finish their tour with a performance at Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale.

Springsteen recently made headlines for his surprise appearance at last month’s Glastonbury Festival, the “Born In The USA” singer joined fellow rocker Paul McCartney on stage during the former Beatles’ set. During the now legendary performance, Springsteen treated the audience to his hit “Glory Days” and teamed up with McCartney to perform the Beatles classic “I Wanna Be Your Man”. Later on during the event, Springsteen made a return to the Pyramid Stage to join Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for a performance of “The End”.

McCartney performed his headlining slot at the Pyramid Stage on 25th June 2022 and was also joined by Grohl, after the completion of “Get Back” the singer motioned to the former Nirvana drummer to join him on stage. The “Come Together” singer said to the roaring crowd, “Now, I’ve got a little surprise for you, your hero from the west coast of America – Dave Grohl!” After the pair exchanged pleasantries, they performed “I Saw You Standing There” and “Band On The Run” The live collaboration marked the first time that Grohl had been seen on stage since the tragic passing of his bandmate and friend Taylor Hawkins.

Tickets for the UK tour will be available to purchase from Thursday 21st July 2022 at 9 am. The US tickets will go on sale over the coming weeks, the initial ticket sale will begin on Wednesday 20th July 2022 at 10 am.

Frontman Eddie Vedder addressed the audience to pay tribute to Hawkins, “There’s another guy who really loved London… we all knew him and loved and respected, and we were enlightened by him. It was one of the brutal losses we’ve had recently. I’m talking about Mr Taylor Hawkins.” During the performance, Vedder also took the time to acknowledge those involved in the struggles currently affecting Ukraine and those fighting against Russia, “I just want to send one out to the good folks fighting for their homeland back in Ukraine.”

The grunge icons first took to London’s Hyde Park on Friday 8th July 2022, when the band embarked on their second night Vedder promised the crowd that they would perform “all the songs we didn’t play last night”. The 57-year-old singer also added, “We are very, very grateful to you – you great bunch of humans. With two years of no shows we’re out of practice, but you’re already better than ever.” Upon striding onto the Great Oak Stage, the group bestowed an incredible 22 song-set to their cheering crowd, fans were treated to such hits as “Black”, “Yellow Ledbetter”, “Rats” and “Animal“.

Many fans attended both nights of Pearl Jam’s two-day residency at London’s beloved summer event, this was due to both nights having different support acts. Within the band’s second and final night they were supported by British rockers Stereophonics, legendary musician Johnny Marr, Imelda May, Temples, The Last Internationale, La Luz, The Wild Things, JJ Wilde, Tigerclub, Whispering Sons, Petrol Girls, James & The Cold Gun, Peaks and Connor Selby.

Music fans screamed with excitement when Marr joined Pearl Jam on stage during their headlining set, the former The Smiths guitarist performed within an expanded guitar solo within a cover of “Throw Your Hatred Down”. The track first appeared within the Neil Young album Mirror Ball, released in 1995 the LP was the 21st studio album to be released by iconic musician. Famously, Pearl Jam have long been fans of Young and were featured within the album as performers as well as co-writers of selected tracks.

Marr later returned to the stage during the end of the set, for the set’s final song both acts performed a cover of The Who’s “Barbara O’Reilly”. Before leaving the stage and concluding their two-night residency, Vedder said to the crowd, “Thank you for the last two days. Take care of yourselves, take care of our planet. We love you.”

The “Tiny Dancer” singer has announced that he will be joined by recent collaborator Rina Sawayama, the musical partnership was birthed from an already established friendship and resulted in the release of the track “Chosen Family”. The talent pair’s duet was released last year and is a reworked version of an original track written by Sawayama, the single was initially released in 2020 and appeared on the singer’s debut album.

Sir John has become known for more than a large collection of hits and accolades, the singer has been a long-time supporter of new and emerging artists. This dedication to up and coming music can be seen within the concert’s supporting acts, the day’s lineup has been handpicked and curated by Sir John himself. Scheduled to join the Grammy award winning artist are a list of special guests including Gabriels, Let’s Eat Grandma, Berwyn, Thomas Headon, Tom A Smith and Juanita Euka.

CEO of European Festivals at AEG presents, Jim King has given the following statement concerning Sir John’s upcoming performance, “American Express presents BST Hyde Park has always stood for the world’s biggest and most loved artists bringing not just a performance but a truly one-off and memorable event.”

King continues to describe the importance of Sir John’s music, “Elton John has provided the soundtrack to the lives of so many of us and to know that his last tour is coming to Hyde Park, possibly the last time many of us will ever see him play, is one of the most important and ‘must see’ nights of BST Hyde Park ever.”

Also set to appear at this year’s summer concert series are fellow British legends The Rolling Stones, the “Paint It Black” hitmakers will take to Hyde Park on Saturday 25th June 2022 and Sunday 3rd July 2022. American rockers Eagles are scheduled to perform a headlining set on Sunday 26th June 2022, the performance will also mark half a century of the “Hotel California” rockers musical career. Scheduled to provide support are Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Little Bog town, Cam, Morgan Wade, The Wandering Hearts and Patrick Droney with more acts yet to be confirmed.

Music fans will also be treated to a two-day residency from Grammy award winning singer Adele, the “Easy On Me” singer will perform on 1st and 2nd July 2022. The forthcoming sets will be the singer’s first UK live show in over five years, Adele last took to a UK stage in 2017. Grunge pioneers Pearl Jam will also perform two dates, the group will perform on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th July 2022.

On Friday, the “Even Flow” performers will be joined by fellow 90’s icons Pixies, the first day of their residency will also feature Cat Power, White Reaper, The Murder Capital, The Glorious Sons, Simon Townshend, La Luz, Sick Joy and Dream Nails. La Lux will also join the band during their second and last set, the group will also be supported by British rockers Stereophonics, Imelda May, The Last Internationale, Wilde and The Wild Things.

This year’s BST Hyde Park concert series will be closed by Duran Duran, the “Rio” performers will appear at Hyde Park on Sunday 10th July 2022, marking the group’s debut appearance at the London event. The re-scheduled event will also see the group joined by Nile Rodgers & CHIC, the set will be the group’s first Hyde Park appearance in over six years. The disco legends last appeared at the Hyde Park event in 2015, the band performed on the Great Oak Stage along with Kylie Minogue and Grace Jones.

Having already announced Echo & The Bunnymen as the openers for their Liverpool show as part of their 6oth anniversary tour, this new announcement only piles on to the excitement. The performance on June 25^th will be supported by The War On Drugs, Phoebe Bridgers, Kelly McGrath, Vista Kicks and JJ Rosa, and the July 3^rd show will be supported by Sam Fender, Courtney Barnett, The Flints, The Dinner Party and blues guitarist and singer Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.

For this tour, The Rolling Stones have made a necessary line-up alteration in light of the recent passing of drummer Charlie Watts. Veteran drummer Steve Jordan, who has previously performed with the likes of Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton and the John Mayer trio will perform in Watts’ stead on this tour. Jordan previously joined the Stones on their US tour last year when Watts initially stepped down from the role.

As we’ve already hammered home, the openers for these Hyde Park performances are enough to get any indie rock fan doing cartwheels. There’s a lot to discuss with the recent activity of these bands and artists, but to cover the basics; The War on Drugs released their fantastic fifth album I Don’t Live Here Anymore last year in late October, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Indie sensation Phoebe Bridgers has been busy with several projects since the release of her emotionally stirring 2020 sophomore album Punisher, including a contribution to The Metallica Blacklist with a cover of “Nothing Else Matters” and an appearance on Taylor Swift’s re-recorded second album Red (Taylor’s Version) on “Nothing New”. Most recently, Bridgers released a new song entitled “Sidelines” which you can listen to below.

Sam Fender, as anyone and everyone might know by now, has been making waves with his stunning 2021 debut Seventeen Going Under, and Courtney Barnett recently released her third studio album Things Take Time, Take Time in November of last year, to largely favourable reception from critics and fans alike. The musical icon will encompass his 2022 Summer appearance into his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road- The Final tour’, the singer’s Hyde Park performance will mark the tour’s last London performance. Sir John’s award-winning tour restarts in May 2022 in Frankfurt with dates across Europe and ends in North America with dates in Vancouver, Chicago and various other cities. The epic four-year tour officially ends in 2023 with performances in New Zealand and yet to announced dates in Australia.

The annual Summer concert series will return next year with Sir Elton John, he will also be joined by soon to be announced, special guests. CEO of European Festivals at the world’s leading live entertainment company AEG, Jim King has provided the following statement concerning Sir John’s upcoming performance. King expresses BST Hyde Park’s importance within live events and conveys Sir John’s significance within the music industry. “American Express presents BST Hyde Park has always stood for the world’s biggest and most loved artists bringing not just a performance but a truly one-off and memorable event. The exciting news of Sir John’s Hyde Park appearance comes just days before the announcement of the release of his new album, The Lockdown Sessions, set to be released on 22nd October 2021. The new album features various collaborations with some of popular music’s biggest names including his now-famous cover of the Pet Shop Boys hit “It’s a Sin” with Years & Years singer Olly Alexander. The pair made history at this year’s Brit Awards when the artists performed the cover, the duo remained a favourite from the ceremony due to the emotional and stirring response to the performance. The album also features his new hit with Dua Lipa entitled “Cold Heart”, “After All” with Carlie Puth and a cover of the iconic Metallica song “Nothing Else Matters”. The cover’s artist list reads as a new supergroup made up of Sir John, Miley Cyrus, Metallica’s own bassist Robert Trujillo, renowned producer and singer WATT, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

The “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” singer has released the following statement concerning his new release. “All the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory,” he said. “And I realised there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.”

American Express presents BST Hyde Park has also announced further artists and dates, grunge heroes Pearl Jam will be taking the stage on Friday 8th July and Saturday 9th July 2022. The “Even Flow” hitmakers will be joined by fellow 90’s icons The Pixies on their Friday performance, the special guest set to perform with Pearl Jam on their Saturday set has yet to be announced. Legendary 80’s group Duran Duran are set to play on Sunday 10th July 2022 and will be joined by special guests Nile Rodgers and CHIC and other acts also yet to be announced.

The festival will take place over the weekend of September 12/13. All the sets will be available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. Throughout the weekend there will also be highlights shows and compilation footage, and furthermore, special BBC Red Button content. After this, the footage will be available for another month.

On Saturday, the live hosts include Fearne Cotton and Rylan Clark-Neal. Sunday’s sets will be presented by Trevor Nelson, Sara Cox and Zoe Ball. A detailed line-up is available in the tweet below.

The UK acts will film their performances at Radio 2’s Live At Home stage which is somewhere in the British countryside. American performers will stream their sets from remote locations; rumour has it that The Killers’ set takes place on the roof of a Las Vegas hotel, and Nile Rodgers and co. will be live in Central Park, New York.  British synth pop duo Erasure will perform live from either side of the Atlantic!

In addition to new sets, the other ‘headliners’ will be compiled of some of the best previous performances from earlier years. These will be available on iPlayer in the lead up to the event. Speaking about Radio 2 Live at Home, Craig David says: “Whilst we can’t party in person, we can have a house party for Radio 2 Live at Home.” Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders adds that, “After months in lockdown, come rain or shine, we are so happy to be able to perform in the glorious British outdoors for Radio 2 Live at Home!”

The Head of Music for Radio 2, Jeff Smith, had this to say about the newly digital festival: “Radio 2 Live At Home will celebrate some of our favourite artists performing in the great outdoors, as well as offering the opportunity to relive some classic sets from our Festival in a Day from years gone by. Who wouldn’t want to relive Jeff Lynne’s amazement at 55,000 people singing along as ELO performed their first full set in 27 years, or Kylie’s impromptu reunion with Jason Donovan on stage for a unique performance of Especially for You.”

The gig will take place on the 12^thof July 2019 at Hyde Park, and tickets will go on sale at 9am from November 30^th from AXS here. Tickets will cost £75 for general admissions, with VIP tickets costing up to £295. Nobel prize-winner Bob Dylan is known for his poetic lyrics and experimentation, whereas Young has created music from similar folk beginnings to becoming the ‘Godfather of Grunge’.

James King, senior vice president of AEG Presents said: ‘Barclaycard present British Summer Time has always tried to deliver the greatest one-off live experiences for music fans in London. Being able to bring together two of the biggest cultural icons for this historic day of music counts as possibly the biggest event we have ever delivered in Hyde Park.’

Young talking to Time Magazine back in 2005, said about Dylan: ‘I’ll never be Bob Dylan. He’s the master. If I would like to be anyone. It’s him.’ A few years later Dylan then repaid the comment by telling Rolling Stone: ‘He’s since and he has got a God given talent, with that voice of his and the melodic strain that runs through absolutely everything he does. He could be at his most thrashy, but it’s still going to be elevated by some melody. Dylan then added ‘Neil’s the only one who does that. There is no one in his category.’

It is yet to be revealed in which order they will play in, but fans are hoping that they will play some songs together. Dylan who plays with his band, is expected to close the show, although the precise billing is yet to be confirmed. Neil Young has played British Summertime Festival before, with Crazy Horse back in 2014 which was a success and next year’s will not be a disappointment. Previous acts who have played British Summer time include Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, The Strokes and Stevie Wonder.
