Melbourne trio HighSchool announced three shows in the UK next year: in Manchester, Margate and London. The short tour will mark the release of their debut EP Forever At Last.

The band will have a chance to finally perform live after the longest lockdown for a city in the world, with it to open only last month, which makes 267 days in total. Talking about the hard times, vocalist Rory Trobbiani said: “It feels like we’ve fallen into an endless abyss of time. But we’re ready to come out of this mess as a stronger and better band”.

In 2020 the band signed with Dalliance Recordings and released their debut EP Forever At Last on the 1st November. In four stars review, NME described it as “the pain and frustration of isolation against a backdrop of introverted goth-pop”. “HighSchool’s efforts to build tension, craft memorable, textured melodies and achieve catharsis makes their music refreshingly human and transparent” praise the review.

The trio also decided to move to London in December, despite them visiting the capital only once. “I feel like putting ourselves out of our comfort zone by moving to London will hopefully give us a bit of a kick up the arse, and throw us into a different kind of lifestyle as a band. And isn’t that exactly what we need?” explained bassist Luke Scott.

Last September HighSchool released a video for “Jerry”, directed and produced by Rory. They always wanted to make art that’s challenging and provocative, which can be clearly seen in the video. Watch it below.

“When we started out, we had a strong idea of what we wanted to do with our videos and how we wanted to dress – and we based the sound around that, which is obviously a bit of a backwards way of doing it” explains Scott.

“But the art doesn’t end with the music – for us, it extends our fashion and our videos. There’s no reason why we need to make distinctions between music and the visual side of things. Believe it or not, we’re just trying to add a bit of colour to the world” added keyboardist Lili Trobbiani.

The band started their career in 2020, rehearsing in the storage container in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. Initially, the two-piece band called Rosary evolved to a trio. See HighSchool UK Tour dates below. Tickets are available here.
